Buy signed paperbacks and get a free bookmark! Plus other news.

Guess what? I now have an online store that you can buy signed copies of my books from! Since none of the local bookstores have online ordering options, this seemed like the next best thing. :-) As of now, both Fourth World and Perchance to Dream are available; and if you order a copy of Fourth World, you also get one of these awesome bookmarks!

Where I’ve been and where I’m going (in a completely non-philosophical way)

January has been a hectic month – family visits, lots of behind-the-scenes working, plus I’ve been fighting off a flu-like bug that’s been of the very lingering sort. Because of that, I’m running tight on some deadlines, so I’ve decided to take a social media break for the time being. I’ll still pop on when I get a chance, but it will probably be a lot less frequent than usual.

One place I am going to be posting every day for the month of February, though, is Instagram! That’s right,I finally...

Well, I’m excited to say that her newest book, The Haunting: Book 2 of the Forest Spirit series, is releasing on February 29, and the cover reveal is today – right here!

Thank you, 2015!

It’s really amazing how much can change in the course of a year! Last year at this time, Iwas two weeksinto recovery mode from a major surgery, and I was feeling beaten down by a year of nothing but bad news. I was just a few months out from having to leave my job and struggling to accept the news that due to my health problems I waslikely never going to be able to teach again, and wondering what I was going to do with myself or if I was going to wind up on the streets.

But I made a decision:...

2015: What A Year!

It’s getting close to the end of the year, and with work finally done on Fourth World, I’m getting ready to start some new projects – but I’m also in that between-projects/hey-it’s-December mode where you look back and reflect. 2015 has been quite a year for me! My new year’s resolution this year was toreally buckle down and make a go of this Author Thing, and I’m really happy to say that (for the first time ever), I made my goals a reality. And that’s a great feeling! So here’s a recap of my...

Why indie?

This is a post I’ve been wanting to write for a long while. I’ve thought about it time and again in discussions with other authors, with friends and family, and with readers. It’s about why I decided to go indie for my first YA series, Fourth World—consciously, from the beginning, without even attempting to find an agent or work with a traditional Big Fivepublisher.

Even with the explosion of indie books as a major market force in the publishing world over the last several years, there is sti...

End of November progress report

November was a month of ups and downs for me. Like I mentioned in my last post, it’s always a hectic month with my birthday and the holidays, and this year I knew it was going to be even more crazy because I was having a friend come and stay with me for several days right before Thanksgiving.

What I didn’t bargain for was an unexpected stress:my oldest dog becoming suddenly ill and ultimately passing awaya week ago, on the 21st (the first day my friend was here, too—because it wasn’t hectic e...

FiYoCrapMo Year 2: Finishing more crap

Last year I posted about why I don’t usually participate in NaNoWriMo, simply because I can’t keep up with that sort of pace without completely burning out (and, since my health problems started, making myself so sick I can’t function for the rest of the month). What I did last year, though, was follow this adviceand treat November as FiYoCrapMo—short for “Finish Your Crap Month.” In looking back at my post from last year, I’m delighted to say that I did indeed finish all my crap. The A/V pro...

As promised, there’s big news about Fourth World today: the cover and the release date! Thanks so much to The YA Book Traveler for doing the cover reveal for me!
