Cover reveal: Life and Death by Selenia Paz

I have a very exciting cover reveal today: I am so delighted to be sharing the cover for my best friend Selenia Paz’s debut novel, Life & Death.

Guys, I am so excited for this book. Selenia told me about her idea for this book almost five years ago, and my reaction to it was, quote:

OH MY GOD SELENIA
WRITE THIS BOOK
WRITE IT RIGHT NOW
OMG

Life & Death is an incredible #OwnVoices YA fantasy/paranormal drawing from Mexican folklore, intertwining legendary figures like La Llorona and El Sombr...

Change of plans

So, as I mentioned in my FAQ post, my schedule is somewhat erratic due to my bevy of health problems. This is why I’m always so nervous about setting publication dates for any of my books, because I’m always concerned that something will happen to throw my schedule off.

When I set the date for Cheerleaders From Planet X, I was honestly concerned about it, but I kept telling myself, “Hey, it worked for Different Worlds. You should be fine with this one.” So, of course, I’m not.

So, yes, I am p...

Pinned: Everything you wanted to know about Lyssa but were afraid to ask

After procrastinating on it for quite some time, I’ve decided to post a little bit of an FAQ about myself so that if you see me mentioning something on social media you won’t be like, “WTF is she talking about?”

Book Stuff The Iamos Trilogy

Q: I heard that Fourth World includes ace characters—who are they?

The main books of The Iamos Trilogy (i.e., not including Different Worlds) are narrated in dual-POV by Isaak, a teenage boy living on Mars 60 years from now, and Nadin, a girl from Mars’ an...

BRACE YOURSELVES.

Okay, everybody! I am finally—finally—ready to share with you all the zany, over-the-top title for my new book… complete with zany, over-the-top cover and synopsis. Are you ready?!

I don’t think you are.

But here you are anyway!

Yes, you read that right. The title of my upcoming f/f sci-fi novel is CHEERLEADERS FROM PLANET X! What the heck kind of title is that? Well, I find that it fits this plot pretty well:

Aliens are among us. And humanity’s only hope just happens to carry pom-poms.

Announcement: New book, new publisher

Well, it’s technically after midnight on the East Coast now, so I can officially share my big news:

My next novel—the infamous, long-hinted-at “Project X”—is releasing this spring from The Kraken Collective!

This is a multi-part announcement, so here it is in tidy list format.

What is The Kraken Collective?

The Kraken Collective is a brand-new, unconventional, team-based publisher of LGBT speculative fiction with an emphasis on positive representation and uplifting stories. From the website:

Cover reveal: Ballad of the Beanstalk by Amy McNulty

I’m so excited to help reveal the cover for my friend Amy McNulty’s new book today! I love Amy’s writing and anything fairytale-related, so I already was looking forward to this book—but then I learned that it has a BI HEROINE. YES. I AM HERE FOR THIS. *flings pink, purple and blue confetti in every direction*

The cover looks gorgeous, and I am so excited for this book when it comes out in April. I already preordered it! And you should, too. But first: the lovely cover, designed by Makeready...

Return of Indie Behind-the-Scenes: Publishing a Hardcover on Ingram Spark

As I mentioned previously, now that I am working with Snowy Wings Publishing I’m going to be re-releasing Fourth World with a hardcover edition. In the process of setting that hardcover up, I cameacross many stumbling blocks and experienced much general confusion due to the fact that IngramSpark’s publishing interface is not intuitive and requires you to do a lot of digging through PDF manuals, sorting through FAQ, and last-ditch Googling to find answers to any of your questions. So in this po...
