Day 4,022: Happy Halloween!
What historical event fascinates me the most?
Huh. This is a fun question…I know what the answer is for Stephen King: the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He wrote a whole book about it, which I’m reading right now (and thoroughly enjoying). For me? Hmmmmmm…
That’s how I’m going to take that question, I think: if I could travel back in time, where and when would I go to? When I was a kid, it’d be to go back and see the dinosaurs. For sure. Without question. See what they actually looked l...

Day 4,021: Dubs
What is something I think everyone should know?
There are so many things…how to read. That their parents love them. The companionship of an animal. I think I’ll go super dad-practical, though:
Everyone should know how to manage their money. Which I guess is a combination of how to budget, how to track income and expenses, how to use debt—which mostly means how to stay OUT of it these days, with credit cards especially…and I’d even extend that to how to find jobs that can give you additiona...

Day 4,020: Coopey Burrito
What does it mean to be a kid at heart?
It means one has successfully resisted jadedness. Or put in the positive, to not lose one’s sense of wonder. Above all else, I think that’s what children possess upstairs that we come to envy as adults. From awe comes adventure, excitement, curiosity, energy, possibility…nothing is over and done. The world is your oyster. There’s a reason to get out of bed every day and get after it. And there’s joy in everything, the little, tiny stuff, too — with wond...

Day 4,017: Wake Me Up
I have three magic genie wishes. What am I wishing for?
Too much for my getting-ready-to-sleep mind to figure out right here right now, except to wish that my dogs would be healthy and happy forever. But, in the spirit of the question, I will share a very carefully considered wish that I had as a kid and I still remember to this day:
I wished that the Star Trek universe would be real, and that I could go and visit it whenever I wanted to. Like, I’d blink three times, or snap my fingers in ...

Day 4,016: Quick!
Making it a quick one tonight, but had exactly the Sunday I needed to. Nap brought me back to life, watched some sports, got the podcast up and a laptop back up and running, and coops had a cyst burst on his back but we were able to bandage him up and he fine.
All is well.
Night.

Day 4,015: Follows
What is my favorite form of physical exercise?
Oh, man, that’s actually pretty easy to answer: anything competitive. Like, if there’s a score involved, even if it’s against myself (like, golf, for example), I’m in. I don’t even realize that I’m “working out.” I just be sweating. Tennis has been that sport for me most recently, I guess, even though I haven’t been playing tennis regularly for almost ten years now. Sigh. I have a friend I could do it with, but we haven’t made the time for it. We...

Day 4,014: Wings On My Feet…
How much would I pay to go to the moon?
I love this question. A lot. Now, I wouldn’t be the first to go do it, I don’t think. I don’t have quite that much devil-may-care in me…but I would go. And I would pay a lot to do it, if it was on the table. If it was a matter of money, I’d probably pay whatever they were asking and was within my ability to raise or get on credit at the time. I guess that is to say: I don’t have a dollar amount in mind because it depends on when you’re asking me. If it’...

Day 4,013: In the Clerb
What alternative career paths have I considered?
Oh, man. I’ve considered SO MANY, lol.
I think, probably, the most wild one I considered early on was nursing, and by that I just mean it’s so far from what I ended up doing. I went to school for it, actually, for a whole-ass year before realizing it wasn’t going to be a good fit. I remember when I realized it, too: I was in my anatomy class and a couple people in there were discussing the nursing-type work they were already doing. One of th...

Day 4,012: Dubs
What Food would I say is my specialty?
I don’t cook all the much. My head is elsewhere almost all the time, so cooking is something that takes me away from those things. I’m trying to change that, though! Truly. I’ve only dipped my toes into it here and there, but I did—for example—try to make a steak and vegetable dinner a couple times a few months ago. And I want to get better at baking; I’ve tried a couple times to get a recipe right. In both cases my results were edible, but far from grea...

Day 4,011: Silly Baby
What historical events do I remember?
Oh, man. TOO MANY. Most of them lately. But let’s go back, instead…
I think my first real historical event I actually remember vividly is Dukakis losing to George Bush in…’88? I remember because my mom voted for Dukakis—the main policy point I remember he talking about is the fact that Bush wanted to drill for oil off the California coast; something they followed through with, I think—and when he lost, I was shocked. How could the person my mom wanted ...
