Just Another Example
A crescent moon
in a crowded starlit sky,
different.
A thirsty shrub
surrounded by a sandy desert,
all alone.
A dolphin
in a pool full of people,
dignity abused.
A bird
caged between metal bars
freedom entrapped.
A dormant volcano
in sight of eruptions,
classified dead.
Amidst millions of human beings,
I am just another example
of the above.

Set for Adventure
Sleeping bag, check,
bottled water, check,
food stored, check,
other necessities, check.
Backpack is overflowing,
prepared for emergencies
that may rise unexpectedly.
It weighs down my shoulders,
heavier than I would like it to be,
motivatation gives me the strength to carry.
I look up,
roadsigns stare
just fever meters
ahead of me.
My brain holds a map
to every destination,
I could walk each path
with my eyes closed
but my mind is hazy,
undecided
on which way
I’d like to take.

Demolished
Poised and polite,
a gentleman
trustworthy
of all your belongings.
You hand him your heart,
clenched teeth shatter
the walls around.
But you should not have trusted him
for he spit the bricks
into your sheen eyes,
and devoured your heart
never to be seen again.

Within
Together
we create chaos,
glass shatters in the sight
of our hands held,
gales scratch our windows
when your skin touches mine,
swollen bruises
caused by hostile heartbeats.
You are gone,
the door slammed shut,
after that loud thump
quiet ensues.
Among the debris
of a broken home
within me I find peace.

Silence (Poem Featured in my Book)
I enter the room,
my footsteps echo,
as the cold air
touches my skin.
My heart beating,
body breathing,
no other movement
can be heard.
You are nowhere to be seen,
my eyes remain hopeful,
trying to find a trace
of any of your belongings.
No luck,
I hear the clock tick and tock,
and that is the only sound
I can hear.
The walls keep on closing on me,
time running out,
I am suffocating out of oxygen,
suffering in silence.
Then, I scream,
sound waves breaking out the silence,
can you hear me
squeal in pain?
I try breaking out the walls,
find a way to communicate
but I am locked inside,
constantly knocking for your reply.
There is no light that gives me hope,
darkness shrouds the room,
and I lay here waiting,
I will keep on waiting,
until I hear your voice again.

Angel (Poem Featured in my Book)
From the moment I saw you,
I knew,
you were different.
There was something about your gaze,
it pierced right through me,
creating a feeling
that I had never encountered before.
Your words were like prophecies,
showered from the heavens,
carried by an angelic vessel – your soul.
My lips can speak in four languages,
when they touched your lips
it became five,
building a whole new library
of unspoken words and body language.
Like an angel,
you swooped me from above,
lifted me higher,
together we started soaring
until my whole world changed.
I am sure that words cannot do justice
to the experience you brought to me;
yet I will do my best
to express
all the beautiful things
you make me feel.

A Chill in the Air
Among the angels you soar,
devil disguised in white feathers.
Your heart, too frigid,
chills launch as you breath,
freezing the clouds around.
The pain you wished to inflict
is crushed in vain,
covered in fluffy snow
descending slowly in a dance,
bringing hope
as the layers of white
wash away
the memories of yesterday.

The Balloon Man
Within a maze of books,
on a dusty shelf
lays a legend
long forgotten.
A man held on to his dreams
like a child to his balloons,
their shell was mesmerising
and their size huge,
but inside
they were as hollow as his head.
They lifted him up,
floated through the clouds
in sunshine, rain and thunder.
Elevated too high in the sky,
intense pressure
exerted on the fragile,
the balloons imploding
one by one.
And he plummeted quickly
to the ground,
hurt and alone
in a land unknown.
