Day 2,418: Anger

I’ve been angry lately.

I hadn’t realized it so much till today; there was an incident today where it boiled over, and reflecting now, I can see at least in part what led up to it.

Things are terrifying in the US right now. It’s very possible that two black men have been lynched over the past few days up in central california. They were found hanging from trees 50 miles away from each other, both in public parks. Both were instantly ruled suicides, but that’s now being brought into questio...

Day 2,417: Till the Lights Down Low

Thinking about the set I played tonight because I’m listening to it right now

Day 2,416: Snuggled Up

The bed is very snuggly tonight. We’re all passing out.

It’s been an odd week this week. I haven’t been as productive as I’ve been over the previous few weeks. I’ve had the opportunity to be, I just have taken advantage of that. I think I’ve just been a little tired. A little burned out.

But, I feel like that’s starting to lift.

I have to go to bed now. I’m getting up on time tomorrow. It’s going to suck, but I am going to do it. Which means sleep.

Night!

2,415: Just Be Good To Me

Played a set with bear tonight. It was sooooo muuuuuch fun. I dug into her playlist of songs to see what she has. Some dope stuff. I need to add it to my own

Day 2,414: Lighter Than Air

I forgot to go and get my printed manuscript last night. Whoops. It cost me my morning writing session. Blech. But, whatever. It happens. Tomorrow morning, I start reading.

Weird day. It was kind of all over the place. Sigh. I’m such a creature of habit. That shit really puts me out. But…I rallied in the evening.

Playing music helped a lot with that. Found some really dope stuff. It was a much higher energy house set than I thought I’d be playing, but that was really fun. I dug it a lot.

Day 2,413: Ira’s Guide To the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Ira’s guide to the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

Iron Man – **** – we start off with an instant classic. Robert Downey Jr. is inspired casting. He’s instantly captivating. The storytelling is top notch, too.

The Incredible Hulk – ** – Edward Norton is an interesting Bruce Banner, and the Hulk on the run is fun, but Tim Roth is wasted, and after Iron Man, the tone is tragically out of touch with where the MCU is about to go. They made the right choice to move on from this one.

Iron Man 2 – ...

“The Lorelei Signal” (Star Trek: The Animated Series S1 Ep4)

No diggity, no doubt indeed! For some reason, Kirk, Spock and the boys can’t figure out how to swim out of a filling pool, the animated show takes a (sexist?) page from the Original series, and ya boys are digging the artwork style of the show.

Day 2,412: Content

It’s late, so we have to make this a short one.

I’m content.

Writing is going well. Work is, too. Went grocery shopping in-person for the first time in literally two months. I…took for granted how much I enjoy that activity. It’s not something that was even on my radar, but it makes me feel very warm and fuzzy to take our cart down the street, pick out all my favorite foods for the next week or so, and then bring them home and put them all away. It’s a part of my routine that quarantine ha...

Day 2,411: Stick the Landing

You can get away with a lot of shit if you stick the landing.

We finished our Marvel Cinematic Universe re-watch today…or, rather, ALMOST finished, since technically the second Spider-Man stand-alone is still part of “Phase 4 Part 2”…but we all know Endgame was the last movie of this generation.

It’s…

Spectacular.

I didn’t have an objective sense of these movies the first time I watched them, but particularly Endgame. It was the END. So much hype and energy and exhaustion with how ma...

Day 2,410: Smooth

Listening to our set from last night as I write this. A mix is coming in right now that I’m particularly proud of.

Nobody really talks about it, but that is DJing in a nutshell. It’s the skill of mixing two songs together so that the music never stops. That’s it. HOW you do that is, of course, varied. Sometimes it works best for the incoming song to be abrupt and sound very different. Sometimes it works best for the two of them to be almost indistinguishable. All depends on the songs and the ...
