Day 3,523: Sleeeeeep
Okay. Making this one super quick because it’s bed time and tomorrow I must MUST get my ass up on time. Have to. So.
I missed yoga yesterday, but I’m so damn proud of myself; I did two sessions today. Spaced em out and whatnot so that I didn’t over-exert myself, but I did it. AND I went on an evening bike ride, which was absolutely insanely lovely. Insanely amazing.
Started watching Silo with Bear. Dig it. Makes me remember how much I loved reading the books; the first one in particular. T...

Day 3,522: One Off
I keep remembering each night as I come to write my blog entry that I know I’m one number off somewhere. And it happened a few weeks ago. I need to go back and figure that out at some point, le sigh.
A solid weekend day today. Slept in a bit. Therapy. Took a shower. We went to a friend’s birthday party. Came home and took a nap. Played a little Switch (MarioKart). Walked the dogs. Ate dinner together and finished Shiny Happy People.
Religion, man. It’s so ripe for oppression, exploitation,...

Day 3,521: Growing Pup
No tummy issues today for Joy. On either end! We call that a ‘win-win.’ Hehe.
Got to podcast in the evening. Another Hitchcock silent film. Storytelling was SO DIFFERENT back then. At least in film. Some of it translates. Some of it doesn’t. Both ways, I feel like I learn so, so much.
Work was good. Busy! I’ve got quite the project to work on over the next several days. Which I love. Busy is good.
My little hiatus from the writing grind has extended itself to a full week, now. Sigh. Did...

Day 3,520: PukeTown USA
I jinxed us. So hard.
I wrote last night that Joy was out of the woods on the whole eating snake plant affair. Boy was I wrong! Lol. And not in any terrible way. She’s fine. But…she did puke like seven thousand times from about 3am to 6am, during which time Liz and I got nary a wink of sleep.
Sigh.
She was fine after that. Tired. But she perked up around midday, and by evening it was pretty clear that she was feeling better so we went ahead and gave her a full meal. She’s been fine with...

Day 3,519: Stuck
Joy did NOT puke the bed last night. She has a tummy of steel, that’s for sure. She did, however, poop all over our friends’ carpet today while Liz was there with her, visiting. Poor babes. And poor friends! Apparently the cleanup was pretty straightforward, it was just embarrassing. Luckily, that seems to be all the ill effects from eating the snake plant last night. Whew!
In a bit of a rut writing-wise. Sigh. Ready to break out of it. Gonna get my ass up on time tomorrow and re-start this t...

Day 3,518: Puke Fort
So, Joy ate some snake plant this evening. Sigh. It’s mildly toxic—ie, it can lead to vomiting and diarrhea. We just spoke to a medical hotline and there’s nothing to fear BEYOND that, but still; if she starts puking and/or pooping, we should probably bring her in to get some meds to calm her GI tract. Poor baby. Hopefully she’ll be fine.
In the meantime, we’ve built a little puke fort on the bed. Waterproof pads, towels, etc. We want to be next to her just in case she starts to feel bad and ...

Day 3,517: My Baby Babe
Joy getting so cute you guys. I was worried that as she got older and grew bigger and turned into a dog rather than a puppy, she wouldn’t be as cute as she was when we first got her and I’m happy to report: she’s so goddamn CUTE! She has this moppy muppet teddy bear look going on and I’m obsessed. Kind of like those golden retriever / poodle mixes. And she’s so SOFT. And SWEET.
It’s been really nice spending so much quality time with her over the past several days.
Kept up on my yoga. I’m ...

Day 3,516: Boba
Y’all held out on me a bit with this Book of Boba Fett stuff. That show is quite good! It does go off the rails ever so slightly in the last couple episodes with the sudden shift to Mando’s POV and a bunch of filler BUT…daaaamnnn. I enjoyed the show SO MUCH MORE than I thought I was going to. Really solid stuff. Western on one track, with particular parallels to Dances With Wolves, and a Crime story on the other with parallels to almost every mob movie you can think of—all in a good way. We know...

Day 3,515: All The Way In
I guarded my heart.
I didn’t mean to, and even when I had an inkling, I knew I wouldn’t forever…but I was. The loss made me. I couldn’t help it.
This weekend with Joy has been a turning point. She’s just old enough. It’s been just long enough for me. It was just enough time. Just enough of an exhale schedule, work, life-wise for the armor to crack.
She’s such a good little companion. Just like Coco. I want her with me all the time.
A turning point, this weekend. It’s made me miss Coc...

Day 3,514: Kicks
We’re doing all of Hitchcock. Everything. Not missing a single film, at least not any of them that are available to watch. Hitch does go back far enough that some of his early stuff is straight up lost in the mists of time. But everything that CAN be watched, we have decided to watch.
And why not? That’s kind of in the mission statement for Film School. We go hard. We do it ALL. No stone unturned. And it’s cool like that, because we get the whole picture. There’s so much to learn from the les...
