Tired

I’m tired of being an afterthought.
You reach out, flailing fingers when you need a steadying surface
But when I reach out, even just to check that someone, anyone is there,
You’re gone, disappeared without the proverbial trace.
I’m tired of being your rock.
You lean on me, and when I do the same, yes, true, you’re there,
But without the briefest of warnings, I’m slipping,
Skull dashed against the pavement from where
I look up, concussed, thinking, did I do something wrong?
I’m tired of reaching out....

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 7

Chapter 7

The rain woke Ryan the next morning, so heavy that it was impossible to gauge what time it might be in the couple of seconds he blinked open his eyes. He was in no hurry to move though, instead smiling as Travis’ thumb traced an absent circle over the back of his where they gripped hands even in their sleep.

Every now and then, Travis would exhale that little bit stronger, ghosting warm breath over Ryan’s neck and sending an inevitable shiver down the length his spine. And Tr...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 6

Chapter 6

When morning arrived, Ryan woke slow, and leisurely, his nose pressing in to the back of Travis’ head as he gave an unconscious squeeze around his waist, before he could wake himself enough to realize what he was doing. With a groan that never quite made it past his lips, Ryan allowed himself one final second pressed up against him before pulling back just enough to give Travis space. Travis huffed in his sleep, wriggling and following Ryan as he moved; Ryan smiled at the gestur...

A Restless Heart

(Chapter 19)

Chapter 20

“Was it really necessary for you to almost break my door down?” Xavier asked as he let Asher in, with irritation in his voice Tyler knew was laced more with frustration. Frustration that he shared. He carefully looked elsewhere avoiding Asher or Xavier’s gaze, willing his heart rate to calm for how much he’d wanted things to escalate in Xavier’s bedroom.

“Dude. I rang the doorbell three times,” Asher said with an easy smile, reaching out to grip Tyler’s s...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 5

Chapter 5

By the time Ronan arrived, still with a towel rubbing through his hair as he stood at the foot of their bed, Ryan and Travis were practically leaning into one another. It was a queen-sized bed, Ryan defended himself in his head, torn between pulling away and avoiding Ronan’s teasing but possibly offending Travis, or staying put, where actually, he was pretty comfortable.

“Good run?” Ryan asked, thumb between the pages of the book as he looked up at Ronan.

“Yeah,” Ronan rep...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Ryan had chosen, out of the short list of people Ronan thought they could get away with speaking to, to speak to the guy who had served them pizza the previous night. Wayne was whistling as he tidied behind the serving counter when Ryan walked in, the final note stuttering to a shrill stop as he shoved the heavy door closed behind him. An appraising pair of eyes deliberately lingered over him, and Ryan fought back a groan on taking in the confident posture and cocky smile.

“W...

Tainted By Our Choices

Tainted by our choices is a contemporary romance that has flashbacks, sex, environmental awareness, and a slight fixation on dessert. Potentially all at the same time.

Meet Jack. A successful environmental officer working within an industry that is so very far from his childhood dream of saving the planet, that he no longer recognizes himself. How he’s found himself in Houston, Texas, where he has no one, and nothing but his work for company, he tells himself repeatedly he doesn’t know. But w...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 3

Chapter 3

The diner booth was typical of those that generally Ryan tried to avoid when the three of them ate together, being far too small to comfortably support their three large frames. If there were only two of them, they could get away with it, barely, by Ronan sitting at an angle with his feet out into the aisle, so his knees weren’t squashed up beneath the underside of the table collecting things Ryan had no wish to know about. And if it was just him and Travis, then aside from the ...

Things That Go Bump In The Night

Chapter 2

Travis, it turned out, was ravenous.

Ryan had watched his appetite fluctuate over the past three months, seen him sampling food thoughtfully in his rediscovery of what he liked and didn’t like outside of what he kept calling army fodder, and had even secretly looked up recipes in the hopes of finding something that would turn out to be Travis’ new favorite. Pizza currently hit the top of that list, and Ronan had known that when he’d suggested the place, sharing a private grin...
