So for this week’s faves, I am raving about this one:
Being Vibrantly Alive!
I read this woman’s article and just had to share it with you… gave me the spine tingling I know that feeling feeling! This is my kind of trance dance, dance bliss, moving meditation… I’ll excerpt it a little her for you, but go to her site to read the whole awesomeness…she does amazing spiritual work too…
Introducing Raw Dancing: Getting Down & Dirty & Beyond Ego, with Belinda Davidson
Don’t you love it when you have a life-altering moment? One of those moments when everything falls into place and you experience absolute clarity and resolution?
One of these ‘moments’ happened to me some months back. I stumbled across something so profound and consciousness shifting that I knew I had reached above and beyond, and had become a new person.
It happened on the day I became a raw dancer.
The moment found me whilst in bed, curled up and feeling low. I had had a major change in the structure of my business and needed to ‘let someone go.’ That someone was not only a valued employee but a dear friend, so I was trapped in a conundrum.
My head was a vice, and my body was stagnant with stress. I couldn’t find resolution or peace.
Then came a flash of inspiration, “Move your body,” so I pressed play on the first thing I could find on my itunes, and started to dance. Within a few moments, I was feeling less heady and more grounded, and as I continued to move, I could feel the stress sliding off.
It was peeling off me and moving out into the floor beneath me. Almost trance-like, I started to jump up and down, just doing what my body wanted, and as this happened the ‘peeling’ quickened.
My movements then became ecstatic as I started to gyrate, thrash around and shake (not simultaneously!). I was getting down and dirty with it, following the flow of what my body wanted to do.
Then suddenly the ‘peeling ecstasy’ ceased, and I was engulfed in a delicious nothingness. It was as if I’d ceased to be and was consumed by emptiness. It was thrilling to be dissolved, and oh, so freeing!
It was then that my dancer was born.
~~~~~
Now many of you know that I am a big advocate for journaling, for doing the Morning Page (or afternoon or evening!), for emptying out all the monkey chatter in your brain. Ran across this article too, for you…and for sure check him and his site out, and his new book!
How Interrupting Your Sleep Can Silence Your Doubts and Boost Your Creativity
How to spark your early morning creative ideas
Step 1
Pick a creativity issue you’d like to deal with. Perhaps you’re faced with a specific problem in your creative work. Maybe you’d like to generate some new creative ideas. Whatever it is, take some time to think about what you’d like to focus on and clearly define the area of focus in your own mind.
Step 2
For a week, or as many days as you can manage, set your alarm for half an hour earlier than normal. You’ll need to place a notepad and pen beside your bed before you go to sleep.
Step 3
The moment you awake in the morning, and without talking to anyone or reading or listening to anything, immediately pick up your pad and pen and begin to write free-style, either specifically about the creative issue you want to deal with, or about anything else that pops into your head.
Write for a full 30 minutes without stopping then put your pad aside without reading what you’ve written. Yes, you’ll be half asleep as you do it – that doesn’t matter. In fact, that’s the whole point. As drowsy and dopey as you probably feel, just start writing and 30 minutes later, stop.
Step 4
Repeat this process each day (without reading what you wrote the day before). Once you’ve reached the end of the week – or have at least completed several days of writing – read what you’ve written.
Step 5
You might find it helpful to ask yourself some self-coaching questions to extract the full benefit from the exercise:
What immediately strikes you about what you’ve written? Jot down any impressions or questions that have been stimulated.
What surprises you about what you’ve written?
What doesn’t surprise you about what you’ve written?
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned from the exercise?
What’s the single most important thing you can do as a result of what you’ve learned in this exercise that will help move you forward in your creative life?
Meet Cinzia from Gypsy Caravan Dance Company!
Hello friends, on this glorious October day!
I am so happy to introduce you to Cinzia DiCioccio, dancer in Gypsy Caravan, world traveler, Yogi instructor, and has just opened her own movement studio in Milan, Italy — Love, Light, Joy...how awesome is that?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am Tribal Bellydance Artist and Yoga Teacher.
I joined Gypsy Caravan Dance Company in 2011 after a long preparation with my teacher and friend Paulette Rees-Denis.
Since when I met Paulette in 2005, I was fascinated by her vision of Tribal Bellydance. I loved the idea of being together, sharing the dance with other women, being part of “something” all together.
Soon I decided that Tribal Bellydance was my destiny. I stated to study seriously trough the Gypsy Caravan certification program. Especially during CS 3 and CS4, dancing with dancers that I have never met before, I understood the power of tribal belly dance, its subtle body language, the secret deep connection we were able to build. It was a revelation to me.
