Day 2,437: Whaddaweek

What a week. Whew.

I was busy AF this week, guys, and fighting my writing for most of it.

But, not today. Today, I wrote good words, words that get to stay.

I was totally out of my rhythm this week, but I have to say…for the most part, I did pretty well. And I’m speaking as though the week is over because I—blessedly—have tomorrow off because of the 4th of July holiday. But yeah…I did alright. I got my shit done. I’m proud of myself.

It was definitely not one of those weeks where I f...

Day 2,436: Nice to meet you

I might have just met one of my new characters for the first time.

I’ve been struggling with this opening scene, and one of the reasons I’ve been struggling is because I just haven’t put my finger yet on just who this person is. I might have figured that out a little bit tonight. Just now, in fact.

Today was rough. Building stuff really put us through the ringer. Nothing crazy or catastrophic. Just…rough.

Work was great, though, thank god. That continues to hum along. I am so, so very v...

Day 2,435: Small Wins, Big Wins

Just had a small win: had a little breakthrough on a scene.

Pro tip: if you’re ever writing a scene, particularly an EARLY scene for a new character, and it’s just not feeling right? Take a look at whether they’re the most active in the scene, or if someone else is. If they’re not the most active, that’s probably why the scene doesn’t feel like it’s working. Switch it up. Make THEM the one doing the most, driving the action, and the other person doing the reacting.

Small win.

Big win to...

Day 2,434: Finishing Energy

I’ve written about ‘finishing energy’ on this blog before, for sure, but I am in the MIDST of that shit right now. It always takes so much more time and effort than I think. Every time. But…damn if it isn’t always a rush at the same time.

What I’m about to finish is the last little bits of Season 4 of Two Guys One Trek, which is the Animated Series. I have MOST of season 4 done, locked and loaded, ready to go, but tomorrow, the rest of it goes up.

Then…after I get some other projects done ...

“The Infinite Vulcan” (Star Trek: The Animated Series S1 Ep7)

There is a GIANT Spock out there in the universe somewhere! Josh shares about listening to TG1T out in the wild, we get surprisingly deep casting each of the Enterprise crew as plants . . . and the entire episode turns out to be about plants!!!

Day 2,433: Back in the groove…

Looking to get back into the groove tomorrow.

Last week was a little rough, although it was also dope. No…last week wasn’t rough. It was up and down. A little back and forth. And it ENDED with me starting a new phase of the rewriting process that I’m intimidated by and feel rusty at.

BUT…

I’m looking to re-find that groove. I need to allow myself time to play. To get it a little messy, and then clean it up. Trust that I have several passes on this thing to get it right. Trust my inspira...

Day 2,432: Cruising

Had a GREAT Saturday today…

Started off with a nice sleep in. Then I walked the pups and talked to my bro, who’s working hard on making their house up there amazing. It’s looking SO GOOD.

Then I spent most of the day editing TG1T. The rest of season 4 is almost in the can. I just need to do a final pass on the last 9 episodes, and then upload them into our podcasting host. We’ll be set through…October? Something like that. I think I’ll try to get through season 5—the movies—next month. We’...

Day 2,431: Zomg

Bro.

Broooooo.

So tired. This week was a doozy. In a GREAT way, thank baby jesus. I was very, very productive this week, even with yesterday’s wipe-out day included. Writing sessions were great. Work was great. Playing music was great. Pups are great. Liz is great.

Life is good.

I am wiped the fuck out, though

Day 2,430: A ‘Off’ Day

Today was an ‘off’ day. Not in the sense that I took it off from work. Quite the opposite. I was busy as fuuuuuck.

I mean ‘off,’ in that I just felt…off today. I was tired. Much more tired than normal. So, tired, I couldn’t even do my writing sesh this morning, and I needed to take a nap midday for an hour just to reset.

It worked! Thankfully. It meant I also had to skip my afternoon writing session because I was working later than normal because of the aforementioned midday nap. But, it w...

Day 2,429: Late!

Omg, it’s already bed time and here I am sitting down to write this.

Podcasting with Josh and it was that fire.

Played music again with bear, and it was that fire.

Work was also that fire.

So was writing!

It was a great day, even if I was exhausted the whole time. Still getting used to waking up a half hour early. It’s only been three days, lol…gonna take a couple weeks. But, it’s worth it. I’m really, REALLY enjoying the morning writing sessions with more time.

Pups are in bed...
