Day 3,509: At It Again?

I hope this week and weekend were enough for me to rest and recharge. I was finally able to sleep A LOT this weekend, and that was nice. Was it enough? Probably not, but time’s a-waistin. I have a book to finish. So, back at it again in the AM.

Starting my workout routine again tomorrow, yoga included. Blerg. That’s going to take some getting used to. BUT…I can do it. Have to do it. Not taking no for an answer. Same with the writing. Have to get back to it. I want this book DONE.

Night nig...

Day 3,508: Kerry!

We have Kerry with us tonight. Woohoo!

I cleaned the patio today. Swept it. Hosed it down. It looks soooo much nicer. Ready to use—almost!—for the coming summer season when it’s so nice outside in the evenings. We used it a ton last year. The only thing that’s missing is the string lights, which we took down when we got our termite treatment. Liz and I were going to do that too, actually, but we found a couple active (tiny) wasp nests and figured it would be best to take care of those first a...

Day 3,507: Live And Eat Pie

I am definitely still not back to 100% jet-lag-wise. Whew! Josh and I were podcasting tonight and I just about passed out from exhaustion halfway through the movie we were watching. Hit me all the sudden like a ton of bricks.

The movie was good though! SO MUCH better than his first film. Firstly, it was definitely better-restored than The Pleasure Garden, but more than that, it was imaginatively shot, the story was far-improved, and it was all about building tension which is oh so very Hitchc...

Day 3,506: The Routine

I can feel the routine creeping back in today. Just barely. Tonight especially getting ready for bed. Feels good. I have a busy summer ahead of me; book to finish. House projects to handle. Work. Exercise. Etc. Feeling excited and positive about the second half of the year, which will be a relief given how intense the beginning of the year has been.

Really missing Coco tonight. Joy has officially taken her place up at the top of the bed. In my heart, they share it, really. It’s not a replacem...

Day 3,505: Tribute

Update: Joy rocked it on the bed last night. Slept all night. Snuggly. Adorable. And still. She didn’t move constantly and wake us up. She was perfect.

Work today was up and down. I’m still way out of it jet lag-wise. The good thing is that I slept for eight hours last night. A vast improvement. The bad news is that I slept for two and a half hours from 5:30 to 8. Whoops! I definitely did not mean to do that. At all. I literally set my alarm for a 30 minute snooze before walking the dogs and ...

Day 3,504: A Momentous Day

Joy is (basically) old enough to sleep in the bed with us! …we think. We hope. We’ll see how it goes. We can put her back into her kennel if it doesn’t work out…but, she’s in freaking heat right now, so she’s wearing a diaper anyway. Here’s the thing…

SHE IS SO READY TO SLEEP IN THE BED WITH US, lol.

She’s next to me right now, passed the fuck out. Curled up, snoozing like a perfect pup. Like she’s slept here every night of her life. I love her so much.

I’m wiiippppeeedd out. So tired. ...

Day 3,503: Only Gold

Home.

Absolutely WRECKED right now because of the jet lag…but this too shall pass. I was able to stay up till bed time. Hopefully that means I sleep through the night. Fingers crossed for me, folks. It’s quite the time difference. Nine hours. Though…it could be much worse. There are other places in the world that are even tougher, I’m sure. I simply haven’t been to them.

Wow.

Brain. Shutting down. Must. Sleep.

Night night.

Day 3,502: Errands

Twas one last day in Paris today. We did SO MUCH. Presents. Food. Carrying home clothes for JJ. We’re all sweaty in bed right now because we just spent the last hour packing. Weight limits are TRICKY. We’re leaving two bottles of wine at the hotel room. Sigh. They just won’t fit. They put us over the weight limit. Good thing it’s the two bottles that we got for free from one of the wineries that we visited. Not like it was a purchase and I have to leave it behind.

Dinner tonight was amazing. ...

Day 3,501: Hot Train

It was hot today on the train from Dijon back to Paris. But we made it!

Woke up hella early compared to when we went to bed. Five hours of sleep I think? AND…ate a quick breakfast to go and ride for ten miles. TEN. MILES. (…on an e-bike, but still). Unfathomable just a few days ago.

We had one last group activity: a guided tour of the Hospices de Beaune which dates back to the 14th or 15th century (I can’t remember which). VERY impressive. There was a polyptic there commissioned by one of ...

Day 3,500: Lit

Man. We shut Beaune DOWN tonight. I…honestly had no idea we were going out. Twas sprung upon me, but once it was, I was honestly down. We went out with our two team leaders for this trip, and we had a blast at the downtown “club,” which was really a wine cellar that was probable three hundred years old, but there was a bar, lights and a DJ and that was all we needed apparently to stay out until 2 in the morning, which is what time it is now.

I’m so tired. Lol.

Solid ride today. We got up o...
