Search My Heart

What is in my heart?
Who I follow- what I read- the thoughts I allow myself to ponder: these all make their way into my heart.
Proverbs 4:23 says: ABOVE ALL ELSE guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.
What I allow in my heart matters.
A story in Exodus shares the danger of an unguarded heart...
God's people were enslaved by the Egyptians. Their cries reached God and so He raised up a man to set them free- his name was Moses. Moses went to Pharoah (historians believe him to...

Breath

Inhale.....Exhale
Genesis 2:7 tells us that God breathed into man the breath (Neshama) of life and man became a living being.
YHWH (say it with me- Yahweh). Now breathe in the first and breathe out the second. God breathed life within us and placed His very Name on each breath.
As I was praying for a word for 2022 God gave me "BREATH" or Neshama. The very breath of His Spirit.
My prayer is that God's Spirit would breathe new life over around and into us. May we consciously breathe Him in ev...

The Wonders of God

Who is your Elihu?
Job was struggling. He had no idea the spiritual battle going on around him. All he could see was his suffering. He had 3 friends who meant well but focused on the suffering. Elihu however had a different perspective.
It gets like that sometimes. The storm rages around us and we don’t know what to do. “WHY GOD?” Why would you let this happen?” “This isn’t fair! I’m a good person, I don’t DESERVE to suffer!”
These were my words before I had an Elihu. Before I had someo...

Story of a Bloom
She started as a seed deep in the ground.
Only her Creator knew that she existed, but oh the work He was doing to prepare her for spring reveal!

As she made her way into the Light, she found herself expectant and perhaps a little impatient while noticing all the mature buds surrounding her. “Just wait my sweet one.” Her Creator encouraged. “Your day will come.”
Then one day it happened, the Light that drew her near was illuminating the very depths of her soul. As she opened the bud of her he...

The Truth About Sin - Let's Get Practical
Monday, I shared the dark truth about sin. Yesterday I shared the good news of grace that we have been given. Today, I would like to get practical.
Perhaps you find yourself cocooned in a relentless cycle of sin, guilt and shame. While Holy Spirit serves to convict us of righteousness, Satan comes from behind with his counterfeit solution of condemnation. (NOTE: everything that Satan presents is a counterfeit to God's goodness.) What is the difference? Conviction sounds like, “Eve, your words s...

The Truth About Sin - A Work in Progress
Yesterday in The Truth About Sin, I exposed the dirty truth (and lie) of sin. I suspect there are some reading who do not believe in sin, God, the Bible, Satan, etc. 1 Corinthians 1:18 tells us, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” I get it. I sat where you are once. I too thought that this was a bit too much to believe. But then God opened my eyes.
I was 18 years old, sitting in a church pew, considering...

The Truth About Sin
How is that for a title? Did I capture your attention? Sin is a “dirty” word that brings with it all sorts of feelings and emotions- condemning and punishing in nature, I am sure. Culture will attempt to re-define sin for the populace while using phrases like cancel culture to incite fear of retribution. Regardless of popular opinion, it’s important to know the truth, our very life depends upon it.
Sin, the verb, in its very root form means “to miss the mark, miss the way.” The Hebrew transla...
My Week in Writing
I love to take long walks through t Hi! I'm Eve, an author and encourager who loves words and The Word. I am a daughter of the King who believes in God's great Love and His desire to draw us near Him.
I love to take long walks through the garden of God's creation with the Master Gardener and find the little blessings He leaves for us. It is my prayer that you will, too.
My favorite things are playing board games with the Fam, singing sweet tunes of inspiration, writing, and helping others find freedom in Christ as they realize He loves them. My passion includes helping the next generation find Jesus as we encourage them that they were made for such a time as this. May we all bloom where we are planted!
