Day 2,489: Home
We’re back home.
It’s late so I shall keep it short, but the trip out to the mountains was exactly what the doctor ordered and I miss it already. Particularly sitting around the fire, eating hot dogs, listening to the crickets, and hanging with Bear and the pups. It was so pretty up there.
Back to work tomorrow.

Day 2,488: Adventure Time
We went even harder on the adventure time today.
We hiked around the arboretum that’s up here and learned a lot about the different trees and other native plants. That was surprisingly awesome, actually. Pups loved the hike, and it was super shaded, which helped them.
Then we went down to lake arrowhead and…yeah. Not our place down there. At all. It is INSANELY built up. Holy shit. It’s not a big lake, and it is literally covered every inch of shoreline with docks and boats. And houses are...

Day 2,487: Hot Dawgs
Magical day today in the paradise that is glamping.
Didn’t sleep in! Had a little bit of a rough night’s sleep because of getting to hot under the comforter, but we should be in tip top shape tonight. So, got up pretty on time and early, actually

Day 2,486: Into the Woods
We’re on vacation.
It’s only for a couple days, but we did it. We’re out of town, up into the mountains, away from it all.
It’s so freeaaakkiiinngggg pretty here. There’s enough elevation that it’s much cooler than down at home. It’s beautiful summer weather with nary a wind to speak of. The cabin we’re in is legit dope, as you can see from today’s photo (took and edited by the amazing Liz Ho).
I’m digging it.
Ready to hike and check out swim spots and just hang with the pups and Bea...

Day 2,485: I Made It
I made it.
Gawdam I am tired. But, I made it to our little vacation.
We’re heading out of town for the next four days, off to the woods for some cabin-style glamping amazing-ness. At least, we hope it’s amazing. It’s our first time our to this particular location during the summer, our first time staying in these type of cabins…it looks amazing. And, regardless, it’s a much, muuuuuuch needed break for both of us.
Hopefully we get in some swimming, some hiking if it’s not too hot—this pl...

Day 2,484: Snuggles
What I love most is being with you.
Or food.
Okay, it might food, if I’m being really, really, really honest. But, see, you bring me food…so my favorite thing is also being with you.
I like to be touching you as much as possible. You’ve got my back. I bury my head into the blankets or the pillows, and I sleep hard because you’re with me. I know you protec.
I’m the kind of pup who will just stay wherever you put me. I can make any spot snuggle-able, but you always put me in spots that...

Day 2,483: Vroom
The little AC we have in our bedroom goes “vroom” when I turn it on.
I guess it’s not that “small,” this new AC that we have. It’s pretty large, actually. It takes up the whole far corner of the bedroom. It’s white. The kind that wheel around on the floor and connect to the window with hoses.
We like to be cool at night, Liz and I. We grew up where it was cold in the evening times. But, we don’t like to run our central air if we’re not using the rest of the house, which we aren’t during th...

Day 2,482: You and Me
Oh, you thought you was in charge?
Nope.
Master of the house, right here. Tongues out, gunz out. I run dis town. Better put some respect on that name, dame. P-U-P-P-why? Because I gotta. Get dem treats.
You might call me an attack doggo, because I will attack that squeak without mercy. And then I will drop it on the ground and smack my lips and move my tongue around to get the fluff out of my mouth, and then I will attack that squeak again until it squeaks no longer.
You might call m...

Day 2,481: Cold Tea
She’d run a small empire from this room.
You’d never know by looking at it. Wasn’t even a legal unit, stuffed up in the top of the building with the HVAC systems and the roof access. No kitchen. Bathroom was around the corner, shared with the building’s maintenance workers. A mattress thrown on the floor, hot plate in an alcove, sofa dragged in off the street. Bit of a view. It didn’t have much.
What it did have was power, and a hard link to the sat-grid on the roof.
The most striking f...
