I'm sorry I missed this question. I've not been active lately.
To answer your question: When I was seven years old, I had problems with my tonsils. My mom scheduled me to have them removed. She told me that it would be a simple procedure. I told her that something was going to happen to me. She put it off that I was just scared. During the operation my heart stopped for three and a half minutes.
Also, some time either during the operation or in recovery I dreamed I was on a bus and people were being drawn into the overhead lights. I could see their terrified faces. Later, I began to think that I must have woken briefly during the surgery to see the faces of those attending me.
You would have to add quite a bit to make it a book though.

I'll mention a few things, but I don't know how relevant it will be. It's been 40 years since I was there.
I was stationed at Misawa AFB. It is at the northeast section of the main island. If you go a little southwest of Misawa you will find some smaller towns. During my time in Japan these towns did not see many outside visitors.
Sapporo, which is in an Island north of Misawa is a great place to see, but they do get tourists. Every year they had a festival where they displayed ice sculptures. The island is also known for black bears and monkeys.
I was fortunate enough to visit Sendai, which was the town of a Japanese friend of mine. Most of the people in this town had never seen an American.
I wish I had more to offer, but like I said, It's been a lot of years since I've been there.

The thick concrete wall embedded with metal strips crumbled to dust as the irradiated human form burst through. He saw it coming at him, but at once his feet wouldn't move, and he knew at immediately that the two dimensions had been breached and that life would be ending in the next two minutes.

First, I have to apologize for being so late in answering this question. I had a death in the family recently and am just getting back to my writing.
I've been wanting to read "The city of mirrors," the third book of the series by Justin Cronin. It's been out for a while, but I really liked the first two books. I've just been slow getting to it.
I've also been considering "Dead certain," by Adam Mitzner. I haven't read anything by him, but from the description of the book and what others have said I think it will be worth my while.
Another book I would like to read is "The silent corner," by Dean Koontz. The book doesn't come out for a few weeks, but I've always enjoyed his books, with a couple of exceptions.
These books, however, are not written in stone. I have been know to deviate from my plans when I come across a book that catches my attention and I have to buy it.

You write anyway. If you can't go through it go around it.

Creating. Imagining. The joy that comes when people get what you're trying to say.

1) A lot of patience. 2) Listen to your critics and weigh their remarks objectively. If they're right make the changes now if you can. If not, keep it in mind for your next work. 3) Read, read, read. 4) Write, write, write.

I am working on a couple different things. One is trying to finish up the third book of 'The doorway' trilogy. I'm finding this one challenging, because I'm looking for some unique way to conclude the story.
I've also been working on another horror novel. I've already written a rough draft, but I find myself veering from it as I strive to make it better. I see this as being my biggest and best novel so far. A lot of characters and a big plot.

Sometimes inspiration comes and I find the words flowing smoothly and quickly, but I don't depend on that. I have a full time job besides the writing so I don't have the time to wait for inspiration. I often just jump in and do the best I can. Sometimes just the act of working at it sparks the inspiration.
