The Plintered Crown

The Splintered CrownA Tankards and Heroes Novelby Larry N. Martin Genre: Epic Fantasy, Adventure Quest
A medieval fantasy with a party of adventurers all ready to make a name for themselves and earn some gold.
Tankards and Heroes is set in the city of Kortufan, where spies, assassins, mercenaries, arms dealers, rebels, smugglers, and informants do dirty deals dirt cheap.
The Poxy Dragon is a rough bar outside the worst part of the medieval Silk Road. It takes serious courage just to walk into the place, not only from its reputation but because of the rough clientele, questionable food, awful beer, and abysmal hygiene. Lots of taverns in Kortufan are home to ruffians and illegal dealings, but the Poxy Dragon is the proving ground for heroes - with a cemetery out back for the ones who don’t make the cut.
Lady Leota, the resident demigoddess at the Poxy Dragon, sends would-be heroes to different realms on quests. Once committed, there is no turning back, and if they want their reward, every party member must return through the portal – dead or alive.

Lifeliners

Lifeliners by Stefan Vucak Genre: Science Fiction
When everybody is against them, it is tough being a lifeliner, as Nash Bannon found out. Lifeliners are ordinary people…almost. They can draw energy from another person; they live longer and are smarter. Scientists claim that Western high-pressure living and growing sterility in developed countries has triggered the rise of lifeliners, and homo sapiens will replaced by homo renata within ten generations. So, what’s not to like about lifeliners? Protest marches by extremist groups, riots, attacks against lifeliners, repressive laws enacted by governments everywhere, were portents of a dark future. Young, successful, Nash Bannon did not like what was going on, but he thought he had the world at his feet and life in Australia was good, provided no one found out he was a lifeliner. A chance encounter with Cariana during a lunchbreak develops into something he considered important. The Australian government calls a snap election, and Nash stands as a Senate candidate on the Lifeliner Party ticket. Unless lifeliners rise up and fight for their rights, they can expect sterilization, incarceration, and possible extermination as democracies everywhere turn into autocracies. To survive, the Lifeliner Party must employ the same dirty tricks the government used against them, but they were not prepared for what awaited them.

The Descendants

The Descendants The Descendants Series Book 1by Destiny Hawkins Genre: Dark Fantasy
Fail the tests and become a slave. Display defectiveness and be put to death.

Monroe Academy was built to separate the weak from the strong. Pass the biyearly leveling and be released into society upon graduation. Fail to be promoted and be stripped of rank and forced into servitude.
That was a rule that applied to all but Rayah Bardeau. A student of Monroe Academy, branded as a Null because of her absence of Lighter energy. With her mother standing as a slave in her place, Rayah was given until the age of twenty to make level six, but at nineteen-years-old and with only eight months until her twentieth birthday, she was only a mere level one. The same level she’s been since she was ten.
With the stress of her upcoming test, the loss of a friend, and the constant wrongdoings towards her, Rayah could only dream of escaping from Lytonia, and escape she did. Only, when she awakened in her dorm, she couldn’t distinguish if she had only dreamt of meeting Soren, a wild and adventurous defect in the Wild Lands, or if she had somehow used her Lighter Form to get there.
But only the elite ― the most powerful of Lighters ― could tap into their Lighter Forms. Right?
And what was the dark energy she used when she and Soren were attacked by Depleters? Was Rayah really as powerless as she thought? Was she a defect? And if she used dark energy, could she call herself a Lighter at all?
Bestselling author Destiny Hawkins brings you the first installment of a gripping dark fantasy where a powerless girl must survive in a society that doesn't accept the weak...or the defective.
"When I started reading this book I was not prepared for the sheer level of adventure I would experience. This book is along the same lines as the Divergent series, and just as action packed!" ★★★★★
"Given how many books I read, it's not often I can say that I haven't seen something before, but this storyline is unlike anything I've read." ★★★★★
"This is completely different from what I'm used to reading....but I definitely fell in love with this world that Destiny Hawkins created." ★★★★★

The CallingThe Descendants Series Book 2
She was given a second chance to prove that she could fall in line, but with her lack of power, that would be impossible.

