Stars & Stripes Forever
both of my grandfathers
fought in WWII
one saw Europe from inside
a Sherman tank
the other hit France
at the end of a silk
parachute
both were wounded
both survived
the tank driver died
after a lifetime
of Pall malls, Chesterfields, and Camels
the Nazis didn't get him

Cinco De Mayo
When I lived in Mexico I was surprised to discover that no one celebrated Cinco De Mayo. All of my Mexican friends dismissed the holiday as something trivial and unimportant. The real barn burner down there is September 16th, Mexican Independence day.

J.A. Carter-Winward
Everyone who likes my poems ought to read this woman. Her poetry is amazing and so is her fiction. I can't say enough good things about her work. It is some of the best poetry I have ever read, right up there with Bukowski, Cohen, Childish, etc. She is the real deal. Check her out.
