Temporary Hiatus

Life has been a bit full of family emergencies as of late. I have not been very active online, and I am not sure when I shall be able to be again. I am hopeful that I will be back and blogging again soon, but I cannot promise. I will try to keep up with my email and commenting, but it might not be in a timely manner. Thank you for your patience.

A New Interview

A friend of mine in my The Sweetest Romance Yahoo group interviewed me. She is such a sweetie. :) She asked me all those really important questions about why I write what I write, what books are in the works, and other interesting tidbits about the writing life. If you get the time, please stop over and see it. Even if you aren't interested in reading more about me and my writing, you can check out her books at http://missmaesite.blogspot.com/.

Also, if anyone is interested in finding out more ab

The Mercenary's Marriage Book Trailer

This trailer making is addictive. :) I think this one is an improvement over The Crown of Anavrea's. It is shorter, which is better, and definitely more dramatic. Please let me know what you think.

Like the previous book, this one is available at Amazon.com and my website.

Dreaming Story Ideas and an Old/New Story

I am not one to dream anything useful. I know some writers dream stories and, upon waking, rush to catch the flighty magic of the ideas on paper before they whisp away. My dreams are rarely coherent enough to help when I am stuck in a plot conundrum or struggling with a stubborn character. However, my old/new short story "The Call" is an exception.

Many years ago, more that I would like to admit, I took a class called Composition 1 at the local community college. I was new to the college clas

I have discovered a new fear

Initially, as a young teen, showing my work to my friends had seemed like a huge step. Letting them into my head and allowing them to peek in on my most private fancies seemed to be a herculean step. It was ten times worse presenting my first novel, Silent Rose, to my mother as the ten page paper project required for my homeschooling assignment. I thought after that, it would get easier.

Imagine asking the guy you are interested in if he would read something you wrote. I did. He did. And,

One of the lesser known tasks

I am in the process of preparing the rest of the Theodoric novels for publishing. I am no where near completing the process, but one part of the process is deciding how to promote the other books within each novel.

I have a confession. This past winter I went on a bit of a chick lit binge. I read nothing explicit or tasteless, just cotton candy fluff that is easy to read and makes me laugh (some of The Princess Diaries books and the like). One thing I noticed though was that they give a preview o

Manuscripts, query letters, and the trials of awkwardness

Another chapter in Wren's story done. I really should get back to Mariah and Ethan soon, but poor Wren has been waiting so long.

I ordered the manuscript copies of Living Sacrifice to ask a few friends to read and mark up. I am hoping to ask them as soon as the copies arrive. After they are finished, I can get working on the second draft and then looking for an agent.

I am not nervous about the process yet, but I am certain I will be by the time it comes time to write all the documentation to

A New Chapter, Updates, Editing, Etc.

Another chapter of Ethan and Mariah's story done. It was a difficult process this past two weeks, trying to move their story forward. I think most of my problem with their project is that I am keep second guessing myself. I really need to loosen up and just write, enjoying the process and quit worrying about the details. It is a bit hard to do with my first attempt at a REAL historical romance. It is so unlike my usual fantasy novels where I make up the rules as I go along.