Rayah's entire life, she'd always been different from everyone else, and in Lytonia, being different was treated as a crime, but in her case, she was granted a pass.
In only a few months, she had to present her abilities to the council and prove to them that she was worthy of walking the halls of Monroe Academy, but Artemis, her tormentor and superior officer, would stop at nothing to keep her from excelling. Being powerless and not proving herself meant that she would be transitioned into a slave, and Artemis would become her master.
What Rayah realized was that she wasn't as powerless as she thought. For weeks she had been able to do things that only the elite lighters could do, and even though this meant that she was strong, it made her more different than she could have ever imagined. Rayah went from being weak to possibly being as strong as a Gods Daughter, and she couldn’t tell anyone.
The standard colors of a Lytonians powers are white, royal blue, and turquoise blue.
Hers were black…

He wants to do something else with his life besides spend it behind a plow, but it seems he has no choice in the matter. Their expedition would take the Murrell family and their traveling companions through the perilous Great Raft, a 100-mile tangle of broken trees, stumps and hidden perils between Natchitoches, the last civilized town on their journey and Long Prairie, their destination on the banks of the Red River.Everything changes for Tom and John when they encounter an Indian massacre -- four Osage are murdering a Kado Xinesi (high priest), and his guide. Trying to save the Kado, Tom is forced to kill one of the Osage braves and is almost killed himself. Before Tiatesun, the Kado holy man dies, he makes Tom his blood brother and draws a map in his own blood in John’s Bible to some place called Na-Da-cah-ah. Tiatesun wants them to somehow get the map to his tribal elders. This draws Tom into a raging conflict between the Kado and their arch enemies, the Osage. His new friends Mattie and James say there is no alternative. They must use the map to find Na-Da-cah-ah. Only then can Tom be sure that his family and friends will be safe. But it is a race against time – a race against Wey Chutta’s band of renegade Osage. Dangers are everywhere. The only chance to save his family is for Tom, Mattie and James to join with six Kado warriors, make sense from the map and the many clues they uncover on their quest, and discover the real Na-Da-cah-ah. Pacific Blue by Kristina Luckey

I'm really please to host fellow romance author Kristina Luckey and her latest release: Pacific Blue

Art first. Love later…or so she thought.
Sea life sculptor Piper Diaz is tired of being pressured to conform. She is never marrying, joining her family’s investment firm, or moving from her tiny industrial loft. Her sole focus is getting her artwork shown. And screw anyone who’s told her to drop the hobby. Nothing will stop her now that Pacific Blue Fine Art Gallery has agreed to show her sculptures. Things are finally going her way…
That is until entrepreneur and businessman Alex Hutton purchases the gallery and has zero interest in unknown artists. He gives her a choice to work for him or quit.
Alex has sunk all his money into reimagining Pacific Blue and turning it into a premier gallery. He won’t be distracted and certainly not by the beautiful Latina glaring at him. Still, there’s something about Piper he can’t shake, regardless of his heart-shattering past. Pacific Blue must open in a month or he loses everything. Working alongside Piper might just cause him to lose his heart along with his investment.

Lovely, beautifully written contemporary romance in an amazing coastal set.Piper is a sea life sculptor who would do anything to realise her dream. Her family doesn’t approve of her work, and despite the lack of support from her loved ones, she keeps going.Alex, a rich man with a dark secret, is the owner of the art gallery where Piper is supposed to show her work, but he needs famous artists to recover the money he put in this new business, and Piper doesn’t fit the bill.I loved both characters. They’re strong, realistic, and stomp off the pages. I loved the beautiful descriptions too and the rising tension between Alex and Piper, her complex relationship with her family, and his way to help her. It’s a standalone novel with a HEA, but I’d suggest reading “Pleasure Cove” too, the first book of the series. Also a lovely cover.

Kristina writes multi-layered stories with characters that stay with readers long after the words The End. Her first work of women’s fiction A Forgiving Heart received honorable mention for a novel excerpt in the Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition sponsored by the National League of American Pen Women. Her contemporary romance novels Pleasure Cove and Pacific Blue promise the same emotional read, stunning California settings, along with strong, sassy heroines and heroes who will steal your heart.
A California native, Kristina shares her love of the Golden State with readers through setting and culture in a series of contemporary romance novels. When she isn’t writing, she is exploring her state, traveling, looking for the best eats (she’s a major foodie), and spending time with her family.

