Charlaine Harris has been a published writer for over forty years. Her first two books were standalones, followed by a long sabbatical when she was having children. Then she began the Aurora Teagarden book, mysteries featuring a short librarian (eventually adapted for Hallmark movies). The darker Lily Bard books came next, about a house cleaner with a dark past and considerable fighting skills.

Tired of abiding by the mystery rules, Harris wrote a novel about a telepathic barmaid that took at least two years to sell. When the book was published, it turned into a best seller, and DEAD UNTIL DARK and the subsequent Sookie books were adapted in Alan Ball's "True Blood" series. Charlaine Harris answered Holly's question: I was devastated to hear that Book 6 is the final installment in the Gunnie Rose series — it was an absolutely wonderful read! Are there any plans for a spin-off in the future? If so, which character would you most like to explore further? Please do also correct me if I'm mistaken about Book 6 being the last in the series! Sadly, my publisher told me that would be the last book. I'm so glad you enjoyed them. I don't know which character I'd follow if I wrote another one. Probably the younger sister, though I don't know how long she'll live. She's such a risk-taker.

I'm just here to register my vexation that Dead Until Dark didn't make the Top-10 Paranormal Romances list. Since I *do* regularly make Top-10 Hacker lists, let me know if you need a horse's head delivered to the Goodreads HQ.
