Day 3,530: Squeaky Clean
Nothing better than a shower before bed.
It’s funny, I used to be a shower-in-the-morning person. Helped me wake up, etc. But Liz convinced me of the shower-before-bed methodology as being superior. Then you sleep CLEAN in your bed. And that’s magic.
Writing today was hard. But godammit I did it. I really did. Worked through some stuff that I hadn’t realized needed more fleshing out till I got there…and had fun doing it. Really looking forward to writing that part.
It’s going to be anot...

Day 3,529: Crunch
Less crushing today, but still crushing! I’ve…gotten…SO MUCH work done in the past two days.
It’s a glimpse into what I can do. I just need to make is sustainable. That’s the trick. That’s the rub. I can work so much faster; the block is mental.
I’m trying y’all. I really, truly am.
Night night.

Day 3,528: Puppy Down Here
Crushed. It. Today.
I wrote for six hours today and got a shit ton of this outline done. Almost to Act 3. I can be more economical with my words; I don’t need to write the entire freaking scene. Just outline it. It’s enough. I’m going to have to dive in and reinvent stuff when I actually WRITE the scene, anyway. Leave some room.
^^^ Pep talk for myself up there. I just had the realization today that I can pare things back. Move a little swifter. So long as the structure of the scene is the...

Day 3,531: I Got This
Bad writing day. I did almost nothing. But here’s the thing: I got this. I do. I really do. Tomorrow is going to be the best day I’ve had in a long while.
Let’s do this.
Night night.

Day 3,530: Mode Push
Need to finish my outline and start writing the book. Have to. It’s as simple as that.
It’s all out tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it.
Good sunday. We got to hang out with Stephen and Thida in the morning. Had breakfast/brunch together. They made homemade egg mcmuffins that were LEGIT. We brought berries and whipped cream. Brought Joy. She loves their house. Tried to get Tommen to play with her but he wasn’t having it. She was good about it though. She listened. Backed off. She’s so good...

Day 3,529: Snuggle bug
Joy is turning into such a little snuggle bug and I LOVE IT. Put her on my lap today on the couch, and she just snuggled in right there, half on the cushions, half on my lap. Just like Coco. Coops doesn’t do that. But Joy does. Meltin my heart over here.
Picked up traps for the kitties. Gonna do that after we get back from seeing Ryan, Lisa and Penny. Get em fixed, and then we don’t have to worry about them so much any more.
Saw Medwards. He was good. So nice to see him.
Took an epic, w...
Day 3,528: Guil-y
It’s late! Past bed time, in fact. As it usually is on a Friday night after podcasting.
Really fun one tonight. Not so much the film itself, but watching it together, discussing the storytelling, what worked and what didn’t. It’s fascinating to watch a director find their voice and what it is they do well…and don’t do well. Hitchcock and comedy: probably not a great mix. I mean, it’s early. We’ll see. Maybe he has some comedies ahead. But it’s certainly not what he became known for as the “ma...

Day 3,527: Shots Shots Shots
Joy is attacking Liz at the moment with kisses. She’s such a smoother! Always giving the licks. Apparently that’s what they actually are, according to dog behavior experts; kisses. The same meaning with us humans. I love it.
Now she’s making the bed. And by that I mean digging like a mad person on the blanket.
Okay day today. Being out so late with the Kings last night fucked my morning routine, and then I couldn’t recover in the afternoon. Sigh. I tried. Not hard enough, but I did. And h...

Day 3,526: Middling
I had some breakthroughs today in my story. I think I filled two or three holes today. Objectively great! I also…struggled to actually use all my writing time and stay productive. It’s still a wrestling match. But, that’s okay. I’ve been here before. Just have to keep at it. Keep showing up on time, and stay there distraction free until the magic happens.
Got to have dinner with the Kings tonight. Impromptu. Happy. Delicious burgers and key lime pie and a peach tart. The kids were kids. Joy a...

Day 3,525: Sileh
So…Silo was fun that first episode. Kinda has gone downhill since then. Not a ton for me. Maybe too much for Bear. She’s not digging it. But I liked the first episode more than she did. I’m still going to watch, but some of the writing is rough—scenes that don’t turn, dialogue that’s super on the nose, and some liberties with the structure of the story that leave me scratching my head.
It’s fine. I just thought it had a chance to be really really good, and it’s just fine. Graham Yost, the sho...
