Day 3,912: Romans

First day today where I haven’t hit the pages, but there’s a couple reasons for that: one, I had to spend one of my hours this morning brainstorming a scene that wasn’t quite ready when it came down to it, and that set me irrevocably behind on the day, because two: it was a busy ass day. Work was busy, and we went to Costco. Just those two things alone were enough to sink me.

But…it’s okay. It was bound to happen. Back tomorrow with another ten pages!

Night night.

Day 3,911: On More

Seven pages is what I got through today, the first day I haven’t quite hit ten…but that’s okay. Still close enough to just make it up tomorrow.

Took a nice nap. Got enough rest this weekend tonight, I hope. I think I did. I could push through right now and get those last three pages done, but I want to get to sleep on time, and I know that adding on a little bit tomorrow to finish those extra three isn’t a deal breaker. I can do it.

Hung out with Alex and Nicole. We played with the kitties...

Day 3,910: Close!

Almost forgot to write this one. Already have my head on my pillow and lights out. But my phone is here to save me.

Got my pages done—Glory 4 is at 60 of them. Almost through act one.

Saw Longlegs with Liz and Jared. It was fine. Not great, but still a ton of fun.

Took a nap.

Now…sleeeeep.

Day 3,909: Gaze

It late. Podcasted for the first time in a couple weeks because of all that traaaavel. It was so nice to get back in that groove, get back to the Hitchcock. We’re almost to the 50s! Wild. Movie wasn’t that great, but that’s okay. We still had fun. And still great to break down and figure out why certain things worked and others didn’t.

Writing was good today. I need to remember for tomorrow a little rewrite that Drake needs to try and go to sleep, but his mind is spinning with everything he n...

Day 3,908: Patriot Games

We finished Patriot Games tonight, and man…that movie is way better than I remember it being when I watched it as a teenager. It slaps. Ford is great in it, the finale is great, all the twists and turns are great. It’s super duper solid. Four stars, I say! Four stars out of five.

Doing our summer movie watch has been really, really fun. We might be taking a Harrison Ford pivot and actually watching through all the Jack Ryan movies next. We’ll see. We have Clear and Present Danger up next. A l...

Day 3,907: Thirty!

The manuscript sits at thirty pages tonight. Okay, technically it sits at 29…but close enough. Close enough to make up tomorrow no sweat. Proud of myself. I’ve just kinda slipped right into it. The flow is good already. Stuff is happening. Meeting new characters. Stakes being established. Scenes are dynamic. Wrote one that I really enjoyed this morning. In the middle of another one that’s gonna be a banger. It’s. good. stuff.

Otherwise…time for bed. Work was slow today, blessedly. I’ve been ...

Day 3,906: Grape

Twenty pages complete on the latest manuscript! Boom Shaka Laka.

Feeling a bit zonked about it to be honest…but I know now that’s normal for me. I get zonked when I first get into the swing of things. It’s a disruption of the status quo, which always makes me feel like I’m a little out of it. Just gotta keep plugging away, one day at a time. I love it. Gonna have this book done in the middle of the summer. That’s going to feel SO GOOD. Then…I push for the next one. Really want to get dialed i...

Day 3,905: A Good Good Baby

Ten pages. It has begun!

I truly am the happiest when I’m drafting. The story is there, ready for me to just live it, and living it is the best part. Got through ten pages today pretty easily. Ten again tomorrow is the goal, and ten more after that, and so on till it’s done. We’re home for a good stretch, and I’m going to use that to just knock this book out. I know that will make my co-writer happy, and it will make ME happy. I’m still on track to finish two books this year, for the first ti...

Day 3,904: Cuddle Triangle

Home.

We started watching The Fugitive tonight, which neither of us has ever seen. We know about it. obviously, but neither of us has actually seeeeen it.

It’s so good! Instantly good. And it’s funny, because the opening act is very old school — the escape from the prison bus especially (except for the violence being depicted so graphically), and then the freight train, etc. Made me think of something I’d have seen in the 30s or 40s. There was something over the top and sensationalized tha...
