Destination: Nowhere
Behind you I trail
picking up the pieces
you toss aside.
Like September rain,
I clean up the messes
that you leave behind.
Exhausted,
I have been carrying all your worries
solving all your problems,
and you do not even seem to care.
I’ve inherited all your troubles,
been hurting in the perils
that you throw us into.
The time has come
for me to say goodbye,
to stop singing you a lullaby,
time for you to finally grow up.
Like a lone cactus in a barren desert,
you have prickled those
who have come to help,
and now you are left all alone.

Coffee
Caffine is a miniscule medic,
Offering promises of awakening to
Fateful minds which seek relief
From the shackles of
Exhaustion. Cups restore
Energy balance.

Human Nature
People are liars, they deceive,
they bait with their warm smiles,
awaiting for the right moment
to snap you in half between their jaws.
Words are tools that he fears,
their sharp edges reflecting light,
they knock outside his home,
unwelcome.
His back against the wall,
he will never trust you behind his back
for you may stab his unguarded side
with the sword you have been honing.
You may think he should not be afraid,
the numerous scars on his skin
would scream otherwise.

Serenity
Elongated neck
stretched out,
feeling whole
finding beauty
in the stillness.
Pursed lips
eyes shut,
dark lashes distract
from the errors
on my face.
Inhale gently,
exhale even gentler,
maintaining poise.
My skin floats
on the silk sheets
like a swan
on calm waters,
gracefully.

Here I Stand
Twenty three years
rooted in soils almost barren,
survived scorching suns
and flooding storms.
Resilient, I still stand,
patiently hoping
to blossom.
All the scars on my crooked stem
mean nothing
when the winds whistle
a serene tune
to which I dance.

Excuse Me
A wide grin is sown onto my silly face,
an expression
that you have called fake.
Excuse me,
if I do not spend
my day wailing
on yesterday.
Excuse me,
if I refuse to die
over embarassment
that has long gone by.
Excuse me,
if I try to be
the only light
in an underground tunnel.
Excuse me,
if I paint
grim walls
with colourful graffiti.
Honestly…
Do not excuse me
’cause I would not
apologise for who I am,
even if my glee rubs you
the wrong way.

A Stroll in the Void
They grew impatient,
eyes locked in a tussle,
both huffing exaspirated breathes.
Clock’s hands gyrate tirelessly
before she murmurs
a word in disarray.
She peaked into his soul
and saw a fragment of her shattered entity
wandering astray in his inapt domain
as if it was never hers.
For he too gathered all her disseminated dreams
filched from her sheenless eyes
to fulfill them as his very own.

Bloody Ink
Seated on an electric chair
wires planted in my brain
broadcasting my deepest fears.
A quill gripped in my palm
struck forcefully in my veins,
crimson-red blood scribbled
on grimy floors.
This excrutiating pain
is not worth
the rusty coins
you toss in my face.

Prompt: Why is writing a punishable craft?

Intersection
Consciousness stood still
as your path intersected mine,
a brief moment of bliss.
Suffering a cruel fate,
passages cross at ninety degrees,
an angle too wrong
to be named right.
