A Restless Heart

(Chapter 21)

Chapter 22

Tyler read his message from Mati and sent a quick one back, trying to picture the park she mentioned in the text. He turned the phone to show Xavier as he stood up from where they’d been sitting together on the couch, stretching as Xavier took his phone. “She wants to meet at three this afternoon.”

“That’s good.”

“Do you know this park? I think it must be near her aunt’s residential home.”

“I do,” Xavier said, handing Tyler his phone back as he stoo...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 15

Chapter 15

“Joshua Wood?”

At Ronan’s calling out, the man stooped over a car engine continued working for another few seconds showing no signs of hearing him, then pulled back and straightened up, turning around to face them, narrowing his eyes as he looked them over.

“Who’s asking?”

Ryan heard his immediate defensive tone and watched the way he squared his shoulders, and took an instant dislike. Not that he didn’t already hate the man, of course. “We are.”

“And who might you ...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 14

Chapter 14

“Hel—”

Travis didn’t make it much past a humph of surprise on opening his motel room door, for Ryan to be already stepping through the doorway, throwing his bag to the floor, and cupping Travis’ jaw with one hand, pulling him in for a breath-stealing kiss. His other hand came up in mirror as he kicked the door closed behind him, before Ryan surged forward, humming in approval as Travis wrapped his arms tight around his waist. Ryan hummed to himself again as he hooked his elb...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 13

Chapter 13

The house looked homely, Ryan decided as he idled the engine while peering up at it through the windscreen. It was a small, well-maintained two-floor building, with a small porch to the side of it, and a good-sized yard that Ryan thought might have been mostly vegetables and herbs extending towards the back. To the front of the house was a variety of flowers planted haphazardly, as though the owner had been experimenting more than knowing what they were doing.

The drive over...

Daily Drivel – This Hill

Original post here

This hill has seen storm, and star, and snow. It has been home to grass, and beast, for turns of centuries and blinks of eyes. This hill has been look-out, and shelter, and fortress for those choosing its vantage point for protection. It is final resting place for so many who have passed. This hill, whose own existence began elsewhere, drifted into position by glacial movement, knows cycle, and change, and growth. This hill knows its place in history, and present, a...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 12

Chapter 12

“Gonna talk to me, or slam the door in my face again?”

Ryan took in the bags under Travis’ eyes and his overall appearance of not having slept as he opened the door, and fought the urge to barge in to the room uninvited, or worse, grab him up in a hug.

“Gonna say something?” Ryan prompted, when Travis did nothing but stare back at him in silence. It had been a long night with next to no sleep for him either, though there had been an excess of cursing himself for letting h...

Things That Go Bump In The Night – Chapter 11

Chapter 11

“So, Travis.”

Ryan caught the teasing tone of Ronan’s voice and had to turn to look, catching his smirk as he glimpsed back, then turned his head to look out the window.

Travis barely looked up from the book he’d picked up to read the back of, and then started reading. “Yes?”

“You missing your bed yet?”

Ryan resisted the urge to swipe out at him, bracing for what was bound to be a barrage of teasing about him and Travis sharing a bed. He was better now, his throat n...

Daily Drivel – Cursed

Original post here

There is no curse like the dawn of day

And its inevitability of starting over again

To taunt that he could never stay.

Even these clouds ridicule. First the grey;

Thin, wispy things promising release, yet come morning, won’t bring me rain—

There is no curse like the dawn of day—

Then, those tinted pink and yellow by ray

Serve only to highlight that to hope, and to love was done in vain,

To taunt that he could never stay.

Why should I ri...

Temptation

The only temptation I have, is to bare my soul to you.
Ooze my words through the windows of your mind,
Engorge every crack and crevice I can find,
Until you are full of me.

The only temptation I have, is to be honest with you,
Prevent the barriers of truth from crashing down
And encaging the words upon which you would frown,
So that you would know the whole of me.

The only temptation I have, is to be vulnerable with you –
Reveal the one thing I’ve been holding back:
You can’t not understand, I...
