Every Time You Love Instead of Hate The World Wins
Every time you love instead of hate, care instead of judge, help instead of hinder, you are helping all of us become more loving, caring and helpful. Every time one person makes one decision to love, to turn the other cheek, to ignore a taunt, and to rise above corruption, to look at the world from a more positive viewpoint it makes it easier for the next person to do so and so on.
We are all joined at the spiritual level so one single gain in your life is a gain for us all. *¨`*•✿¸.• •✿

Six on Saturday – 15🌸10🌸23 A Dancing Garden
This week the new garden areas gave started to look like a real garden after three years of establishing the garden beds. In go the roses and irises first and key native flowering shrubs at the back in the first year. In the next few years I have been slowly adding cutting grown plants and divisions of my hardy perennials and shrubs to fill in the garden beds in complimentary colours and textures. I add mulch and pony manure each year.As the plants grow a little more and the weeds grow a little less, until the rose under-plants start to merge and play together in a symbiotic dance.

Six on Saturday – I Really Dig Irises and Popping Gum Nuts! 7🌸10🌸23
After commiserating or congratulating with some of you, from missing out on the severity of the Agnes storm. A few days later we had an unexpected storm ourselves! I did not hear anything about it beforehand from the weatherman. We were surprised when an unusual and vigorous storm hit our state about 4 pm in the afternoon. It seem to be wind from a different angle and like it was going around like a whirlpool. The next day, a TV aerial from the cottage next door was dangling from the roof by its wires. So many branches were on our 200 metre long driveway, the most I’d ever seen. My husband picked the worst ones up and it was still bad. Then one of our daughters had a big stick picking up session while listening to music, which was excellent. I have been picking up the rest, when I go to drop the recycling down the drive.
Things that I had not secured were liberated around the garden like pots, cardboard boxes and cat baskets. The rannunculus display was badly whipped about but is still blooming in a less spectacular way. Then the next day I was walking in my rose garden area and I felt this popping sensation under my feet, like I was treading on tiny snails. But when I looked down I realized it was not snails I was popping, but little gum nuts underfoot from a nearby gum tree. A quite enjoyable sensation, a bit like popping bubble wrap underfoot! Now I’m going around to areas I haven’t walked in order to feel some more enjoyable popping!
Our house and garden were fine, and at least we got some much needed rain, in a fashion. Most of my bearded irises which are about to flower, seem to be OK, and all upright, which is a blessing! Then the next day lots of irises bloomed for the first time. Over the last three years I have been moving the bearded irises from the old now unwatered rose garden they were in, to a new watered and tended one, around our new house. The irises have thrived in the greater attention they get, from a garden that surrounds our house. With the roses, I moved a few that were small enough to dig up, and others I have taken cuttings of. Others that died in the drought, are on a list of ones I want to buy again for the new rose garden area.
The bearded irises bloom all October for me and encompass early, mid and late season blooming varieties that extend the iris bloom time. They are a bit of a mid spring treat! They flower after the spring bulbs and blossom trees but before the roses and the high spring blooms. There are a few iris nurseries, with display gardens around me and of course, it is my duty to support them, being small local businesses! It is only being a good citizen after all! It is also an indicator of how well the bearded irises are suited to our climate.

Six on Saturday – A Confluence of Loveliness 30🌸9🌸23
This year looks like its going to be a dry one. After three successive years of La Ninia wet, it has moved into a different pattern and I’m going to make the most of it! The weeds are way smaller and easy to pull out and don’t swamp the plants. The need for mowing is not so urgent and the wild rye grass in the undeveloped garden areas is waist high, rather than as tall as me, like it was last year when I was mowing it. Which was a little daunting using a hand lawnmower! Also the flowering of the irises looks to be way earlier and the roses in some cases are two months earlier than last year. Hopefully making the iris and rose blooming dovetail into each other, making a confluence of loveliness! The front photo on this blog post is a photo of the lovely Sparaxis in my garden at the moment.
