August 22nd 2021 Update

Adept of Chaos is up to about 147,500 words, and in the final stretch of the book. I give even odds I’ll finish the rough draft this week, but I’m not absolutely sure. What I am sure of is that this is going to be one monstrously-sized book for me. I honestly expected this book to be closer to 100,000 or so words, maybe as much as 110,000. If you’re curious about how many ‘pages’ that is, as a rough estimate your average paperback has ~350 words per page. That means a 100,000 word book is about ...

August 15th 2021 Update

Adept of Chaos is currently up to roughly 135,000 words, which makes it my longest non-omnibus novel to-date… and I’m not sure how much longer it’ll be. I’m guesstimating 145,000 words, but I’m not sure. Depends on how much combat is in the next section, really. And the moment I typed that, I was sure it’s going to go over that.

I’m honestly startled at how long this book has turned out. That’s mostly because a section I expected to be smaller was rather long, and I’m not sure it fits perfect...

August 8th 2021 Update

Adept of Chaos is now up to approximately 122,500 words! I pushed myself a little this past week to get some extra done, but I’ve still got a decent amount of plot to get through. I’m not sure how long it’ll end up being at this point, but I doubt it’ll hit the 150,000 word mark.

I’ve also been working a little on some projects for fun, some silly LitRPG/Dungeon Core ones, but I’m not sure if they’re things I want to publish. Though calling them ‘little’ shows how much things have changed for...

August 1st 2021 Update

Adept of Chaos is up to ~108,000 words, and trucking along. I hope to finish the rough draft this month, but we’ll see what happens. I like how it’s coming along, but I don’t have any guarantee on that. There’s still a lot to write in the story itself, and I’m looking forward to some of the coming insanity.

July 25th 2021 Update

I’ve got a bunch of things to tell you about today, so let’s get started!

First of all, I got confirmation this past week that Podium Audiobooks has the audio of Chosen of Chaos available for pre-order on Amazon and Audible, which I linked. The audiobook is narrated by Abby Craden, and will be released on August 24th. I’m looking forward to seeing what they did with it!

July 18th 2021 Update

Adept of Chaos is up to about 82,500 words, which makes me happy. Not quite as far along as I’d hoped, but it’s been a bit of a week for me. I’m enjoying writing the story, though!

July 11th 2021 Update

Whoops, I forgot to set up the blog post last night. That’s what happens when I get distracted, I suppose. Anyway, Adept of Chaos is up to ~72,500 words, and going strong. I’m not sure exactly how long it’ll be, but I’ll be shocked if it’s less than 100,000 words. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being my longest book to-date, but a lot depends on how quickly the plot I have left goes.

July 4th 2021 Update

First off, to those who’re in the United States, Happy Independence Day! I hope that we avoid any alien invasions!

Adept of Chaos is up to ~62,500 words, and I think it’s a bit over halfway done, but I can’t be sure until I get to the end. I’m expecting that I won’t get a full week’s worth of writing this coming week due to traveling, but we’ll see how it works out. With any luck, I’ll get the rough draft done by mid-August, but I can’t make any promises right now.

Last weekend I had a vacation with my wife for our anniversary, which gave me a little time to relax on the whole. It went through a chunk of this week, so I didn’t get a lot done… but Adept of Chaos is up to ~50,000 words, and I’m expecting to focus on it as much as I can. Alright, not much got done this week. I did another editing pass on my side project, then sent it off to my editor to take a look at it. Then I spent two days reading a whole pile of books and essentially ignoring the world, so… yeah, not much happened.
