Cabin Fever (ah)

Muppet Treasure Island Cabin FeverThe little one was born in December. Between the fact that you need to limit a newborn’s exposure to public spaces and the fact that I couldn’t drive, we were stuck inside for most of the first three months of the year. Beyond driving around, it was also too cold for us to even take a walk around the block for most of the winter. Then came the Super Cold.

When the weather finally got nice they were doing construction in my neighborhood and the air reeked of chemicals so going for a walk was st...

Christmas in July: Happy 1st Birthday to Polar Twilight!

Polar Twilight coverWhile it was sort of random that my Christmas play, Polar Twilight, was published in the middle of the summer, I will never forget its publication date. That’s because today is also my parent’s wedding anniversary! They were married on 7/17/71… How cool is that?

So a very happy book, er, play birthday to Polar Twilight. To celebrate the anniversary of it’s release, you can read all but the last few pages for free right here. (That link will automatically download or open the PDF file of the bo...

How I Binge Blog: one for now, one for the can (my rainy day queue of stockpiled posts)

People always ask me how I find time to blog so regularly in between everything else I do and I want to let you in on a little secret: I don’t blog regularly at all. I blog very sporadically and I just make my various blogs seem like they have a regular posting schedule and that they stay active weekly by using a mix of live posts and a queue of pre-written posts for the weeks when I don’t have time to write a new one. I call it Binge Blogging.

My blogging routine is usually thus: one for now,...

Doing a warm-up 25k “Half-NaNo” this July with Camp NaNoWriMo

As you may recall, I drastically slashed my writing goals for the year because this was going to be such a wild year, my first as a new parent. Here’s a little visual on how that’s going:

6.30.13 Writing Goals chart

Let’s just say, the writing is clearly not happening every day as it is supposed to BUT it is at least happening in some form. I was actually caught up and then ahead for a little while there though I’m in a deficit again as I write this. My goal is about 274 a day which I just realized the chart doesn’t actu...

My mother is a voracious reader, reading often a book or more a day. While she likes a variety of genres from paranormal to historical, they almost all have some element of romance to them. If you’ve read any romance books, however, you know that, no matter how innocent and chaste the story inside, the titles and book cover image are almost always over the top. Hunky shirtless men ripping women’s clo...
