I was born in Alabama but spent my years as a toddler up to age 13 in Baltimore, MD. Then my family moved back to Alabama.

After high school, I joined the Air Force, where I spent five and a half years. Two and a half of those years I spent in Misawa, Japan.

After the Air Force, I went into the electrical business. I became a foreman and received a Georgia state license.

I started writing books several years ago. It was a rocky start. I made some mistakes. But I learned.

As of May 2nd, 2025, I am offering a complimentary eBook, "The Nexus", to everyone who signs up for my newsletter.
This is NOT Nexus. That is an older book that is no longer in print.

I'll mention a few things, but I don't know how relevant it will be. It's been 40 years since I was there.

I was stationed at Misawa AFB. It is at the northeast section of the main island. If you go a little southwest of Misawa you will find some smaller towns. During my time in Japan these towns did not see many outside visitors.

Sapporo, which is in an Island north of Misawa is a great place to see, but they do get tourists. Every year they had a festival where they displayed ice sculptures. The island is also known for black bears and monkeys.

I was fortunate enough to visit Sendai, which was the town of a Japanese friend of mine. Most of the people in this town had never seen an American.

I wish I had more to offer, but like I said, It's been a lot of years since I've been there.(less)

I'm sorry I missed this question. I've not been active lately.
To answer your question: When I was seven years old, I had problems with my tonsils. My mom scheduled me to have them removed. She told me that it would be a simple procedure. I told her that something was going to happen to me. She put it off that I was just scared. During the operation my heart stopped for three and a half minutes.

Also, some time either during the operation or in recovery I dreamed I was on a bus and people were being drawn into the overhead lights. I could see their terrified faces. Later, I began to think that I must have woken briefly during the surgery to see the faces of those attending me.

You would have to add quite a bit to make it a book though.(less)

THE STORM that fizzled out.

Not long after my book THE STORM came out I started getting some bad ratings. I couldn't understand it. Never had I gotten so many bad ratings. I received a 5 star and then a four star. Then I got 4 2-stars and 2 1-star ratings. My first book I wrote got better ratings.
I was very disheartened and frustrated. I spent a great deal of time on this book. Something was wrong.

I like Odd Thomas. He's a very unique, and loveable character. This is the second Odd Thomas book I've read and I was not disappointed.

It was a great read. I could picture Michel Crichton's hand in this. He has always been one to thoroughly research his stories. I learned a lot about volcanos.
The story kept me turning pages. Exciting and suspenseful.

It was a decent read, well crafted, but to me, it was far from his best work. I hate to mention too much about the story and spoil it for someone. I will say that this is a different take on the fairy tales.

Dustin Oh, you are so very welcome, Gary! Whenever you have some time, please feel free to join us. Casual Readers really is a great group to hang out, discuss books, etc..

Have a fantastic weekend!

Dustin I Noticed that Flannery O'Connor is one of your favorite authors. What's interesting is that I live in Eatonton, Georgia, about ten miles from Milledgeville, Georgia where she attended the Georgia State College For Women (which is now Georgia College and University). Once or twice a week I pass by the farm where she lived and died. I figured you might want to know that she's still remembered here.

Aw, that's very considerate of you, Gary!! Thankee kindly, I really appreciate the sentiment, my friend. I actually haven't read a whole lot of Flannery o'Conner's work, but I definitely want to, someday.

Dustin Oh, really? I'm glad you think so, Gary.:) I like to read the various quotes here, and then add them.

Dustin You are very welcome.

Dustin Hi, Gary!

How are you today? I hope all's well with you and yours..:)

Thank you so much for the friend request, I really appreciate it! I'm looking forward to getting to know you, discuss literature, etc..

Have a wonderful day and week!
