Thankful

I am thankful to all who have purchased a copy of the book “Baqash”.

I am thankful to two very good friends Phyllis Hartman and Mark Olson, who have championed my book and been there in a time of need to uplift my spirit.

I’m thankful to John Shellcrosslee, he’s always been that ear I can bend and a person I can lean on when my faith is running low.

I’m thankful for my beautiful bride, she’s been there to help me every step of the way. I cannot say enough words to express my thankfulness to her.

Most of all I’m thankful to our amazing God and Creator who brought these people into my life, has opened doors to allow these books to be written, and who has forgiven my from my sins through the shed blood on the cross by His Son, Jesus Christ.

The Rapture

About 21 years ago (1995) the term “The Rapture” was brought to the forefront of Christian society. Debates and discussions occurred, asking if Christians would be Raptured: pre-, mid-, or post-Tribulation. Quite a few leaned heavily upon the pre-Tribulation side of the debate. As for myself I’m “pan-Tribulation”, it’ll pan out in God’s timing and His way.

My concern is that many may have taken the pre-Tribulation Rapture approach and thought within themselves: “I don’t have to worry. I’m going to heaven before any of the disasters begin.” And they relaxed. They quit chasing God as hard as they once had. When I read the Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) I am concerned for many Believers. What if, while not having a care in the world, we don’t keep our lanterns topped off?  What if we quit being vigilant? How many may have fallen away because they became apathetic?  “I’m good, God’s good, I’m not going to see any tribulation this side of paradise.”

Now I’m certain that many who believe in the pre-Tribulation Rapture are still keeping their lanterns topped off with oil. To all who seek God diligently, keep up the good work.

Baqash is written in a world where the Rapture hasn’t happened yet. What will life be like for the every-day Christian in a society that has collapsed? Will Christians be hunted down and martyred?  What if you were stuck in such a society? How would you fair? When the Mark is instituted how will you obtain food?

Baqash puts Sarah in a world that blames all Christians and Jews for the condition of their world.

Jesus’ Baptism

Today I began to leaf through Matthew, which is my favorite book in the Bible. I’ve always wondered why Jesus was baptized.

“But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him.” – Matthew 3:14-15

John the Baptist, I believe, was a prophet. See Matthew 11:14. And one of the prophet’s jobs was to anoint the king.

“Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.” – 1 Samuel 16:13

I think, at Jesus baptism, we see several things:

1. He didn’t need to repent since He had no sin, so the baptism wasn’t necessary for that reason. See 2 Cor. 5:21

2. I believe he was baptized to be the forerunner for our own baptisms(we are to follow His example – Matthew 28:16-20).

3. He is the King and tradition maintained that prophets anoint kings. See 1 Timothy 13-16.

4. He was anointed Chief Priest. See Exodus 30:30 & Heb. 7:17

“After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”” – Matthew 3:16-17

And He came for us.

At lunch I found this on the employee pegboard. I didn’t even know that it made the Newton County Enterprise.

Darash Update

Baqash is selling quite well. I ordered 5 more copies for friends and family at church. Praying those copies will be in by the 23rd.

Darash (Baqash Book 2) is coming along well. I’ve written 14 chapters so far. This book is a very different write from Baqash because we follow multiple characters, not just Sarah.

Darash starts off when Sarah and Jackson part company with Carter’s group. We end up following Janalee, Patricia, Carter and Nathan. Maxwel and his lady friend Terry make a few appearances in the book (book 4 will be more about them). There are also two villains in this book, one likens himself to a Civil War general.

I think Darash will be about 600 pages, Baqash is 310. Whatever the result, I wait on Him for the inspiration of the story.

Have a blessed evening

Building Up

Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. –  1 Thessalonians 5:11

That seems like a tall order these days when the world is focused on tearing the other person down. We’ve become a ‘me’ centric society. What if we were focused on lifting each other up rather than thinking, “how can I get ahead in life”?

What would America look like today?

What is “Baqash”?

Baqash is an End Times book. It isn’t about super heroes or ultimate evil. It’s about people like you and me. Perhaps you’ve met someone like Sarah(the main character) or Jackson at some point in your life. They were dealing with their own sins and circumstances that were out of their control. And all they had to cling to was God and each other.

Baqash is a book about life, love, and death wrapped up into the worst time period in human history. It’s about sins and redemption, fear and faith, as well as tears and revenge. Baqash is born of the very real stuff of life.

Desires

One of my big dreams has come true: publishing a book, “Baqash”. Other hopes and desires have come true as well: wife, baby-girl, a truck and a dog(well two dogs but one is more like a cat).

Another hope and dream is to honor our Father by getting and staying out of debt and living off of the income the books bring in. We want to honor Him in all things that we say or do.

Lastly, our biggest hope is to find a nice big property with a house. We want to put two cottages on it and let pastors, elders, & their spouses stay in them for free. We want to provide a place for them to unwind and focus on being a couple again. We’d also partner with local pastors in case someone needed some counsel. And we’d lend a listening ear or just play board games with them if they’d want, or invite them to our house for dinner.

Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4

What are some of your deepest hopes, dreams, and desires? Please share

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. – Matthew 6:33
