Trust

It’s a hard thing to do… to learn to trust God. It takes time, patience, and a willingness to not be in control.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord

And whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit. – Jeremiah 17:7-8

When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. – Psalm 56:3

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

It’s taken me years to learn that God is for me, that his plans, and goals for are what is best for me (see Jeremiah 29:11). But I have learned that He is a good, glorious, and trustworthy God.

$5 Char-cloth from Blue Jeans

Normal char-cloth made from t-shirts or shop rags is very brittle. Blue jeans are much more resiliant yet can still take to flame from a ferro rod.

Wealth

There is one who pretends to be rich, but has nothing; Another pretends to be poor, but has great wealth. – Proverbs 13:7

It all depends on where your riches are. If your riches are in worldly things, then you pretend to be rich.

If your riches are not in worldly things, but rather in God, you have great wealth.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:33

The humble and lowly. Those that depend entirely upon God for their spiritual food are the riches of all because He will give to them bountifully.

Royalty

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. – 1 Peter 2:9-10

Sometimes, nay, most of the time we forget that we are princes and princesses. We forget that God has chosen us. We forget that we are holy.

Not because of anything we have done. No, in spite of what we have done. He is the one that has done this for us. Only Jesus.

Do not forget who you are and Whose you are. You are purchased and loved dearly.

Walmart Hobo Stove

This week we make a 5 dollar hobo stove out of parts I find at Walmart. One of the main features of this stove is that it is unmodified. No Dremel… no tin snips… no file to get rid of sharp edges. Safe for my daughters to handle once the stove is cool. Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/7kOisvR9s_s

Monkey Wrench

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” – Luke 22:31-32

I read this Scripture and the first thing that comes to mind is Job.

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord. – Job 1:12

A lot of lessons can be taken from this passage in Luke:

First: Satan has to ask permission. He can accuse (Rev. 12:10), he can lie (Genesis 3:1), tempt (Mat. 4:1-11), and seek permission (Luke 22:31),

He has no power or authority unless provided(or allowed) him by God.

He wants to put a monkey wrench into every plan that God has. But he has to ask permission from God.

Second: His earthly power comes from those that fail temptation. The further a person falls from God’s grace, the more they turn to sin (Romans 1:18-32) and (Ephesians 6:12). Judas failed temptation and Satan entered him and he did his bidding(Luke 22:3-6, 47-48).

Third: Jesus prays for those that follow Him (Luke 22:32). He sends His Holy Spirit to comfort us (John 14:16). The Holy Spirit prays for us (Romans 8:26). He saves us (John 3:16). And he empowers us to stand against Satan:

Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

So, in the end, we have been given power to tell Satan that he has no power over us. This is because the Holy Spirit resides in us.

Think about this Scripture as we leave today:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. – 1 Peter 2: 9-10
