Remind ourself of our true creative nature
This doesn’t happen to me often, but it did the other day. I did not want to get out of bed. But I did, and I walked in circles for a while. Then said, fuck it, and went back to bed. I decided I did not want to talk to anyone, and I did not want to work, or do anything. I just wanted to lay there, stretch, and listen to the birds singing beautifully in my garden. I did not want to read, or write, or even drink my morning coffee.
I was not sick. But I was sick and tired of everything. Do you know what I mean? Felt like that lately?
I was bone tired…physically, mentally, emotionally. And I needed, and wanted, to just stop for a day. STOP. Do nothing. And so I did. And once I allowed that for myself, I luxuriated in it. I wanted to be back in alignment with myself and able to move through these times with honesty, ease, and continue to serve and make a difference. But can’t do that if mama doesn’t rest! Proper self-care. And in this case, self-adjustment! Because I do care how I feel.
When I feel good about myself, and in my body and soul, I can move forward and make a change, make a difference, do my work that matters, and have fun while doing it. Joyous living. Even in the hard times, because that is how we move forward and create change. The change we want to see in the world, to be part of the change, to learn and listen and show up in our lives, and for each other.
And we all need to take time for ourselves, to spend time with ourselves, invest in ourselves and our possibilities, and ask for help.
And it didn’t take long for me to bounce back. I do know how to self-adjust, and first it was giving myself permission to stop, to rest, to recalibrate! With compassion, and patience. Oh yeah… And I felt much better about everything, and clearer. Clarity is power, my friend. Knowing how to continue on, envision the possibilities. I say that all the time, that is what my newest book is about, to find fulfillment and prosperity in your creative zone of genius. And create that change! And I can help you do that…

Time for that change!
Hello boo!
Today on my FB Live, Heart and Hustle Live, I talked about what we are wanting to let go of… (you can view it here…

in this time of change and awareness, releasing old patterns of thought, social upheaval, pandemic death and wellness, insane brutality, strong protests and ridiculous looting. Not sure where to turn, or even what to say sometimes… there are some fantastic leaders out there to listen to in this time of change.
I know that what I do makes a difference, and that is my way to help make a change, to empower, to guide, to support, to listen…
And then my question would be, what do you want to add into your life, and how do you want to change?
I am always an advocate for self-care and expansion as we learn what is next, as we go after what we desire, change our ways of thinking, reach out to others, educate ourselves more fully, which will ultimately strengthen us as humans, uplifters, healers, givers.
What is holding us back, keeping us thinking small, keeping us in our cocoon of safety and the bubble of mediocrity and quietness? Can we step up, show up, take a stand in our values, make a change to open up, see what others are going through and be a beacon of light too?
What can you let go of that will only propel you forward with that beautiful intention of living a stronger, more prosperous life, not necessarily one of comfort on your couch, but of making a change, leaping big, being a guiding force, allowing the healer and creator to come through?
I have been reading lots over the past week or so, about Black Lives Matter, with lots of fantastic references for change, acknowledging white privilege, what we can do to make a difference… and I continue to look at how I have lived, and how I can make a change, and to offer my work of helping women stand up to their own power and creativity so they too, can make a difference, and empower themselves, acknowledge each other, listen and learn from our friends, to see what we can do to make the world a better place.
I am reading a friend of mine’s new book, Kathy Milburn… Taking Care of the Special Needs Mom, which is sooooo good! OMG, Kathy, my dear friend, you are amazing and brilliant, and I thank you for your words and the life you are living for yourself, and your special needs daughter…
I don’t have children, but I was drawn to read this book, as we were on the same book writing team. We worked together to get our new books out into the world, birthing this part of us that wants to serve, to share our stories to inspire others, to guide, to lead, from experience and compassion, from skill and desire.
Something I always say to my clients is, you have the choice…,you get to decide. Once you make your decision, that is the way. No try, no maybe, just hell yeah…
And Kathy says in her book,
“ Suffering is optional… Put down the struggle, just lay it down like a walking stick right now.”
She says you can decide to wage war or wage peace. Kathy says to put down the struggle and look to the flow of good. I say this to my clients all the time. Make it easy, friend. I have had several rebel clients who would not bend to make themselves better. They were in constant struggle, wanting to be that different light, the one that won’t listen to any words of advice, even though they ask for it ( and pay for it!). They believe in being self-righteous, and all-knowing type women. And let me ask you, how is that working out? I know that route, as I have taken that road myself. And I’m over that! Aren’t you? Isn’t’ it time for you to make the choice to stop self-sabotaging your life and your desires?
Exactly what do you want to prove by not moving forward? By not claiming your abundance and creative zone of genius, by staying small and rebellious. By being quiet. By not investing in yourself, your life, your career, your power and glory?
Yes, I can still be rebellious, I can be a fighter, but I am a sacred rebel, I fight for a cause, I know the reason and the outcome, and most importantly, I know that I come first. Always, so I can do my finest work, and share and shine and guide and lead…and have a great time doing it.
We are all a work in progress. And we are here to expand and shine our light. We are here to be a possibilitarian!