After many years of practice and after two years in Gypsy Caravan Dance Company I still feel the same happiness each time I dance with my Sisters. Sometimes we meet all together after a long time but one dance is enough to re-create the magic.
Tribal Bellydance is more than a dance, it becomes a philosophy of life. Through my personal experience I can say that this dance offers a broader vision of life to live peacefully and responsibly in everyday relationships.
When we dance everyone always has a dual role: leader and follower. Being a leader means taking responsibility, leading the group in respect of the elements who compose it, trying to create unity, synchronicity, and well-being among each other. Being a follower means having confidence in the leader, not to challenge their decisions, to let go of ego, and follow with commitment and serenity. When I dance with my Sisters I forget who I am, I am entranced; my being is in full, cheerful, and complete harmony with those whom I am dancing with, in that time and space.
Tribal bellydance to me is very similar to the Yoga philosophy of life: being part of a Whole where each particle and each living creature has its own importance because it contributes to the harmony of the Whole.
Besides being a dancer I am also a dance and yoga instructor; my mission is to teach people to feel good, physically, mentally and spiritually. I think it is very important to offer tools like nutrition advices, breathing and relaxation techniques, exercise routines, affirmations and positive thinking to keep the whole human being with a good vital energy.
Working with Paulette gave me the opportunity to grow as a person and as a teacher and I feel grateful to be part of this project and contribute to it.
_______________
Thank you Cinzia, for your dance and your words and your beautiful Tribal spirit, full of life and love!
You can check her out here .

Taking Tribal Global!

Hello audacious ones!
What makes you audacious, you ask?
You are showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks. You are very confident and daring : You are marked by originality and verve. You go after what you want. You stand up for what you believe.
I say, stand up my friends! Own it. LIfe is too full and beautiful to not live it fully and with your whole heart and soul! Full of life! Freaking fabulous!
I do this, and you know, it is because I dance. I dance, Tribal Bellydance, because it makes my spirit soar, my heart come alive, my body energized and healthy. It makes me laugh and cry and share and learn and watch, all the other dancers, all the other people around me. And feel confident, and proud, and able to go after my passions. Connection. Magic. Oh yeah…
Shelby writes:
Dance is a bridge from the ethereal to the physical. It’s a way for the spirit to demonstrate it’s gigantic-ness, its lack of boundary; its power. Dance can draw a crowd, can hold a room, can command a space or settle a vibe. Dance is unspoken, but can speak a thousand words.
And that is what we experienced for our immersion last week, with all the dancers that flew into Portland to study with myself and Amanda Richardson for the Collective Soul and Teacher Training Intensives. They stood up, danced, talked, laughed, cried, wrote their hearts out, examined the why’s of their dance, the history, the beauty, the connection. They fulfilled their dreams, and so much more.
A few of these amazingly courageous dancers wrote to me after the three consecutive intensives (7 days!) were over….
I did not expect to learn so deeply this past week. Honestly, I showed up with such an open mind, I was ready for anything. hank you for being you; for providing dancers like me with a structure that will let us shine and carry on the beauty of Tribal Dance. SJ
Thank you, Paulette, for a memorable two days of Collective Soul One. It took me three days to descend from my Tribal CS high, and in the process I experienced a wide range of emotions and new awareness of body and mind. To say that my “gift box” has expanded to overflowing is an understatement. These new gifts include a much deeper connection with the music — I was able to identify all of the rhythms you worked with us on, a deeper connection to my whole body in movement, as well as a deep connection to the courageous feminine spirit – watching the women that I danced with bare their souls to receive your and Amanda’s teachings. One of the biggest gifts was to able study with you in person, to feel your encouragement and support. This Tribal journey is fascinating, joyful, and soul expanding, and I am so very grateful to you for your life’s work in creating this beautiful and powerful dance and paving the way for all of us. With much appreciation, WW
I got more out of the course…I learned about the various steps, but I learned a lot about life and me! You were terrific teachers, pointing out what I need to work on and always staying positive. What a tremendous honor to learn from both of you! CMT
I got so much more than I ever could have anticipated! I am overwhelmed by what I have received. I feel filled to overflowing with love and appreciation for the global community! VW
I felt safe, loved, and honored. SJ
I am honored. To do my life’s work, and to be able to share it and see the trickle down effect of empowerment, beauty, wellness, laughter, lust for life, and the dance!
And now my friends, Thank you for being here and sharing the global Tribal love!
With respect.
Paulette
and enjoy your weekend…

Taking Tribal Global… Friday, What is Rocking my World!
Taking Tribal Global…
Friday, What is Rocking my World!
