Book Birthday - God's Will by Meghan M. Gorecki
Happy 2nd book birthday to Meghan Gorecki and her debut novel, God’s Will: a sweeping historical that follows the journeys of two families who discover His will is the sweetest place to be as they climb mountains and crawl through valleys during the Great Depression.
Kathy Andrews is good at goodbyes. Her mother is sent to a sanatorium, her sister, left behind in Chicago, and her father, forced to roam looking for work. So she holds close to the only one she has left, her brother Danny. When the two go to live with the Marshalls in the sleepy town of Brighton, she doesn't let anyone past hello. Elliott Russell frowns at his aunt and uncle's generosity--even though he and his sister are on the receiving end. He frowns, too, at the uppity city girl with a chip on her shoulder whom he can't get out of his head. When a tragedy rips apart what tenuous existence they manage to forge, will they find the sweetest place to be is in God's will--or will they turn their backs on faith that fails to protect against pain?
Paperback - Kindle
Meghan M. Gorecki is an author of inspirational fiction, a blogger, book reviewer and voracious reader. Taking her life a day at a time as God leads, she is pursuing a career in the publishing industry as an editor in training and as a member of American Christian Fiction Writers. A hopeless romantic, history and Marvel nut, she's also a redhead (thanks to a box), who knows way too much trivia about movie musicals and the Civil War. Find her on social media and at her blog, A Northern Belle (www.northernbellemeg.com)

How Writing PULSE Changed My Life - by L. R. Burkard
How Writing PULSE Changed My LifeBy L.R.Burkard
I grew up in New York, in view of Manhattan. The farthest thing from my mind was having to store supplies for future need. The nearest deli and grocery were only around the corner and across the street. When we moved to a more rural environment, I learned to avoid unnecessary shopping trips by keeping better stores in the house. However, even that was nothing next to what happened after I wrote my book, PULSE. As I researched the book, I discovered some very disturbing facts.
PULSE shows the aftermath of a solar flare which has caused an electromagnetic pulse, which in turn takes down the electric grid for the continental United States. The book focuses on three families for whom life is changed, virtually instantly. Reduced to existence without the help of anything electric or electronic—no heating systems, no air conditioning, no telephones, (not even cell phones) no TV, radio or internet. Even most transportation would be immediately disrupted. (Your fancy new expensive car probably won't run after am EMP, either.)
Imagine it.
I did! And thus, my series was born. But while PULSE is a work of fiction, the threat of an EMP, unfortunately, is not.
A sufficiently powerful electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, can render the United States virtually without electricity or electronics—almost instantly. A Congressional Report detailing the likely results of such an EMP is online for you to read for yourself. The picture isn't pretty. It could take YEARS to restore power. They estimate that within one year, more than 70 million people in this country would die.
Needless to say, being aware of how quickly "life as we know it" could be shattered, the question arose for me, "What can be done?" (Despite the dire consequences outlined in the Congressional Report, an amendment to "harden" the US infrastructure failed to pass. Nothing was done!) Which leaves us on our own to prepare individually and as families. What about you? A catastrophic EMP caused by the sun may not happen in our lifetime. However, a recent headline in the news stated that N. Korea now has satellites over our country which could cause an EMP with the same, catastrophic effects. In PULSE, the characters consider whether the pulse is divine judgment for America. Could it be coming?
Instead of ignoring such threats, or worrying about them, I suggest getting prepared! First, we prepare by getting right with God. Then, we take stewardship seriously and prepare our households for difficult times. It's really perfectly natural to want to set things by for a rainy day. We've been lulled into thinking there is no need to do this in today's world, but that's precisely my point: This world could change, quickly and decisively, with disastrous effects. Ask yourself, how long could you and your family eat three meals a day if stores were closed—indefinitely? If you had no transportation? If you couldn't get online and order anything? In my book, only one family was ready when the world changed.
Disturbing things happened for those who weren't. RESILIENCE, which debuts on Amazon.com today, continues the story of the three girls and their families as they struggle to survive in a world gone dark, where teens shoulder rifles instead of school books, and where survival might mean becoming your own worst enemy.
How ready are you? What have you done to prepare your family for a grid-down world—just in case?

