Populace

On the 23rd of September 2012, a huge number of UFO sightings were reported worldwide. Numbers steadily increased over the next three years, and witnesses were written off as cranks, unstable, or attention seekers.
When MUFON reported a spike in UFO activity in June 2015, the general populace took no notice. Whether the governments around the world knew and said nothing or were as ignorant as everyone else was at the time is now somewhat irrelevant.
There aren’t so many of us left. Sur...
Daily Drivel – Beneath

Hello! Today’s random word was visible.
The mound where the fort used to be is barely visible, overgrown with grass and moss hiding the structures built beneath. It only looks like a lump almost to the summit of a hill, a natural bump in the landscape perhaps deposited by glaciers long melted. Those who walk over it sometimes comment on the hollow feeling beneath their feet in places; how would they feel if they knew one false move might send them plummeting into a cavernous prison be...

Cursed

Original post here
There is no curse like the dawn of day
And its inevitability of starting over again
To taunt that he could never stay.
Even these clouds ridicule. First the grey;
Thin, wispy things promising release, yet come morning, won’t bring me rain—
There is no curse like the dawn of day—
Then, those tinted pink and yellow by ray
Serve only to highlight that to hope, and to love was done in vain,
To taunt that he could never stay.
Why should I ri...
Daily Drivel – Sanctuary

Hello! Today’s random word was sanctuary.
The dusty bookshelf in the furthest corner of her grandparent’s library was a sanctuary, both for her curious mind and for discarded books so unloved. As heavy storms raged beyond her window, Caitlin would pluck four books by their spines, scatter them across the thick green rug, and flatten each out. A character from the first book would take a quest in the second, while a house in the third loomed in the distance with the villain creeping in...

On Being Guided

Jason’s recently acknowledged his attraction for men. His friend- now boyfriend, Michael, is helping him come to terms with that.

Disgrace

The chicken scratch that is your dialogue and stage direction
Barely stands out on the page of your creation.
The white space is your narcissism and egomania,
Overpowering every false word you spew.
Calling you a disgrace would be
A waste of syllables and use of muscle, so I won’t.
Your arrogance is like an alien forcefield, anyway,
So nothing would pass through.
How dare you,
With the potential that you hold,
Belittle, dismiss, and goad your audience,
And with your gaslighting and defensive tactics
Acc...
Daily Drivel – Snow

Hello! Today’s word is snow and became a drabble.
It was odd to see the sky darkened by snow in the middle of summer, when earlier that day there hadn’t even been a single cloud. Chris left the office early since he’d not had a customer in since lunchtime, making through empty streets on his way home.
Snowflakes began to tickle at his hair and cheek. He brushed them away, only pausing to inspect one landing near the corner of his eye. Black, and crumbly, like no snow he had ever se...

A Restless Heart

Chapter 24

Noise. So much noise. Rain glistened streets looming up beneath his feet and a pounding in his heart that can’t outpace his loss. He’s losing her, he’s going to lose her, and it’s all his fault. Owen staggers down the street swigging from a bottle of whatever it was he got in the bar he just passed, not tasting a drop of it in his struggle to get it down.
She’s going to Chicago. She’s going without him. All these years they’ve been together and th...

Him

He loves him.
It crept up on him slowly,
Seeping into his every pore and thought,
And now,
He doesn’t know how to be without him.
He needs him.
The idea of not having him here
Is a crippling fear,
Stifling like being trapped in a world
Where there is no air or light.
He wants him.
That ache that never leaves
Whether he is with him or alone isn’t pain or agony to be vanquished by any pill.
It is the simple act of part of him being missing,
Only soothed and made whole when he is near.
He has him....

Permission

Todd and Eric have been fooling around together for a while now, though it’s never got beyond much more than a lot of drunken fumbling. That’s about to change…
