Day 2,495: Reset

I feel like I had a reset this weekend.

Thank you LORD. I needed it. Bit time. Or big time. Whatever.

I was able to “get back to normal” this weekend in a way that I haven’t felt in…weeks? Like, I’m sitting here in bed with new sheets, the cover blanket has been oxy-cleaned and washed, I have a haircut, my office isn’t insanely packed with shit, the laundry is done, I went and got groceries with bear, I had a nice little writing session after listening to a Story Grid podcast, got to see J...

Day 2,495: Listening Hardcore

Wiped OUT.

More than I should be

Day 2,494: Podcasting Foo

Podcasting with Josh tonight in person for the first time since March.

Damn.

Crazy.

It was dope. There is nothing like the energy and chemistry we have working together in person. It was like we never left. And at the same time, like it had been forever.

It’s super late, so I’ll make my entry tonight brief, but it’s good to be back. It felt normal, even if things aren’t normal yet at all. It was a tiny, important slice of normal.

Work was busy today. Sigh. Hoping for things to be ...

Day 2,493: Brief

Brief tonight, because it’s late and I’m wiped.

Wiped for no major reason except that I just woke up tired. I think it’s because I’m close to finishing this work project, and it never fails: finishing energy is the most expensive energy. The most valuable, yes, but it takes the most out of me.

Podcasted with Josh. That was dope. Always fun talking about movies.

It’s sleepy time. Night y’all

Day 2,492: This Is What It Looks Like

This is what it looks like, guys and gals, to be learning a craft. The struggling, the self doubt, the breakthroughs, the failure and the triumph, and most of all the obsession.

I think about my writing every day. Most of the day. Even when I’m not thinking about it, it’s playing in the back of my mind. When that gets out of control, it’s exhausting. It wasn’t out of control today.

Tonight, though, I do find myself thinking about what exactly all of this blogging/journaling is really about...

Day 2,491: Almost Normal

Almost back to normal.

Work was great today. Writing session in the morning was great. Missed my afternoon one because of some extracurriculars—we did an interview for a friends’ work project that will be out in November, very exciting!—but it’s a step forward. I’m going to miss my afternoon session tomorrow, too, because I’m getting a haircut.

A’s won. I played music, and that went really, really well. Walked the pups with Liz. Helped a friend with a script he’s writing…at least I hope it...

Day 2,490: White Vans

Back at it.

I pooped, so I’m going to make my entry tonight brief, but let’s see, what happened today…

I didn’t get any writing done. Still struggling to get back into the swing of things there, but that changes tomorrow. Both sessions happening tomorrow, and my full, top to bottom routine is happening! Looking forward to it.

Work was good today, though. I’m set up to be back in the regular schedule of things starting tomorrow. Even got all my backlog of finished clips ingested, meaning...

“The Eye of the Beholder” (Star Trek: The Animated Series S1 Ep15)

The Enterprise crew are the newest exhibit in an alien zoo! We talk about Bill Shatner’s joy over any time the script calls for miming out forcefields, cover anxiety over taking a big plunge in life, and we decide we love snailephants.

Day 2,489: Home

We’re back home.

It’s late so I shall keep it short, but the trip out to the mountains was exactly what the doctor ordered and I miss it already. Particularly sitting around the fire, eating hot dogs, listening to the crickets, and hanging with Bear and the pups. It was so pretty up there.

Back to work tomorrow.

Day 2,488: Adventure Time

We went even harder on the adventure time today.

We hiked around the arboretum that’s up here and learned a lot about the different trees and other native plants. That was surprisingly awesome, actually. Pups loved the hike, and it was super shaded, which helped them.

Then we went down to lake arrowhead and…yeah. Not our place down there. At all. It is INSANELY built up. Holy shit. It’s not a big lake, and it is literally covered every inch of shoreline with docks and boats. And houses are...
