Day 3,555: Deeply Cleaned
It is bed time BUT…man, I hit twenty pages today writing-wise. Whew! Wasn’t all that hard. I think I’m finding a groove. I hope so. I definitely have some things to fix this weekend, and it’s going to take some TIME to do so. But…I don’t think they’re too major. They feel major, but I don’t think they will be. Just need to hone down on a couple things that aren’t in the rhetoric right now. Setup information for the adventure to come that I missed somehow, and it needs to make sense that they’d a...

Day 3,554: Wins and Losses
So, the win is that I just did a last writing sprint here to finish out the week with 60 written pages. Done. Did it. This little hour before bed of 9:30 to 10:30 was very, very effective. I think I wrote four pages in about 40 minutes. And GOOD pages, too.
I definitely need to find ways to write more at night; it’s always been a very natural creative time for me…when I’m able to sit down and do it. I also REALLY like being chill at night, like unplugged, and I also get very tired around this...

Day 3,553: Zonked
I caved in and let Joy run around with Snacks this evening for a little bit. And by ‘run around’ I truly mean she just ran around the yard having the zoomies. They hardly actually played together at all; she just wanted to run. And you know what? She is ZONKED OUT tonight. Super sleepy. And a sleepy pup is a happy pup.
She’s literally snoring right now. Lol.
Podcasting with Josh. Had therapy. Took Liz to the airport. That was my day.
Liz is in Scotland now for the next four weeks doing ...

Day 3,552: Puppy Energy
Joy is so crazy before bed now. I have to believe that part of it is that she’s not getting nighttime walks right now because she’s recovering from getting fixed. No play time with Snacks, either. But man, she is WILD before bed. Right now, she’s digging around under the covers. Cooper HATES it.
Omg. She’s licking my feet right now. She found them.
She’s so cute.
Anyway…long day. Long week. Ended it right, though: a date night with Liz. We went to Bacari, which is near our old digs, and...

Day 3,551: Rhythm
Had much of my writing rhythm disrupted today BUT…I knew that was going to happen, so I made sure I got in some hours early.
I can reliably write three good pages an hour. GOOD pages. No rushing. Stopping to fix stuff as I go. Clean enough prose to give it an easy polish later in the week. Hour in, hour out. Three pages.
That is SO HELPFUL TO KNOW. That’s my rhythm. I can count on it whether I’m having a good writing day or a bad one. I have a lot less bad writing days knowing that’s my p...

Day 3,550: She Will Not Be Tamed
Coops has a heart murmur. He saw a cardiologist today and the news is about as good as it could possibly be. Downside, he does have a heart murmur. The upside: it’s a type that has an 80% chance of developing so slowly it will never be an issue, and currently, his heart is otherwise completely normal in every other aspect. In the 20% that it does start to cause issues, such as enlarging his heart, by checking it frequently, we’d be able to catch it very early on, and there are medications and li...

Day 3,549: Of Sprints and Marathons
I was much closer to my page goal today. Sixteen pages. Just four shy. Granted, it means I’m well shy of what I wanted to cover in the first two days, but I’m not focused on that right now. There will be time to make that up in the days to come. For these sprint days, the focus is just on the here and now.
I can do close to twenty pages a day in six hours. That’s…a LOT of writing time to try and fit in around a full time job. I’m honestly not sure if I can do it every day I wanted to…but I’m ...

Day 3,548: Dave
Making this a quick one! Didn’t hit my page goal today, but I did fine. About half what I wanted to, but here’s the thing: a single day doesn’t matter so much as it matters getting right back at it the next day. I know this. There’s always time to make up ground. And make it up I will.
Night night.

Day 3,547: Dance Monkey
Joy has a new game where she likes to go underneath our top blanket, twist around for a bit, and then dig. It COMPLETELY messes up the bed…and she loves it. Looooooves. She’s doing it right now. Sigh.
She’s so cute, you guys. Her little belly incision from getting spayed is healing well. She’s back to her spunky, sweet little self. Being a cutie.
Anyway…I get to start writing my book tomorrow. Whew. Nervous about it. And excited. I hope I remember how. I know that sounds stupid, but I lite...

Day 3,546: Strawberry
Joy just “fixed” the bed. She went under the covers, dig some digging, some twisting, popped back up for air, and then laid down happy with her work. I do have to say, it is objectively better now.
Lazy day. Needed it. Whew! I’m still exhausted. Wiiiiped.
Night night.
