Shrimp and Corn Chowder
We three cooks have been sharing stories and recipes on this little patch of the internet since 2009, and we are excited to announce that while we’ll continue to publish posts on the blog page, we’ll also be publishing words on the printed page. The Three Many Cooks are publishing a collection of essays (as

Sour Cherry-Rhubarb Crisp
True confession: I am a little bit obsessed with the weather. The first thing I do in the morning – before checking my email or even making coffee – is look at the forecast. And it’s not just that I want to know the temperature so I can dress myself accordingly, I want to know

Almond Joy Bars
In last week’s Orange Biscotti post, I told you I’d be sharing the recipe for the Almond Joy Bars I took to the annual Anderson family reunion over Fourth of July. I’m keeping my promise. I also decided to show off my family. Here we all are. Jerry–the head of this big clan is in the middle

Moroccan-Inspired Couscous-Chickpea Salad
I recently returned from a weeklong trip to Morocco with eight of my dear friends from England. We rented a house outside Marrakech and aside from the natural beauty – the stark landscape, the colorful souks, the fragrant aromas – the thing that excited me most was, of course, the food – and it didn’t

Orange Biscotti with Cranberries and Pistachios
We just got back from our annual Anderson family reunion. Along with Gerry Anderson, clan pére, more than sixty-five siblings, spouses, grandchildren and great-grand children all gathered at our usual spot in the Smoky Mountains. Over the years we’ve done elaborate food and entertainment, but we’ve come to learn that just being together is the

Fresh Raspberry Sorbet
Sometimes, I wish I were ten again. Not because I am far closer to thirty than I am to twenty. Not because I might just be starting to notice the first whisper of wrinkles around my eyes. Not because the economy is in the toilet, and I have to figure out my 403(b). But because

Grilled Chicken Souvlaki Salad
We’re into edible plates. A few weeks ago we gave you Basil-Prosciutto Salad on Watermelon Plates. Today we offering up Grilled Chicken Souvlaki Salad on pita plates. We’re also into efficiency, so we like that the perked up yogurt mixture serves a double purpose. We use some to marinate the chicken. The rest serves as

Smoky Grilled Chicken Drumsticks
I’m not into waiting to celebrate the big moments anymore. Mom turns eighty-eight tomorrow. There was a time we would have all waited to gather for her big nine-o. No more. If there’s something to celebrate, we do it now. This morning Maggy and Sharon are driving from Atlanta to Panama City, Florida to join

Basil-Prosciutto Salad on Watermelon Plates
When I was growing up we’d frequently spread newspaper over the picnic table and split open a summer-ripe watermelon. We all anticipated the knife tip piercing the surface, hoping for a good watermelon, one whose rich red color bled almost to the rind. Sometimes we’d get a stinker, and we’d make the best of it.

Grilled Haloumi Caprese
In the early 90’s I spent a day on the island of Capri. I remember being served what was at the time an innovative Insalata Caprese. The tomato, set on its side, was sliced almost but not quite through, mozzarella slices and basil leaves tucked into each slice. Back then I barely knew what Caprese