As we are rolling into Friday, here in Portland we are kicking in full gear to Collective Soul Levels One and Two and Teacher Training Level One.
And I welcome dancers from New Hampshire, two from New Jersey, Washington, Wisconsin, two from Oregon, along with my Gypsy Caravan Certified Master Teacher, Amanda Richardson, who will be co-teaching with me… seven full days of dance and all the beauty it brings to each of us, how it changes our world and our life, how we dance together to create magic, and how we follow our dreams to create the life we want. YES!, to them for following their passion to come and study, to immerse themselves in what they love!
I am so fortunate that I get to do that every day. Immerse myself, so that I can guide you to be the best you can be, through dance, words, empowerment, and beauty. They don’t call me the instigator for nothing, ya know!
What are your dreams? How can you find them, use them, allow them to radiate through your whole body?
I believe dance is the catalyst for well-being. Moving energizes and heals us, don’t you think? Along with eating the best foods for our bodies, staying fit, being connected with our inner being/spirit/soul/heart…through some sort of meditation-walking, sitting, writing. Even cooking can be a meditation for me, and a prayer!
And with that, I bring you
The Tribal Quest Experience!
I am elated to bring these powerful women together, with the different work that they do, because all that work is important to every aspect of our being–nutrition, fitness, soulfulness, feminine beauty, creative essences, and community. To do the work with them and then turn it into an online course for you, to make sure you can use it and enjoy it, and really allow yourself to be in it. Sometimes giving that to ourselves is so difficult..
So I invite you to do just that… Give it to yourself as a way of saying Thank you to yourself! To allow yourself some alone time, to dance, to write, to meditate, and more…to feel great in your body and your skin! Right now…and then imagine in six weeks how good you will feel! Little nudges to sweaty dance grooes…Gotta love that…

After a super quick trip to Toronto last weekend to teach for two days, which was a blast…this week has finally started to settle down in the home office. Whew… a bit of a whirlwind the last few weeks, getting my new The Tribal Quest Experience course finished, along with Tribal Bliss #2 (which is running right now and oh la la…. I’ll give you the next dates down below), and all the upcoming NEW website edits, plus tons of rehearsals with my band, the Rusty Dawg Revue, for a show and some recording, and a sick pup… ok, my, but life is full and grand!
he Toronto dancers were marvelous! We danced hard, they learned lots and got the feel of dancing more fluidly with both right and left hips, different formations, refinement of some seasoned moves, and Iots of new tribal steps. So great to be up in the part of the country, even though the trip was fast and furious, saw a tiny bit of the city. Many thanks to Laura McCutchan for bringing Tribal to Toronto!

Had to have a good giggle at this one…Mighty Girl, Famous Among Dozens! and I love her idea of a Mighty Life List (not unlike a bucket list, but I adore the name so much more…)
100 Things To Do Before I Go….
I recently had a coaching client who was finally able to have some time for herself, having her summer full up of sick relatives, and grandbaby care, and intense job duties. I asked her what she would do for herself with her week off, and she had a hard time thinking of one thing that she liked/loved/wanted to do. It happens. We get so caught up in everything around us, being caretakers, workers, mothers, etc. that we forget about us, forget about the things we love to do, or desire to do, for FUN….not talking goals here peeps, but just feelin’good, rockin’ fun!
so I do declare this weekend you ALL make a Mighty Life List!
Check hers out and get your juices flowing, and then do a few of them!
http://mightygirl.com/mighty-life-list/
Then let me know what you did, or send me your lists, and spread the fun love…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**Did any of you do the Slow Down Challenge I sent you last week? Sometimes we all need reminders. I know I do. And I have done so much better this past summer, taking my time, slowing down, listening, reflecting. And you know what? By doing that, I have also been more creative and productive and happy, and having way more fun. Yes, I still get stressed out, and usually because I do it to myself, putting pressure on myself. (that happens way too much to us creative entrepreneurs!) But hey, I’m getting the jist of it, and now, I really love having a good time!
a five-day series of reflection and action that will help you:
Live with greater intentionality.
Have better focus.
And develop deeper relationships.
Notice, Savor, Focus, Let Go, Give Thanks…
**I read this on a blog post on Awakening Women and wanted to share the poem…
http://awakeningwomen.com/2013/09/17/the-way-things-are/#more-9730
Hold fast to
empty space.
Cling to your clinging
to the way things are.
For a price.
When you’ve finished sorting the boxes of a predetermined “me”,
step outside and consider
the moonlight.
Consider the way things are
when you admit
you don’t know the first thing about the way things are:
the magical, mystical,
fresh, unknowing beauty
called Life.
