Day 2,472: All Over The Place

This week has been all over the place.

Not in a bad way, per se. Indeed, this week has been pretty damn good, actually. I’ve been very, very productive. But…it’s been hectic. Not my normal routine. I didn’t get to play music at all this week, for example. Or do my afternoon/evening routine with writing as well.

It’s late. Time for sleeps. Another short entry, but I worked over 12 hours today. It’s time for rest

Day 2,471: Battle

Going to bed tonight, I have battle scenes swimming in my head.

The film Midway is not good. But, the events its based on are fascinating. And Navy battles are very prescient for the novel I’m currently writing. So…that was a fun way to end the evening.

A’s won. Work was hectic. Writing was so-so. All in all…a solid day. Hoping for a great one tomorrow.

Night!

Day 2,470: Evil

Had a great discussion with Josh tonight about villains and the nature of evil for next week’s podcast. It’s a corker.

Keeping it short tonight because I need to hit the hay, but today was hectic, but successful. I wrote. I worked. I did building stuff. More of that than I expected. But I did it all. Recorded with Josh. Took care of the pups. And the A’s won.

And…I just decided I need to have my hero go and recruit on person before I get him to the ship. The recruiting feels important. We’...

Day 2,469: A Quicks

Has to be a quick one tonight. Gotta get up on time tomorrow. I flubbed my alarm this morning and ended up oversleep a half hour, ugh.

Not tomorrow!

Hectic day. Didn’t get any of my normal routine done, and not much work either. I’ll be okay. I can catch up tomorrow.

Night

“The Time Trap” (Star Trek: The Animated Series S1 Ep12)

Forget ion trails; just follow the trail of sandwiches. Ira hits a personal milestone this episode, we cast a new ensign on the ship that doesn’t know how to handle Kirk’s crazy commands, and the boys decide their version of the Enterprise would have eject buttons all over the ship for easy garbage disposal.

Day 2,468: Keeping It Simple

Really, really great therapy session today. Jillian helped me realize that my success comes not so much from the goals I set, but from demystifying the work itself that’s necessary to get there. Which is to say: focusing on the goal or the outcome doesn’t help me. Focusing on the work itself does help me.

Got to hang with Stephen and Thida today. We ate food. We talked. And we played some music together. They have a DJ controller, too, and we had some fun with it.

Then, I came home, did so...

Day 2,467: Hell Yes It Would

I just crunched numbers on what it would take me to write (and rewrite) a book in two months, which is still twice as long as some people I know can do…

It scares me. I think it would take me three hours a day, consistently, for 40 work days to do it.

But, goddamnit…I could do it. I could do it.

Still thinking about that post I saw yesterday, and it just hammered home once again the singular thing I need to do to go where I want to go: finish books. That’s it. It’s that simple. I need t...

Day 2,466: All That Is Difficult…

All this difficult can become easy.

The first word I thought of was ‘hard,’ but that’s not quite right. The opposite of ‘hard’ is ‘soft’

Day 2,465: Urinals

There was an EARTHQUAKE last night. Four-thirty in the morning, something like that. Woke us both up, and I ran and grabbed Cooper since Coco was already on the bed next to Liz if we had to run for it.

We didn’t. It was over in a second. Not really that bad after the first jolt

Day 2,464: Grump

Do you ever have those days where you just wake up grumpy?

I did this morning. For no real reason, except that I was a little behind on my work, and a little behind on my writing. Otherwise, I think it was just a mood I woke up with.

Sometimes those days are hard. Not today! Today…around mid afternoon, for whatever reason, I just felt better. Less tired. Less grumpy. Just…better.

Makes me think there’s something chemical there. It felt like it lifted, like a fog. It wasn’t super intense...