Piper Díaz sipped her cold brew coffee as she strolled by the line of condos hugging the edge of the coastal sandstone bluffs. The watery blast of a gray whale exhaling had Piper’s head snapping to the sea. On their way north from Baja, a mother, trailed by her calf, surfaced. Another explosive gusher of misty air rose high above the water.Piper smiled then turned down a walkway leading to South Sierra Avenue. She crossed the street and headed over to Pacific Blue Fine Art Gallery, its coral painted stucco faded and blistered from the moist sea air. Dull wood-framed windows and glass door needed a new coat of marine varnish. Boring cream-colored blinds shut out potential buyers. She hugged her coffee cup, then shaded her cell phone from the sun with her hand. Eleven o’clock. Oliver should’ve opened the shop by now. Her gaze darted around the building before she marched up to the door and shoved her key into the lock. Come on, turn. She jiggled it and twisted the handle. It refused to give. She leaned in and peeked into the gallery from the tiny space between the blind and doorframe.A tall man, sporting a form-fitting white button-up shirt stood with his broad back to her. His free hand waved about as he spoke into his cell. Oliver? She looked closer. Hardly. Her boss wished he had a body like that. She smirked and sipped her coffee. What was going on? Blinds drawn and lock changed? Her breath caught in her throat. Oh shit, had the struggling business gone under in the last twenty-four hours? No. Oliver would’ve said something. He knew her finances were tenuous, and she lived check to check. She sucked up the last bit of her cold brew courage, tossed the cup into a nearby steel slatted waste bin, and pounded her fist on the door.“We’re closed,” the man yelled out.Oh, he wasn’t brushing her off that easily. Piper continued rapping the wood. The door blind shifted to the side, revealing a stunning specimen. Curly black hair, piercing sapphire blue eyes, a commanding jawline, and, well, too damn beautiful.God, please don’t let him be gay.He grinned, fanning her lust. Shit. Six months since she’d sent Raúl packing, and she could use a little action.“Sorry, but we’re closed.” His deep voice was loud and clear through the glass. She fixated on his lips and imagined her mouth pressed against them.He rapped a knuckle on the glass. “Are you okay?”“What?” Her daydream fizzled, as those lips pursed.“I said we’re closed.” The blind shifted back into place, blocking her view of the gallery.Piper jerked back, wrinkled her nose, and banged her fist, the door rattling with each blow. At last, the door cracked open and those blue eyes reappeared.“Who are you?” His voice rumbled.“I work here. Who are you?” she fired back. “Why is the gallery closed?”“What’s your name?”“Piper Díaz.”He ran his thumb over his smartphone then stopped and locked eyes with her. “I’ve called you twice, Ms. Díaz.”“You didn’t leave a message, and I don’t answer strange numbers.” “Maybe you should start.” He opened the door wider. “Come in.”
Thanks Kristina for sharing, and thanks for reading!

Liberty

Libertyby Kim Iverson Headlee Genre: Historical Romance
How hard would you fight for a chance at love across a vast social divide?
“Epic.” ~ Drue’s Random Chatter Reviews.
Betrayed by her father and sold as payment of a Roman tax debt to fight in Londinium's arena, gladiatrix-slave Rhyddes feels like a wild beast in a gilded cage. Celtic warrior blood flows in her veins, but Roman masters own her body. She clings to her vow that no man shall claim her soul, though Marcus Calpurnius Aquila, son of the Roman governor, makes her yearn for a love she believes impossible.
Groomed to follow in his father’s footsteps and trapped in a politically advantageous betrothal, Aquila prefers the purity of combat on the amphitheater sands to the sinister intrigues of imperial politics, and the raw power and athletic grace of the flame-haired Libertas to the adoring deference of Rome's noblewomen.
When a plot to overthrow Caesar ensnares them as pawns in the dark design, Aquila must choose between the Celtic slave who has won his heart and the empire to which they both owe allegiance. Trusting no man and knowing the opposite of obedience is death, the only liberty offered to any slave, Rhyddes must embrace her arena name, Libertas—and the love of a man willing to sacrifice everything to forge a future with her.