Put down your compass and look in the mirror.
Look at the familiar patterns and expressions on your face,
look at the recent wrinkles formed, lifelines around your eyes
like rings formed around the inside of a tree.
Look at the whole of you
but do not become fixed in the way you are.
The way you are is
boundless, infinite space.
The way you are is timeless,
moving, changing with the tides.
The way you are is beyond anything you could ever comprehend.
The way you are is
not meant to be understood,
but to be lived.
The journey home requires that you go nowhere.
The truth of living mystery is the way you are.
Translucent listening,
Abundant breathing.
The way you are is the way Love is:
The wayless way.
A life lived awake,
a life lived fully.
You are the way.
Lather. Goddess Rinse. Repeat.
Isn’t that lovely?
So I will leave you with all these goodies for the weekend. Do enjoy, have fun, breath deep, and love hard!
thanks so much for being here….
but first…
I read this poem yesterday and loved it , wanted to share it with you today….
A DANGEROUS WOMAN
I am a dangerous woman…
Infinitely compassionate and wildly loving.
Softly strong and strongly soft in my ways.
Don’t get to close, you may see dreams come true and wishes appear from thin air.
I am a dangerous woman…….
Able to give unconditional love from an endless well within.
Blindingly bright ~ I will continue to shine until the stars fade from the heavens.
For God’s sake, don’t give me your heart, I might show you what it’s for and how to use it.
I am a dangerous woman……
Capable and real.
Genuine and wise.
Whatever you do, don’t tell me your secrets, I will keep them.
I am a dangerous woman…….
Gently staunch in my defense of family, friends and home.Crazy in love with my life.
Don’t expose me to your children, I may teach them something of value.
I am a dangerous woman………
Reveling in my sensuality.
Enjoying all the pleasures of being female.
Stay away from me if a lover that is both your equal and your joy is what you seek.
I am all that I am meant to be.
If this means danger then……
I AM a dangerous woman.
Starting Sunday, October 13th, 2013, and every Sunday for six weeks, let us bring you feminine courage, nutrition and delicious healthy food ideas, meditation and journaling exercises and prompts, tribal bellydance and fitness workouts, even finger cymbal playing! Oh yeah… what fun we will have together…
Using all of what these outstanding women have come together to share with you in The Tribal Quest Experience, let’s spend the next six weeks, grooving and honoring our fabulous selves. And they want you to be your freakin’ best, stepping it up–right now, right here. They have tools to share with you, for wellness in body, mind, and spirit.
~~~~~~Who and What am I bringing to you, on our Tribal Quest?
Well, first, you got me!
**Paulette Rees-Denis, your Tribal Hostess, and the innovator of Tribal Bellydance. I am your inspirator, I want you to move and enjoy your body, your rhythm, and the joy of the dance- to feel gorgeous, fit, in sync with yourself, to be potent and feel happy to be alive! Plus add writing to your movement and we reach in deeper to get to your core expression… oh yea…
*Cinzia DiCioccio, a dancer from Italy, and a member in Gypsy Caravan Dance Company, is a yoga and dance instructor, and has danced with me for many years. In this series she gives us several lovely yoga workouts–The Sun and The Moon Salutations, with breathing and meditation techniques, plus we show you how to play the zils (finger cymbals) with several patterns with you to learn and practice with us.
*Tami Lynn Kent, author and body worker, has a powerful take on our female bodies and how to stay connected with our selves and our creativity. Watch her interview, and let’s get out our journals for some writing exercises.
*Sarah Rose Jarolimek, an energetic fitness instructor, shares some fun strength training and fitness workouts with a dancer’s sensibility.
*Cristi Nicholson, a nutrition coach, has good tips for us dancers and how to take care of our bodies, plus adds in some delicious recipes for you to try.
*Karen Hunt, a dancer in Gypsy Caravan Dance Company for many years, assists me in some Tribal bellydance classes for you to dance and drill with us!
~~~~~~~How do the weekly sessions work?
First of all, it is all online. What that means is that you get to do it on your own time, morning, afternoon, evening, middle of the night (!) whenever works for you. And because there are different sections, some short and some longer ( 5-30 minutes) you can fit them into your schedule when you are ready. No pressure, no lateness, just do the exercises as often as you can. Gotta love that!
Once a week, I send you an email, full of all the goodness, with a PDF to download, with instructions of course, plus MP3s to download, and video links (on Vimeo) with secret passwords (because this is a private group class, not intended to be passed around please). You can join our secret Facebook group to meet everyone and share as much or as little of your experiences as you desire. And you have the whole week to get through the items sent, as many times as you want!
