Driftwood

The light’s gone out, I doubt what’s right.
A rage unknown my only light
That shines a beacon on this day.
This feeling’s never gone away.
But feeling’s one thing, knowing, more:
Merely driftwood upon the shore
Providing shelter as and when.
Come daylight, discarded again.
Soaked through seawater, I burn green,
A flame like you have never seen.
A light of clarity so tall
You’ll wonder, was it worth it all?
But it’s too late, I cannot stay
Where I’m unwanted, not one more day.
I’ll burn through you like yo...

Daily Drivel – haikus

Today there were five random words to choose from which became two haikus. Those words are: appearance, insert, parade, crevice, flesh.

Your existence is
a flesh parade of cruelty
and sheer arrogance

If only there was
A crevice in your heart to
Insert kindness in

Tainted By Our Choices

Blurb

Tainted by our choices is a contemporary romance that has flashbacks, sex, environmental awareness, and a slight fixation on dessert. Potentially all at the same time.

Meet Jack. A successful environmental officer working within an industry that is so very far from his childhood dream of saving the planet, that he no longer recognizes himself. How he’s found himself in Houston, Texas, where he has no one, and nothing but his work for company, he tells himself repeatedly he doesn’...

Daily Drivel – Caged

Hello! Today’s word was support

you can’t cry freedom

Hands

On one hand, I’m dreading the future,
Because who knows what mess I can create Out There,
But on the other, I’m not planning on making it to tomorrow,
So really, what’s the problem. Why would I even care?
On one hand, it’s all about the right decision,
Because this could be the one that’s finally right.
But on the other, it’s just so pointless,
Because I dream of the bliss of eternal sleep tonight.
On one hand, it’s just, it’s all just words.
And they have no meaning, no sense, no rhyme.
But on the other,...

A Restless Heart

(Chapter 17)

Chapter 18

The table was set, Tyler putting out everything he could think Erin might want for lunch in the hope of encouraging her to eat. In the two days since he’d arrived in Chicago, Erin’s appetite so far had stretched only to some fruit and crackers. Tyler was determined that he would get her to eat a good meal, or at least, the beginnings of one. He moved a chair an inch, adjusted a plate a fraction, and was just about as prepared as he could be to begin his atte...

Daily Drivel – Cafe

Hello! Today’s word was hook.

Roger blinked when saw it; a bright orange tentacle darting out from behind the counter saving his plate from crashing to the ground. Roger rubbed his eyes, convinced it was little sleep, too much coffee, and his penchant for overthinking. The only person serving was Pschemek, who had now worked in the cafe for more than two months. Roger still couldn’t pronounce his name, or work up the courage to ask him for coffee—elsewhere, as in the form of a date—bu...

As Nature Intended

When you first learn that you are an Omega, you learn all sorts of things you never imagined you would need to know when you were growing up. The essentials: Heat suppressants, scent masking, how to handle an Alpha that is scenting you, and of course, the laws that are in place to protect you, in a society that is accepting and progressive, yet still has elements of its attitudes stuck firmly in the past. You also learn that through no fault of your own, or conscious effort, it is possible f...

Daily Drivel – Rumour

Today’s word was rumour.

The rumour was one that had taken a grip on Enzo when he was young. He’d grown up dreaming of the sea, wistfully staring out his bedroom window when he couldn’t be there himself. Enzo loved the beach, spent every moment he could out on the sand, or in the water. People told him he was more at home in the sea than on land, and Enzo couldn’t argue; out there in the water, the rumour felt closer, and more real.
Aged twenty-one, out on a paddleboard alone on his bi...
