Hello Marvin!Thanks for joining me.
Thank you for having me, I appreciate you taking the time to chat about my newest novelT.A.D-The Angel of Death and I’m thrilled that you enjoyed the book so much. 

I’d like to ask you a few questions about your recent release, T.A.D.-The Angel of Death.TAD is quite different from what you’ve published so far. I’d say it’s more character-driven than your previous novels. It’s more touching. How did you get the idea?

TAD is a special story for many reasons, the events of 9/11 bothered me for several reasons as I’m sure affected many of us. I can tell you ever detail about where I was and what I was doing that morning. A few weeks prior to September 11th I was in New York for work and I had the opportunity to visit the World Trade Center and what I remember about it was how large the buildings were and how many people those buildings held. I believe it was upwards of 50,000 people. That is a huge number.After the terrorist attacks I remembered all the media saying how we had been lucky, because there were so many people who ‘for whatever reason’ weren’t in the towers that morning. Trains were late, the subway was late, traffic was unusullay heavy, people where sick, etc. It seemed, to me, that something bigger was at play. It was still an awful event with too much loss of life. Regardless, if always felt like angels, fate, or something was watching out for all those people who survived and weren’t in the building. Over the years that feeling never left me.Then a few years ago I started thinking about some friends of mine; Drag Queens, who never seemed to be represented in media unless it was for comedy or something tragic. I’m sure that isn’t 100% accurate, but it’s been my experience. I wanted to change that.  I wanted to write a story for them. That is when I got the idea for T.A.D.-The Angel of Death. I wondered what would happen if an angel or more specifically an angel of death saved people on 9/11, what if instead of taking people to the other side they affected what should have happened. What if they got in trouble, got punished? Then what? Where would they go, what would they do? How would they be punished? With that in mind, I figured who better to help a former angel of death then a drag queen, they always seemed like better people then most of us. Then I experimented with what that relationship would be like and how they would affect each other and everyone around them.

What did you like the most about writing it? And who is your favourite character? (I love Doug.)
When it came to writing the story, I loved playing around with the past, the present, and the future. I got to write something based on the butterfly effect and that was a blast. But it was also a challenge because even though the story starts in 2001 there are a lot of details I had to get right to place the story in that setting. We didn’t have smart phone, we didn’t have Wi-Fi, there were still pay phones, etc. So, playing with all of that was fun, despite the work that went into it.When it comes to a favorite character that is difficult. Because I love Doug, he wraps up so many qualities from so many people I know that it’s hard not to love him. That all said, I adore Tad. There is so much about Tad that is innocent, kind and caring, he represents what I wish more of us were like in real life. Yes, he’s not perfect, and he has his own issues, but I adore him. In a way Tad represents the best in us.

Is TAD inspired by a real person? (He sounds sooo real to me)

Thank you. Tad is very special to me. I would love to say that Tad is based on a real person, but he isn’t, he’s strictly from my imagination. There are aspects about him that I pulled from my life when creating him, but he’s mine. All mine. 

What are you working on now?

Right now I have a few things going on.  I’ve recently finished the third book, Conspiracy, in my sci-fi series A New World, which I will be sending to my publisher at some point in the next few months. Also, I completed the second and last book (at least for now) of my The Callingseries. This novel is called, The Called. The Story picks right up where we left everyone at the end of book one. I got to bring in some new faces which was fun to play with. Right now The Called is with several beta readers, once I get the book back from them I’ll work on edits and then send it in to my publisher.When it comes to new projects, I have several that I’ve been playing around with. One is a near Earth future story that involves space travel and magic, which is kind of a fun idea. The other is an urban fantasy/sci-fi story that involves us finding and going to Atlantis, or what we think is Atlantis. There is also a short story idea I have floating around that is paranormal and involves a non-profit company and a curse.So, I have a few things floating around, we’ll see what, if anything, comes of these ideas.