Writing/Editing/Publishing Update
A quarter of the year is gone! Yikes! It is going by too quickly for me. At the same time, I am thankful for the warmer weather, longer periods of sunshine, and the ability to run out the door without a coat most days.
Despite multiple health issues the past few months, the Lord has been very gracious and loving to me. I can announce many finished goals and progress toward others, which is always an exciting moment. Yay!
So, onto the good news!
The Making of a Man: A Short Story Anthology officially has a release date! April 26th! Lord Dentin's anthology has a cover, a book trailer, and the ebook copies have been uploaded and the pre-orders set up and waiting for readers to buy ahead of time. Only the print formatting remains, and I hope that by the posting of this post, that will be well in hand and proofs ordered. (I can be optimistic right?)
Living Sacrifice Book 3 is officially complete. I wrote the last sentences of the epilogue in the end of March and the whole series is now officially in the editing phase. I will be looking for beta readers very soon. Before you sign up, be warned that this is a three book commitment. Also, it isn't my usual fare. As Inspirational Epic Fantasy, it offers a bit more of a grand scale when it comes to length, contents, and depth.
The hubby has finished reading The Reward of Anavrea! He hasn't given me his notes yet, and we haven't discussed anything yet. He wants The Making of a Man to get released first. Still, he has finished it, which is a major step toward publishing for the next novel in The Theodoric Saga.
Now for the last bit of news...the next Rhynan novel's progress. I am writing! Yes, I know that doesn't sound that ground breaking, but it actually is. This this novel has been one of the hardest to get going in my whole writing experience. Hopefully that bodes well for the quality of what I am writing now. We shall see. I am four chapters in and moving at a decent clip now. Hopefully that pace will continue.
So that is all for today's update. Did I miss anything? Do you have any questions about any of my projects? If so, feel free to comment below and I will try to answer all of your questions. :)
Until next time...

The Solid Rock by Faith Blum

I am excited to be part of this blog tour for a new Christian Western! Faith Blum joins us today to talk about her new release, The Solid Rock. It is about a talented detective with a mission to find his kidnapped colleague who finds himself working undercover with a heinous outlaw who has more plans than first meet the eye.
About the Book

Joshua woke with a quiet groan. As his senses woke up one at a time, he cracked his eyelids open. Sure enough, there was a silhouetted form standing at the foot of the bed. From the smell, the person was either from the brothel down the street or had recently left one. He forced himself to breathe evenly and reached for the knife in his thigh holster. With as tough and evil a voice as he could imitate, he spoke, “State your intentions.” Pinkerton detective, Joshua Brookings, is sent on a job that seems simple on the surface. His fellow detective has been kidnapped and his boss, William Pinkerton senses foul play. Joshua is sent to investigate Edward's case in hopes of finding the kidnapped detective and helping solve the case that has taken over ten years to investigate. Arriving in Cheyenne, Joshua finds much more than a simple kidnapping. Yet again, he must go undercover, something he made his boss promise never to make him do again. The only Christian in the outlaw group, Joshua falters and almost loses faith in God’s providence. Will he stand on the solid Rock or drown in the sinking sand?
You can also preorder a paperback copy here for $14.00 plus shipping.
Excerpt

“You always make it sound so pleasant,” Paul Greene said, an amused smile on his face. “Mr. Pinkerton will be with you in a moment.”A tall man stepped out of the door behind the secretary. “Actually, he’ll be with him right now. Come with me, Joshua.”Joshua nodded to the secretary and followed William Pinkerton into his office.“I have a case for you. I believe it will fit with your moral objections as well as your skill set.”Joshua raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”“We have an agent in Cheyenne, Wyoming, who has been investigating some strange events for more than ten years now. He is close to the end and has been kidnapped.”“Kidnapped by whom?”“That’s one of the things you need to find out.”Joshua leaned forward. “How long ago?”“He was kidnapped yesterday. His daughter sent us a telegram.”“Why me?”William smiled. This was one reason he loved working with Joshua. “You know the area better than most agents, and you have been quite successful tracking down criminals on fairly cold trails. You read fast and think well on your feet. I can also trust you not to flirt with Mr. Harris’s daughter. I hear she’s young, unmarried, and quite lovely.”Joshua’s head jerked up from his examination of the Oriental rug. “Harris? Would the daughter’s name be Elizabeth?”William shuffled a few papers on his desk and skimmed one. “Yes, it is. How did you know?”“We met about three years ago when I was the sheriff in Castle City, although then it was known as Cartersville. Is there anything else?”William skimmed the papers in front of him. “That’s all I know. Knowing Edward Harris, he’ll have kept notes of his investigation and hidden them well.”Joshua nodded with a smile. “I can see him doing that.”William stood up and Joshua followed suit. They shook hands. “Good luck to you and Godspeed.”“Thank you,” Joshua replied.Giveaway

