Day 3,980: Remy

Man…port wines are gooooood shit. Just had a lovely evening of sitting out in Scott and Addie’s backyard by the fire pit, drinking wine and eating food. It was lovely. We ended up eating these cookies we’d got from New Seasons and opening this port-style dessert wine we’d bought from wine tastings back in December and it was SO GOOD.

Earlier than that, we went to the Japanese garden, which honestly was spectacular. Easily one of the coolest gardens I’ve ever been too. Scott thought the same. ...

Day 3,979: CalTrain

A really amazing day up in Portland. Love these guys so much. It’s late, so making this one a short one, but we had a really wonderful day. Good food. Good company. Night night.

Day 3,978: Completely Blind

We made it up to Portland! Lucha is down on the bed with us, she just came down, and I love it.

Gonna make this one quick because it’s sleepy time, but glad to be here. Work was busy today, but I got it all done. And now we’re here. Can’t wait to spend QT with the bro.

Day 3,977: Ding Dong

The book is done. Off to my co-writer, who will send it off to our editor for a nice, good polish. Whew! Feels good. This is the earliest in the year I’ve ever finished a book. I like that. I want to beat it next year by a lot. Wish me luck!

We leave tomorrow to go up and see Scaddie and Cal. Oh, can’t wait. It’s going to be so nice to visit. Decently long trip up there, too, four days. Three without travel, but still. Our trip back down on Monday isn’t until the evening. Gonna miss the dogs,...

Day 3,976: The Curve

Forty pages left. I think that means I got through slightly less pages than I’d planned for today, but it doesn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was getting within striking distance of the end by today, and I did. I am. I only went a little slower today because some sections needed more love than others.

Zonked. I wasn’t during the day, but my last stretch stint got me there. Zonked now. And…thinking about my writing as a whole, as a career. I’m getting much, much closer to the right rh...

Day 3,975: Three-Forty

100 pages left. That’s what I have to read and edit through. Man…a couple days ago, I really didn’t know if I was going to be able to get through it all, but here I am. A day and a half away, probably, from having this book ready to send off. Whew. If I didn’t get through it by Wednesday, it wasn’t going to get done. I’d have had to ship it, regardless. Our editor is waiting.

Hopefully people like the book. For me, personally, I think it’s somewhere in between that last book I wrote, the thir...

Day 3,974: Bc We Weren’t Here

I had the writing and editing day today that I needed, thank the lawd. I think I got through…almost seventy pages? Whew. My co-writer needs this book, like, yesterday to send to his editor, so I needed to get my rear in gear. This is just such a busy time of year for me, you know? Anniversaries, Birthdays, etc. But, I’m set up, now, to jam over the next few days and actually get ‘er done.

We went over to Liz and Ali’s house for a little Ali Birthday shindig, and that was so nice. They have a ...

Day 3,973: Blanket Mon Star

Well, I had a decent work day today. Not great, but decent. Better than nothing. It does mean I need to fucking JAM tomorrow, though. Gonna see if I can get through 100 pages. I think I can, actually, I just need to focus. Work my booty off. It’ll feel good to do it, too. A relief. And set me up to finish the book out over the following couple days.

It was a good day today, though. I took a really nice nap. A necessary nap. And I ate good food — we got indian food last night for podcasting an...

Day 3,972: Bidet

Had a wonderful birthday today. It was CHILL, which is exactly what I wanted. I wrote. I got my Netflix work done. And then Josh came over and we podcasted. Watched Hitch.

Man…and now, sleep. I am wiiiiiped. Wiped wiped wiped.

Night night.

Day 3,971: Kermit

“When you are broke, nothing is cheap.”

I’m reading a new wine book. It’s called Adventures on the Wine Route by one of the most influential modern importers in the US, Kermit Lynch. It’s…very good so far. He goes by region and tells tales about the people and wines that stood out from each during his long career. So many great stories already. I love reading these books before bed, adding producers and wines to my wishlist of stuff to check out someday. It’s like being a book lover; there we...
