Desires of the Heart

Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4

I believe this to be true.

– Desire to serve the Lord

– To do what He wants us to do

– To seek Him out

– To direct us along the path that He has planned for us

– Do not resist and go the opposite way that He has planned

– Look for those amazing openings that we just fit into

The rough draft of Book 4 is almost done. Perhaps I’ll get it done soon. I wait on the Lord. No insight is coming.

My path is shifting away from writing novels to emergency communications assistance using Ham (Amateur) Radio. The drive has shifted into this area. His timing for my desires has always been perfect.

This shift began in December of last year. Long before Phyllis was called home to the Lord. I miss my friend dearly. The Lord spoke through her in quiet, clear, tones. Only sometimes about the books. Mostly about life and the direction of society.

I also wonder if what needed to be written was done so in the previous books. However, I too, would like to see how the stories play out.

I also realized that this needs to be a 7 book series and not 5.

Our Lord has blessed us with 2 amazing daughters. Honestly, friends, I’d rather spend these formative years tickling, giggling, and playing with them.

Life is rough. Where do each of us fit in? The only answer to that is a constant petitioning of our Lord.

Simpler Truths

Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in Christian theology that we forget the simplest, but very profound, parts of Scripture.

This one Scripture keeps rattling around in my head and my heart:

Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

When sin becomes so tempting we often forget that we can flee to God’s Word to get help.

Sometimes simply saying, “Get away from me Satan in Jesus name” is all that we need to do. And trust that God’s Word is True and that Satan will flee.

What else does this Scripture mean?

Simple, profound, and amazing.

This Generation

Pastor on Sunday said something about “generation”. It was one of those Sundays where my attention span wavered. Something akin to: “we are Christ’s generation.” And when he spoke that Scripture came to mind:

Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. – Matthew 24:34-35

To truly grasp this tiny section please read all of Matthew. Jesus is speaking of the End Times. In this passage, however, I always believed that the generation He referred to would be the generation that saw Israel become a nation. May 18, 1948. A generation of people may live from 80 to even 100 years.

But when you look at the Blue Letter Bible concordance we see a different perspective of the word generation. https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&strongs=g1074

Outline of Biblical Usage:

1 fathered, birth, nativity

2 that which has been begotten, men of the same stock, a family

-1 the several ranks of natural descent, the successive members of a genealogy

-2 metaph. a group of men very like each other in endowments, pursuits, character

–1 esp. in a bad sense, a perverse nation

3 the whole multitude of men living at the same time

4 an age (i.e. the time ordinarily occupied be each successive generation), a space of 30 – 33 years

So this “generation” could mean everyone who has accepted that Jesus Christ is Lord and is a child of God.

“This generation shall not pass away until all theses things take place.” What does it mean to us now?

The QRP Life

In the HAM (amateur radio operator) world QRP means to transmit at lower power levels; typically at 5 watts or less. The goal is to conserve power and resources and yet reach someone thousands of miles away or maybe even halfway around the world. Today there are transceivers that can operate at 100 watts. The maximum power a HAM could run is 1,500 watts. But there’s something fascinating and liberating about the minimalist lifestyle.

The QRP lifestyle allows us to focus on the most important things in life: God, Family, and Neighbors.

QRP means you are no longer wrapped up into getting the newest and most awesome piece of gear. It means living life to the fullest with the least material goods to hold us down.

“Two things I asked of You, Do not refuse me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, That I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or that I not be in want and steal, And profane the name of my God.” – Proverbs 30:7-9

What should we do with our extra supplies? Give away what we don’t need. Save enough funds for a decent future. Use our time, money, and talents to help others.

Minimalist.

Zeteo Update

I’m just past the halfway point in writing the rough draft for Zeteo. Hoping for an August release. This book is more difficult for me to write because it is more action based so the ideas come along slowly. Every period put down sets up for the last book of the series which I suspect will be non-stop action.

Book sales are coming along slowly. And the YouTube channel is growing.

The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, But everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty. – Proverbs 2:15

Keeping plugging along, waiting on the Lord.

Hard to Write

Today my thoughts turn to my grandmother-in-spirit. A godly woman who grew up in a lost age when times and people were vastly different. We’ve had many visits over the two to three years we’ve known each other. Each time I feel I have come away the wiser.

I hope to visit her again this Friday, as had become our weekly custom, before the birth of my youngest daughter.

Her prayers brought my wife and I together. Her prayers helped me keep focused on my book series. It amazes me how much drive she has though how frail she has become.

How can one pen a letter describing how awesome a reflection of Christ she is?
