To answer your question: When I was seven years old, I had problems with my tonsils. My mom scheduled me to have them removed. She told me that it would be a simple procedure. I told her that something was going to happen to me. She put it off that I was just scared. During the operation my heart stopped for three and a half minutes.
Also, some time either during the operation or in recovery I dreamed I was on a bus and people were being drawn into the overhead lights. I could see their terrified faces. Later, I began to think that I must have woken briefly during the surgery to see the faces of those attending me.
You would have to add quite a bit to make it a book though.
