Day 4,082: Library Card
What relationships have a positive impact on me?
Certainly my wife, my partner in all things: Liz. We are unquestionably stronger together than we are apart. My dogs are what I think of next—my constant companions, the structure to every day, even those that don’t have any, especially those days. My family. My mom, my dad and my brother, they all have an enormously positive impact on me. And my friends. They keep me filled up. Going. Entertained and excited. Stimulated. Dreaming. My coworkers...

Day 4,081: Sweater Weather
The thing about writing over four thousand of these daily entries is that certain titles will end up being repeated. I’m sure this is one of them. It got coooolll tonight. Chilly out there. Coops is in his winter sweater, the blue and white one with the snowflakes on it and the high turtleneck. He’s so cute. Joy runs so hot and presses up against us so tight, she doesn’t ever need a sweater. She was BORN in the cool weather.
I played a little music today. Played a little Zelda. Woke up early ...

Day 4,080: Happy Pasta Day!
Happy Pasta Day to all who celebrate! Liz and I celebrate, that’s for damn sure…and boy did we celebrate. So, there’s this restaurant in LA now called Uovo—pretty sure they’ve been here for a while—and they have several locations. Well, I had a return to do for a pair of shoes that would take me all the way out to Pasadena, and Liz was like, “why don’t I go with you?” and I was like “hell yeah” and she was like “and what if we tried this restaurant out there that imports fresh pasta DAILY FROM I...

Day 4,079: Sax
Maaaannn…we started watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy tonight, as we are wont to do around this time of year, and…it’s so freaking good. SO good. One of those rare, once in a lifetime classics that comes along and just blows you away. That good. Now, the extended editions are certainly not perfect—the theatrical pacing is faaarrr superior for example, and most of those scenes added back in were cut for very good reasons…but the movies are so damn good that you literally don’t care! All the ...

Day 4,078: Lump
Twas an easy peasy day today, which is exactly what I needed. Nothing. I took a nice long nap. Watched some telly. Hung out with Liz and the pups. Oh! I did get up early to watch the Wrexham game, and we won! Looked like it was going to be another draw (tie), but we got a lucky penalty call late and converted the kick, so won 2-1. It was a controversial handball call, but I’m okay with it because we’ve had two super late penalties called on us in the past month or so that could’ve been no-calls,...

Day 4,077: Rockin Around
Had a really, really wonderful Christmas today, thank you baby g. We got up at the butt crack to take care of the pups and then head over to the King’s so we could be there in time for Christmas morning…and then turned out to be there, like, an hour early, lol. Nobody was up yet. But, no matter—we walked Joy around the neighborhood and it was absolutely gorgeous out. By the time we got back to their house, Wolfie was up and let us into the house. Breakfast came soon after—the cutest heart waffle...

Day 4,076: Fireworks
Tommen is in Cooper’s thunder shirt, which is this strappy-type shirt that makes a dog feel like they’re being held nice and tight. There are fireworks going off outside and I guess he doesn’t like them. Shivering and pawing to be held and whatnot. Poor bud. Loud noises. Not fun. But, it seems to be working. He’s not shivering at the moment. Seems like the fireworks are dying down, too, which is nice.
Merry Christmas Eve if you celebrate it, and happy holidays if you don’t. Liz and I watched ...

Day 4,075: Bees
Busy busy busy day. I was really hoping I’d be able to wrap up work back on Friday and really have nothing to do this week. Alas, it was out of my hands. There was stuff that needed to be done today, and I did it. Gotta do what you gotta do, right? Right.
Got to watch the Warriors game tonight, though…and it’s rough. We’re a play-in team. I think this latest streak is who we are. Sure, Steph has struggled lately, but I’m sure that’s mostly because his knees are hurting him, which I’m sure is ...

Day 4,074: Devil’s Slide
It’s so hard to watch your dogs deteriorate. There’s a unique despair. It happens so quickly. All the sudden, they’re very, very old. Only a week or two of being sick and not moving around much, and they lose all their muscle mass. In a blink, it looks like they’re dying, and sometimes they are. And they can’t talk to you, they can’t tell you where it hurts or why they don’t want to eat or move around. Suddenly this loved one that you’ve built your life around keeping safe…is in mortal danger. Y...

Day 4,073: Lean Back
Quick one tonight because it’s already late and ya boy is tired…but we had a really wonderful holiday party with our friends tonight, met some really nice people, and yes, met their dogs. Which is crazy, because their dogs aren’t exactly new, I just haven’t been over to meet them until today.
We blind tasted wines, which was fun. They were all special Trader Joe’s “reserve” wines from the various years that they’d been holding onto with the idea of lining them all up and doing a blind tasting...