~~~~~~What you will need for this course?
Your computer and the ability to download PDFs, and MP3s, plus watch videos on Vimeo (with a secret password), We will also have a secret Facebook page to meet each other and share our experiences, so if you desire to meet up with the group, I need you to friend me on Facebook and give me your facebook name. Community involvement and support is way cool, and so tribal!…
PURCHASE: Wild Feminine, the book by Tami Lynn Kent, will be referred to, so I suggest buying it from Amazon.com, here –
You will want a journal and pen to write in, a space just for you to read, write, meditate in, a larger space to workout, do yoga, and dance, plus you need to have a pair of finger cymbals (or zils) ready to go… (some of you may not want to learn this skill used in most styles of bellydance, but they sure are a blast to play!).
Places online to buy Zils
Turquoise Int.
And of course you will want to get in your kitchen to try out some of Cristi’s recipes!
~~~~~~~~
Whew… sounds awesome, eh?
so my creative beauties….have a most fabulous weekend….
thanks for being here….
Rockin the weekend stuff, Tribal Shawls, and me!
Friday the 13th! gotta love it…
Have you been wilding yourself after my last blog post? Tell you what I’m doing that makes me shiver and tingle! Writing songs..And volunteering three hours a week at the Oregon Humane Society… And editing my new online classes for you….whoa… what a week it has been…
After Carol and I traveled to Las Vegas last weekend to teach at the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive Festival…yep first time to Vegas (trippy city), and you know what? I played ONE slot machine and won… a whopping $4.90, and then I quit!
I was asked to judge in the So You Think You Can Bellydance affair! These dancers worked their butts off for this competition, very impressive… and great dancers! An honor to be part of…thank you Samira Tu’Ala…and thanks for having me teach at the festival too… Very well organized, lots going on, great teachers, fun venue, good shopping… We had a fantastic workshop… it was so much fun, and went soooo fast. Tribal Shawls is what I taught. The dancers were twirling and spinning and orbiting and laughing and it was a great and very fast workshop… meaning it was over way too soon… I so love teaching that I get caught up in it and could go on for hours! That’s what you do to me…gotta love that too…oh, I see another online class happening soon with shawls…
but first…
The Tribal Quest Experience is coming your way next month…
**Thanks Tierra Soul, for the great work and words!….
Serendipity is the result of discipline.
We all want magic in our lives.
You too….
You want to feel that your work and life has purpose and meaning. You want to be visited by inspiration, by miracles, by your muse. Yes, you don’t want to pass the days in drudgery and the endless mundane passing of days.
You want serendipity.
Of course you do. We all do…. but if you’re like most of us, your life doesn’t seem all that special and serendipitous. If you’re honest. Don’t worry though…. I have a secret for you: Magic can’t be found. It can’t be harnessed or chased…. except in the most mundane and disciplined places. Magic needs discipline and structure to emerge.
Cultivating Wildness
Cultivating Wildness
How about it? Want to go wild? Want to do something different?
How are you at being spontaneous? Quick to say yes? Getting out of your comfort zone? Or just doing something that you’ve been waiting to do… why wait? Today is your day!
What would you do, right now, if you could? Take a trip? A walk? Ask someone out on a date? Start a new dance troupe? Quit one? Tell someone you love them?
Write a song? Write a book? Take a course? Hula hoop? (That’s Gypsy Karen up there with her hoop having a blast!) Something small or big, no matter.
How about a little time for you?
I want you to cultivate something, something that has been percolating down deep in your belly, your womb, your creative center…
Cultivate has been a word that has been following me around for years… I LOVE that word…
My business… Cultivator Media Group,
my publishing company…Cultivator Press, Cultivator Music
Even my vegetarian wine bar… Cultivator General Store…
Love it….
Here’s a few definitions for Cultivate—
*try to acquire or develop (a quality, sentiment, or skill).
*encouraging the growth of something
*to improve by labor, care, or study to seek the society of : make friends with
and what about WILD???
* in a state of nature and not ordinarily tame or domesticated
*not subject to restraint or regulation
*going beyond normal or conventional bounds
*indicative of strong passion, desire, or emotion
So, what ‘ll it be? For you, today? This week?
How about your get your journal out, make a list. Could be your bucket list. Or just something that pops into your mind. Try it on. Dare greatly. Do something different, something that will make you feel freaking fabulous… laugh, smile, warm and fuzzy…
Then tell me about it!
~~~~~
And another thought about Wildness—a wonderful TED talk
George Monbiot: For more wonder, rewild the world
