Day 3,995: Hoof
A pretty chill Sunday. I got up fairly early, just by default, and used those morning hours to get the podcast edited and posted. Ghostbusters! It’ll be up tomorrow. A delight.
So, that was nice. That was my bit of work to get done today, and I did it first thing. I got to relax after that and just watch football, really. That’s about all I did. I tried to take a nap, but I think I tried too late. No matter, it should mean I get a nice night’s sleep, and that’s more important, anyway.
Nine...

Day 3,994: Bork!
Joy is getting out her energy right now by dragging around Cooper’s bed, humping it, and barking super loud. She’s crazy. CRAZY! She keeps wanting me to join her, but nope. It’s sleepy time over here, babes.
We had a social day! Got to hang out with Liz and Ali and their friend Justin who was down in the southland for his nephew’s fourth birthday. We got coffee together over in a converted railway station in NoHo near where we used to live. And then this evening we went to Reed’s spoooooky bi...

Day 3,993: Drops
The manuscript is off to the beta readers. My co-writer doesn’t call them that, exactly, but they’re similar; a team of readers who go through each of the books he’s published to make sure everything makes sense, catch any straggling typos, give the thumbs up on whether or not it’s good to go. So, yeah. It’s the last step before publication. Hopefully they like it!
Work was slow this week, thank heavens. Needed it. Lots of extracurricular work to do, and I was mostly able to do it. Whew! Work...

Day 3,992: Right back
Making it a quick one tonight because it’s late, but I podcasted with Josh! We hadn’t hung out in a few weeks because of travel and busy-ness. We watched Ghostbusters, and it holds up! Rick Moranis, in particular, is an absolute delight.
Writing: good. Still work to be done tomorrow. Work: good. Got everything done I needed to and will have a few things tomorrow to tackle. Pups: great. Joy just jumped down to the bed on the floor. She might sleep down there, we’ll see. Bear is curled up aroun...

Day 3,991: Changes
It was a hot one today. This heatwave isn’t quite as bad as the last one, though. We’re triple digits, but just barely, as opposed to the two weeks in earlier that were pushing 112 on some days. That makes quite the difference for our AC, which literally couldn’t keep up. Today, it could. It would actually turn off for brief spells rather than run constantly, and actually got us down to temp. So, in that way, this heat spell feels much less intense, thank lawd.
Writing was…it was fine today. ...

Day 3,990: I Love That
Another good day! I got stuff done. Not a ton—I want to actually push a little harder tomorrow—but I got what I needed to get done, done.
The book is back from the editor. I’ll need to get through that tomorrow. I finished my Author Note. I watched Wrexham get beat 1-0. That was annoying. But still a fun watch! We definitely have work to do as a squad, gel-ing together. But it’s still early!
Dishes are done. We watched Grand Designs. It’s my favorite TV show ever, I think. At the very leas...

Day 3,989: I Can Tell You Miss Me
Contented sigh. Today was a good day. Whew! Not to say the days haven’t been good lately. The opposite: they’ve been great. I guess I mean today was a good work day. I finally, FINALLY got some stuff done I’d tried to do last week and just failed miserably at. Did it today. Got up, did my writing. Intimidated by the amount of work I have to do for my next couple books, but I also know it will be a lot less intimidating if I just get my ass in there and start working. Got some Netflix work done t...

Day 3,988: Homes On Four
We picked up Grand Designs again. The last time we watched it, at least through our Channel 4 account, it was the day Coco died. We put it on after yoga while Coco was at the hospital to pass the time. We were waiting to get a phone call from the internist, to see how she was doing. We got the call, instead, from the ER doctor telling us we needed to come right away.
Ooof. That was a hard day. And, of course, I haven’t wanted to pull up that site again and pick up from where we left off becau...

Day 3,987: J’Door
iPad is at 5% battery! Gotta make it a quick one tonight, I guess, lol.
I write these journal entries on the same thing I write all my books on: my iPad pro from, like…2018, I think? Something like that. Maybe 2019 or 2020, I can’t remember. But I’ve written four books on this keyboard, I do know that. About to write many more.
I watched the movie Mr. Holmes today, which is about a 93-year-old Sherlock Holmes, played by Ian McKellan, who’s trying to solve one last mystery before his dement...

Day 3,986: Dumps
Busy day today! I had a good amount of work to get done, which I did, AND I got to go out to a wine store in Pasadena and get a couple bottles of wine I’d wanted to grab since coming back from our trip to wine country. They had them. And I got to listen to my audiobook on the way there and back, which made it all feel like an adventure.
Hung out with Bear in the evening and watched GBBO. Baking season is back! I’m excited. Going to try some new things this year.
That’s what I got for you t...
