Darash – The First Reader
Many of you know Phyllis H. I cannot thank God enough for this lady. She and her husband were honorary grandparents at our wedding. She’s given me much insight into the writing of Darash. If not for God speaking through her, Troy wouldn’t be the interesting character that he is.
With that said, she’s also my first-first reader. As I write the chapters, I give them to her, perhaps five at a time. Many of these last chapters are cliffhangers. Imagine having to wait a week to find out what the conclusion is to the last cliffhanger!
I better hurry up and get this rough draft done. I just finished chapter 30. 17 chapters (41,600 words) are left to write.
If you’d like to be a first reader (after my first re-write) and are local to me, let me know and I will get you a copy

Monday – Darash
Monday was a big day for writing. I was able to punch out almost 3 chapters for a total of 6670 words which equals 27 pages. We’re at 72,945 words so far for Darash.
Lamentations 3:25
טֹוב יְהוָה לְקֹוָו לְנֶפֶשׁ תִּדְרְשֶֽׁנּוּ׃
Yĕhovah towb qavah nephesh darash.
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. – (NASB)

Chapter 25 – Darash
I just wrapped up chapter 25 of Darash. It’s time to take a deep breath. 55 percent of the book is already written, which is about 267 pages. Chapter 25 is the shortest chapter at almost five pages.
The deep breath? Yeah. If you thought Baqash was fast, wait until you hit chapter 25. Because over the next 216 pages a main character will stand before the Idol of Apophis. A woman will free a group of imprisoned children. A sniper will finally make his first kill. Carter and Janalee will make a run for J.F.K. airport. And a villain will finally catch the prey he’s been seeking.
Two primary antagonists and 7 protagonists traverse the ruins of New York City, which is packed with millions who have the Mark. All of this happening within a six hour period.
Phew. I’m excited to see it unfold.

Baqash Review
“This novel, while not in my usual genre, gave me pause to think – and isn’t that EXACTLY what an author wants us to do when we read their work? Kudos to you, Mr Wilson, from your characters, to the fast-paced plot, to the overall story line, I was right there with Sarah to the end. Only it wasn’t really the end – no, it’s the beginning of a well-plotted and crafted story that will take us on a journey of epic and Biblical proportions. Thankfully, there WILL be more to come.” – Stephen E. Workman

Baqash at Heilbronn, DE
The wife and daughter of my friend and coworker, Jeff Rathburn, traveled to Heilbronn, Germany for family vacation. I asked if they could take a copy of Baqash and October Falling (both written in English) to the public library – if they had time. Colena sent me these photos of them at the library.

Thank you ladies for dropping off the books.

Darash Excerpt
A brief excerpt from the rough draft of “Darash”. In a school room, in a half-destroyed one level elementary school:
Patricia sat there, holding Jackie’s hand. Emily sat on the floor on the other side of her, ready to retrieve Calla. Calla unlatched and fell asleep. Jackie breathed her last. Patricia began to cry. “It’s not fair…”
Emily retrieved Calla from her mother’s arms and wrapped her into a puffy winter jacket. She stood up beside Patricia and put her hand on her shoulder. “It’ll be okay. We will raise Calla in God’s ways. Father, thank you for this beautiful life. Help us to guard her and raise her unto you.”
“Amen.” Patricia spoke between sobs.
“We need to get her into the warm Humvee. Did you find supplies?”
Patricia stood up and nudged the bag with her foot. “A few cans of formula and a few bottles. I found them in the nurse’s station down the other hallway.” She stood up and grabbed the bag. They headed out into the hall.
“Could you find the boys and meet me in the Humvee?”
“Sure.” Patricia walked briskly down the hall and to the left.
Emily looked the baby in the face, she was so beautiful. An image of her Creator. “Calla, I will do my best to protect you.”
Emily walked up to the front door, slipped carefully through its opening and outside. She looked left and her breath caught. “Please protect us.” She whispered. Down at the four way stop she saw the old power wagon, Garven was behind the wheel!

Emily is one of the new character in Darash. God has given her a very interesting mission. In this book, a few of Carter’s followers (here we read about his stepdaughter – Patricia) travel east to New York, New York. Each one trying to discern God’s will in their life during the most troubling time in earth’s future.
I’m hoping to get Darash out by October 1st, 2017. If all goes well, it will be much sooner than that. I’m 48% through the rough draft right now.

The Holy Spirit
[image error]
– A. W. Tozer “Tozer Speaks” compiled by Gerald B. Smith
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,” Ephesians 5:18-19(ESV)
Do we share with one another how God has blessed us this week? How God has helped us this week? Or do we just say, “God blessed my socks off”?
I want to be on fire for our Lord!

The Way of Sin
For at the window of my house I looked out through my lattice, And I saw among the naive, And discerned among the youths A young man lacking sense, Passing through the street near her corner; And he takes the way to her house, In the twilight, in the evening, In the middle of the night and in the darkness. – Proverbs 7:6-9 (NASB)
This Scripture speaks about a young man going in to an adulteress. But I ask myself, could it be applied to any sin?
We know the path of sin. We know how to get to it. We know how to embrace it and love it. When I read this passage I get the vision of a man walking by her house. He has learned from friends where it is. So, he walks by one day, in the middle of the day, and has a look at it. “Aha, that is where she lives.” Then on the next day he walks by and glances at the door and the windows. He’s not sinning right? On the third day he stops and stares for a moment, she comes out, has a look around and then goes back in. She is enticing and beautiful.
Later: twilight (nesheph – twilight), evening (‘erev – sunset), night (layil – night), and darkness (‘aphelah – darkness, gloominess, calamity, wickedness) he goes up to her door. Hidden and in secret, he’s wrapped in dark clothing so no one can recognize him.
It’s always the little decisions that lead up to the sin. If we would just avoid going past her door, if we wouldn’t gaze at the nice flower pot on her steps, we wouldn’t sin.
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:12-13New American Standard Bible (NASB)
