strange times
We do indeed live in strange times. Very often I need to look up weird stuff on the internet while doing research for my novels. Sometimes I must confess that i worry what Big Brother (I know he is listening) will think of my google searches such as "How much is six pounds of cocaine worth?" One the one hand, i am delighted that i have a wondrous device such as this computer and access to the amazing store of information on the world wide web. But I know that all forms of communication are tied into Colossus, to use a sci fi analogy, and I wonder about the times I've looked up crazy stuff and I do ponder that midnight knock at the door.
So there you go, there is an instance of how our post 9-11 world is a weird fucking place, and not a better one.

Other poets who kick ass
I urge anyone who has enjoyed my poetry to check out J.A.Carter-Winward and Phil Volatile. I think they are both tops in their game. Great stuff.

Horror fans take note: One week until Fury of the Chupacabras
The first book in my chupacabra series will drop in one week. I will be giving away free copies here on Goodreads. If you are a fan of fast-paced horror-action with plenty of dark humor, then this book is for you. I had a blast writing it and I think it will prove to be a very entertaining reading experience.
Here is a brief synopsis:
Joe Gifford and his team of professional chupacabra hunters are called to a small town in the Florida panhandle. Upon arrival, they find that the vainglorious rock star Jet Ryder is also in town to hunt the creatures for his reality TV show, “Armchair Warriors.” Forming an uneasy alliance with the show biz people, Joe and his gang set out to destroy the nest of chupacabras hiding in an abandoned school on the edge of town. But chupacabras are not like regular animals and they quickly turn the tables on our beleaguered heroes. Things get out of hand and soon the entire town is besieged. Who will survive the Fury of the Chupacabras?

one more before I go to work
Here is a sample of the goods in my upcoming poetry collection, Brawl At The Poets Cafe:
hero
i try not to burden others
with the appellation of hero
but if i had any
they would be guys like america’s
most decorated WWII vet audie murphy
who gave everything he had for his country
and then suffered silently with PTSD
for the rest of his life
through the years of alcoholism
bad investments
bad movies
bad women and even worse divorces
finally to be lowered into the grave
that all those nazis couldn’t get him into
those many years before
so many of us hate war
but we should never confuse this
with hating the men and women who wear the uniform
and serve with distinction
in simpler terms:
don’t hate the player
hate the game