Excerpt from Chapter 1
On the Verge of Becoming
I have seen so many women on the verge of becoming, standing up, sharing their amazingness, and yet they back down for so many reasons. “It’s easy to stay small,” they say. They have a certain level of comfort and don’t want to leave that zone. They don’t feel like their vision is important or that what they have to say, to contribute, is worthy. There is too much competition and others are better than them. It has been done before. No one wants to read their poetry or they won’t be able to find students for the class they want to teach or they are not good enough. They suffer from imposter syndrome, thinking they don’t know enough. They feel inadequate with lots of self-doubt.
Does any of that sound like you?
Well friend, I’m here to tell you a thing or two! You are so worth it, my love. Your words need to be read or heard. Your dance needs to be taught and seen. Your paintings need to grace other walls. Your lessons need to be taught and shared. Your designs are wanting to be someone’s website. Someone out there is waiting for you. The universe is waiting for you to say, “Hell yeah, this is my time and look what I have to offer!”
You, dear one, is all you’ve got. Not your house or your friends or your car or your cabin in the woods, although all those things are pluses and part of your dreams and desires. But you, everything inside that brain, that body, heart, soul, is what you have to give, share, give back, teach, and make a difference. What you have will touch one person who then touches another and then another, that lovely trickle-down effect! Pass it on. This is living, and making a difference in the world. Caravan of Dreams
Caravan of Dreams
It’s all about the journey. The path one takes in life, in creation, in movement, in being. Not the end destination, but to follow one’s calling, one’s dreams, one’s heart and soul. To be present in the moment, to embody the path of one’s vision. And enjoy the ride.
And what a ride the road has been on with this Caravan of dreams, the poetic, exotic, divinely inspired road of dance and sisterhood and creation, co-creation, evolution, and revolution. The road that was named Gypsy Caravan 30 years ago, and hundreds of years ago. Tribal bellydance was born, a dance of the world, a dance for all women of the world, to come together. Yes, that was the idealistic vision back before internet possibilities. A dance of the soul, a dance to connect to each other, a moving meditation. A dance that unites all cultures, all races, all the women. Basic, tribal, circular and feminine. Spiraling through the body, a dance that feels good on all bodies of all ages. Safe, gorgeous, physically rewarding. A dance to feel alive, to feel connected within oneself, to be in the moment.
A dance that was all the things, inspired by the ancients, by different healing modalities, withing different countries, adding assorted layers of multicultural mish mash of fabrics and stylings and gracefully laden baubles and beads and tassels. A romantic notion of wandering gypsies, of gathering tribes, circles of expression, the traveling caravans of yesteryear combined with the life of today, the past made modern, reflections of made-up visions of barefoot stomping down dirt roads taking over city streets, with heartbeat rhythms of drums and wailing zurnas and swaying melodies to move the heart.
Intuitively inspired movements became the foundation. Women flocked to be part of this connection of something more powerful than the one, the union of hips and eyes and wrists circling in collective unison, with swishing skirts and lipstick covered smiles. Glitter and binids, and turbans and feathers covered the curvaceous bodies. Gypsy Caravan Dance Company was born of all of these things, with the unknown future, but to see the light of years of determination and love and passionate soul connecting and sharing. 
Sharing the glory of the dance, the sisterhood, the feel good moments turned lifestyle of living to the fullest, of shimmying with the dream of the early vision of connecting women of the world. Gypsy Caravan Tribal Bellydance spread across the city, then the country, then the world. And the early dream was coming true. Wandering gypsies, traveling in dreams of caravans, like in the old movies, ready for adventure, for exploration.
And this was not only an exploration of the travels on the road, of the mapping out of different cultures, from India to Africa to Spain, to Morocco, to Turkey, to the United States, and all places, encompassing the little girl dreams of being a dancer, of dancing, not the strict ballerina pointed toe dances, but the stomping feet and thrusting hips of defiance and womanliness and freedom and individual ideas of beauty, of flying freak flags of tattooed glory, of fitting in when there was no other place to fit in, of finding something unique but collectively gathering, soulmates, heartmates, creativity allowed. All bodies, all ages, all sizes. Of experimentation and flowing bodies, improvising with the collective language. Dances of healing, of celebration.
Those early dreams were coming into fruition, uniting women, and men, with the dance and the music that the Gypsy Caravan musicians made, also from the same cloth, giving other inspired reasons for joining the tribe. That dirt road expanded around the globe, with the amazing tech age allowing those connections, through film and video and photographs and music, and now Zoom!
Others, too, came and learned and became part of the whole, building on their dreams too. Ways of life, creating accoutrements of the dance, making music, teaching and spreading the love, with excitement, the thrill of the ghawazee, the romantic notions of the wandering gypsies turned into reality and glory and new paths to be forged. Variations on a theme, yet always connected by the inner landscape of the memories of those early soul-driven dreams.
The caravan has gone viral with beauty and joy, what was once a little girl dream, through the phases of motherhood, sharing the gifts of the dance, raising children around the world. Circling around the globe through the years leading to the leadership of the crone, the quiet acknowledgement of what has become. With pride, heart-opening shares, the crone changes paths, as a continuously prolific creative one does, from years of creation, from the body to the page, and back to the body, from the studio to the stage, from the dirt road of the early wagon wheels, to the to vintage trailer rolling along, to the roaring engines of the soaring planes, from the rustic nomadic dreams to the inspired global connections. The journey continues.
The spokes of those early wheels have spread far and wide in a glorious burst of creation, new creation, continued creation, but remembering to keep alive the rites and rituals of the divinely embodied early visions. Newer visions abound. The bodies continue to flow and sway with more far reaching sisters and brothers, creating joy, touching souls, sharing dreams, living life with the abundance of all this dance has given.
Because of the growth and expansion and evolutions of the times, and with the glorious possibilities ahead, the Global Caravan, with the new phases and the desired evolution of a name change from the Gypsy Caravan, has been born from the soul and the hips of a mother, has evolved from those early dreams and travels on, always growing and creating and spreading the connection of life, and continuing on a road well traveled!
