Seattle good times

Very last minute, but: urban fantasy fans in Seattle can see Jeanne Stein, Mark Henry, Jaye Wells, and Cory Doctorow signing at University Bookstore at 7pm. There are too many authors to do readings, but they'll do an FAQ sort of panel before the signing, which should be fun!

How much do I write anyway?

Often on Facebook, I see people excited about the next book and begging me to write faster. This made me curious, and I posted a question there about how much people think I write a day, since I suspect there are all sorts of ideas about what writers do. Sure enough--all sorts of answers popped up! It was fun, and I decided to re-post my answer from there over here.

First of all, I'm surprised and flattered at those who think I can write 50-100 pages a day! Wow! Thank you. If that were true, I...

Author road trip to Portland! With biscuits!

First up, thanks so much for all the people getting Succubus Shadows and giving reviews/feedback! I'm so glad people are enjoying it, and it's great from a publishing side to have the opening week clustered with sales. So, thanks again for everyone's support.

Speaking of support, I rode down to Portland last night to go to Mark Henry and Jaye Wells's signing at Powell's Books in Beaverton. It was a very strategic operation, involving me getting Jaye at the airport (she's from Dallas), then us ...

Succubus Shadows Release Day

Alright, it's here! Succubus Shadows is officially out and about. This is the fifth installment of Georgina's story, and as timing has it, this one is coming out exactly 3 years after the first book in her series. Good stuff.

SS already came out in the UK a couple weeks ago and will be out in Australia in May, I'm told. It has French, German, Spanish, and Russian publishers, but they're farther behind in the series (because of translation), so you'll have to either import SS in English or wait...

March Round-Up

Even though it's been popping up early, tomorrow is the official release day for Succubus Shadows, which is pretty exciting. And as often happens, it's release time for some of my author pals too...and has been for a lot of March. I've been remiss in mentioning some of them for assorted travel, illness, and stress reasons, so let's do a rundown of some other urban fantasy stuff that's out and about in the world. Time for me to make amends!

Battle of the Network Zombies by Mark Henry

This is the...

Going Dutch

There are a couple of author signings (not mine) coming up in the Pacific Northwest for you urban fantasy fans--signings that are unfortunately on the same day. For Seattle people, the wonderful Patricia Briggs will be signing at University Bookstore at 7pm this Tuesday. I only just found out about it and won't be able to come. Why? Because I'll be down in Portland, Oregon to see authors Mark Henry and Jaye Wells. They're doing a signing at the Powell's in Beaverton on that same Tuesday, also...

Succubus Shadows updates & current schedule

A quick update for those who ordered Succubus Shadows from U Bookstore. They'll still ship early but not this week. Turns out the pre-orders have blown away the shipment that's come in so far! So, rather than have me sign part today, I'm going to sign them all at once when the rest come in early next week. Then they'll ship out all at once--still early. Thanks for the astonishing (and unexpected) support.

People have been asking what I'm working on now, so I'll give you the latest. I've said b...

Succubus Shadows, signed and delivered early!

I'm sure some of you were worried that the news from Friday was so big, I needed recovery time before I could blog again. In actuality, I was busy finishing the first draft of Last Sacrifice. I completed it this morning, and it's a crazy feeling to think I just ended a series (the spin-off series is a technicality). Of course, since this is the first draft, it still has many more revisions and drafts to go through (which is why it comes out in December). Nonetheless, it's a big milestone for ...

Big News Friday

Okay, here we are, guys. As promised, this is a Big News Friday. And we've actually got two pieces of news. Ready?

First up, I can officially give you the title of Vampire Academy #6: Last Sacrifice . That will be released December 14, 2010. Please don't start discussing theories or spoilers here! There's a mailing list for that. Thanks!

Next news: the May Tour Schedule has been finalized. This time, my publishers decided to send me to a few "out of the way" cities, which is pretty cool since I ...

Valentine results! For real!

Well, I made it back to Seattle last night and am very happy to be home and back to work. I've got a deadline fast approaching, so I expect the adrenaline and caffeine to start coming on strong. Since there's still BIG news coming Friday, I figured I'd better finally get on to judging the Valentine contest so that we can have those results out of the way. Besides, it's been, like, what...a month? Yeah. It's time to get onto this.

So, without further ado, here are the winners in no particular ...
