Day 9,965: Anni

It’s our ten year wedding anniversary today. Ten years ago, right around right now, we’d just gotten married and were parting it up in Maui. One of the happiest days of my life, truly. A banner day.

Today was, too! I finished my fifth novel today. Or, drafting it, at least. Needs some work from my cowriter, then a couple scene fixes from me after that…and then it’s done. Off to the editor, at least. Out later this year. And I get started on planning out the next one right after that.

Happy...

Day 3,964: The SUN

Reporting live from the surface of the gawdam sun tonight. It’s still…95º outside at 10:30 in the evening. Got up to 112º today, and you could feel every degree of that shit. I mean, it was HOT. The hottest it gets here in LA — though there was one year, I remember, where it got up to 118, but that was for a single day…this is going to last another four days, apparently. It’s the consecutive days of 100+ that are really the killer, because it doesn’t cool down. I walked the dogs at 8pm, which I ...

Day 3,963: KThx

I’m going to finish my book tomorrow. I think. We’ll see how long these last scenes turn out, but it really is just one more little action sequence, and then the very last scenes. The wrap-up. Setup, really, for the next book, seeing as this one is a two-parter. Mwahahaa. That’s clear in the title, though, and aaactually, not nearly as much of a cliffhanger between these two as I’d initially envisioned. More of a period on the first part of the action, and then dropping anticipating for the next...

Day 3,962: Pandas

I’ve been with my wife for twenty years, today. That’s including the time we spent dating. CRAZY RIGHT? Twenty years. It’s wild. So grateful for her. So grateful for the life we’ve built together.

It’s late, already. We just spend like half an hour just talking about the last twenty years, so it’s past bed time, but…it was a good day. A busy workday. Got my writing done, though. Ever closer to the end of this book.

Night night.

Day 3,961: Places

Fifteen pages today! Zonnkkkkkeeeddd…but yeah. I got them pages done. Just a couple more sequences one, only one of them a major one.

I did not get the reading and editing done, however. It took all I had to get the fifteen pages out. So…that’s okay. That’s another day added onto the end of this process. Not the end of the world. The biggest push is just getting the book written. Which I am SO CLOSE to finishing.

Man, that’s about all I have to share today. I took an epic nap. I’m very, v...

Day 3,960: 100 pre-K

I should hit juuuust about 100 thousand words tomorrow on the book. HOOOOOOMMMEEEE stretch.

I am wiped. Fifteen pages (that’s about 3,600 words, give or take), plus another 25 pages of reading/editing. Whew. Zapped. Zonked. Zilched. I do it again tomorrow, which should get me to that 100k mark. Always a landmark, that. 100 thousand words is just about the perfect length for a novel. Granted, all of the Glory books have been pretty heftily above that number so far, but this book won’t be. Not ...

Day 3,959: Romulus

We went and saw Alien: Romulus today — it was fun! It’s not perfect, but it is WAY better than the last, most-recent additions to the franchise, which is a welcome relief. It’s back (mostly) to haunted houses in space, and that, folks, is what I’m here for. I recommend it. Go see it, if you like spooky space movies. Nor is it all that intense. R-rated, for sure, but I’d actually say it was more fun than it was scary (or even disturbing).

We saw it with Liz and Ali. So good to see those two. G...

Day 3,958: Wont

Late! Time for bed…but it was a gooood Friday. Got my writing done. Scheduled myself out, actually, for the next week to get this book DONE. Gonna be a push, but I can do it. I’m so close.

Podcasting was great, we watched To Catch a Thief which is just about one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. The 50s had some dope photography, man. Really really amazing. And it was a fun caper, too.

But, it’s back to work tomorrow, so off to bed with me. Night night.

Day 3,957: Everest

Liz and I have a shared obsession with Everest docs. It’s fascinating to watch these people do such a dangerous thing. The footage is obviously amazing, but really for me it’s the psychological aspect of it. What is the type of person who does this? How do you see people literally dead and frozen to the rope line, unclip to get past them, and then continue on. Like, that was a person just a few hours ago and now they’re dead, doing exactly what you’re trying to do. That’s…wild. Just wild to me.