About the Author

Faith Blum started writing at an early age. She started even before she could read! She even thought she could write better than Dr. Seuss. Now that she's grown up a little more, she knows she will probably never reach the success of Dr. Seuss, but that doesn't stop her from trying. When she isn't writing, Faith enjoys doing many right-brained activities such as reading, crafting, writing, playing piano, and playing games with her family. One of her dreams is to visit Castle City, Montana someday to see the ghost town she chose for her characters to live in. She currently lives on a hobby farm with her family in Wisconsin. Looking Back at 2015
This year has been a good writing year. I have to keep reminding myself of this this despite the fewer than planned book releases.
Writing
Living Sacrifice – I finished last book of the trilogy that I have been working on periodically for almost a decade. It is an epic inspirational fantasy following the adventures of a young woman (late teens) and a young man (in his twenties) as they struggle to live faithfully in a hostile world centered around the worship of a goddess. (About 50K written in 2015.)
The Making of a Man: A Rhynan Short Story Anthology – This year I wrote five short stories for my Lord Dentin themed anthology: A Squire’s Love, Prodigal Brother, Turning Point, Forging Friendships, and The Bittersweet Pear. (Added about 37K)
Diaspora – A prequel to my short story, Exchange, I started Diaspora a while ago and now I am picking away at it as I can. (Added 18K to the 2015.)
Editing
The Reward of Anavrea– Reworked (again) and edited, this novel is currently in my husband’s hands for the last editing run.
The Making of a Man– Edited and read by my hubby, this project is currently awaiting its very last run through before publication.
Living Sacrifice – I went through book 1 and 2 in preparation and during the process of writing book 3. They only need one more going through before I hand them over to the hubby for the final edit.
Looking forward into 2016
I have big plans for 2016, Lord willing. His will is always best after all.
Faith (Third Novel of Rhynan) – I have a scene and a half written and I am planning on writing the first draft in earnest come January.
Diaspora – This labor of love for all science fiction and strange new worlds and societies is still waiting for its ending. I have roughly half to a third of a novel and more than enough story fodder to finish it out. I am eager to see this get finished, hopefully later this year.
The White Bear – This anomaly in my usual fare of fantasy and science fiction is a contemporary inspirational non-fantasy retelling of East of the Sun and West of the Moon. It is a large book already at 60,000 words, but it needs an ending. Despite its genre defying attributes, I have been told I should finish it and release it to my readers. So, I hope to finish it off this coming year, or at least make some progress.
The Servant of Anavrea– The last installment of The Theodoric Saga, The Servant of Anavrea is the story of Eve and Labren’s oldest son, Seth. The book needs extensive editing and reworking before releasing to even the beta readers. Still, I am optimistic that I will be able to make progress in polishing it up for publication.
Which project are you most eager for me to finish?

Book Release & Book Tour - Grace Triumphant by Alicia A. Willis
My writing friend and cover client, Alicia A. Willis has done it again. Here is her latest release, a historical novel about slavery and the struggles of those who fought against it.
Profligate London, 1788. Slave ships haunt the seas, bearing human cargos to further the wealth of the rich and destroy the souls of the slave traffickers.
Russell Lawrence is an avid skeptic. Captain of the slave ship Barbados, wealthy, and a respected leader, he views religion as a crutch for the weak. But when the debauchery of the slave trade begins to destroy his good morals, his battle becomes more than fighting pirates and mutineers. What if there really is a God?
Impressed as a cabin boy, Jack Dunbar sees his forced service on the Barbados as a God-given opportunity to witness Christ to the crew. But his efforts to influence the hardened slavers seems to be doing little good. How is it possible to live as a Christian on the sin-ravaged seas? Can his light shine bright in Africa's dark interior?
Back in Grosvenor Square, Elizabeth Grey battles opposition from society and her self-seeking fiancé. Her work with John Newton to end the slave trade is being harshly attacked. She faces life branded as a jilter and radical if she stands up for what she believes in. Will she ever glean the strength to call sin by its rightful name?
A tale of adventure on the high seas, redemption, and faith. Sin abounds. Is grace enough to conquer doubt and triumph over evil?
Available on Amazon
Alicia Willis is a homeschool graduate and avid historian. When not writing or doing endless historical research, she enjoys being a church pianist, teaching music, singing, and playing volleyball. Her other passions include working in her church and spreading the love of Jesus Christ. She also manages a monthly e-newsletter entitled "Little Corners".
