From Russia, with love

I think I'm exhausted from writing last night's chat, so this'll be a short post. Again--thanks so much to those who stopped by! I hope Penguin will let me do it again. We got our stats this morning, and they're pretty awesome. Over 800 people showed up for it and submitted 6300 comments and questions. Crazy, huh? And how many questions/comments got through to me in an hour? 250. Guess we've got 24 more hours of chat to go!

Anyway, here's your gift today: the Russian cover of Shadow Kiss. I'...

Chat Follow-Up

Just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone for coming by to chat tonight.

A lot of people were upset to not see their questions, but here's the deal. The chat room was FLOODED with questions, and I don't see them when they get submitted. All comments and questions go to a very hard-working moderator (imagine your monitor being filled with hundreds and hundreds of questions and greetings) who looks through them and then has a very short time to pick ones for me to answer. That's when I ge...

Reminder: Online Chat Tonight

Hey, guys! Just wanted to put one more reminder out there for the online chat with me tonight. Here's a few time zone conversions I've done to help you figure out when it starts. It will run for one hour.

In the U.S., these are all today, Thursday, January 7.

8pm - U.S. Eastern time
7pm - U.S. Central time
6pm - U.S. Mountain time
5pm - U.S. Pacific time

International folks...
1am - GMT (I guess it's technically Friday for you at that point)
Noon - Eastern Australia (also Friday for you)

Here's the ...

Book signings and a live chat!

Okay, we've got some cool news today. I'll start by reminding everyone of my upcoming visits to Miami, New Orleans, and New York City this month. I know I've mentioned them before (yesterday, in fact), and you'll hear me talking about them a lot more. But, you'd be amazed how many people miss that kind of info, and I'll be sad the day after my Miami signing when someone writes, "When are you coming to Miami?" It happens. So, here's the info on that.

And here's what's going on this week. Our pa...

Anatomy of a book signing

As my mini-tour looms in less than two weeks, I realized that I haven't been in "show mode" in almost four months. That was when I had the 3.5 week Blood Promise tour, a feat that I definitely needed time to recover from. But now it's time to get out my dresses and author smile again!

A lot of readers who come to see me (particularly my younger ones) tell me mine was the first signing they'd been to and that they didn't know what to expect. Based on that, I thought I'd walk you through what ha...

Fork this

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, then you probably know (through frequent updates) that I visited Forks, WA yesterday. Forks, for those in the know, is the small town that Twilight is set in. Before I go any further, I need to clear up something. People seem to think there is some huge rivalry between Vampire Academy and Twilight. Not true. I've never actually read the Twilight series, though I've seen the first movie and of course know the story and characters (because it's impossibl...

Long live the blog!

Well, I won't lie. It's been a long time since I posted anything here, and for that, I apologize. But, my wedding weekend aside, these last two weeks are the closest I've had to a vacation since March. So, that's pretty sweet. That isn't to say there isn't work to be done--because there's always work to be done. It's just a little less stressful than usual (expect the stress to kick up again in January). [info:] lolcatz has been off from work too, so our household has been filled with games and TV. I...

The only thing better than watching Mannheim Steamroller is blogging about them

Today my husband and I went and experienced the magic that is a Mannheim Steamroller concert. If you're not familiar with Mannheim Steamroller, let me enlighten you. They're a sort of New Age rock band that formed 30 or so years ago. They started doing celestial, nature-type musical albums and found real success using that style for Christmas songs. So, to my knowledge, that's pretty much all they do now, releasing Christmas albums and digging deep in the Christmas song canon to get more mate...

Neighbor news and tour date news!

I'm kind of surprised at the reaction that the news about my KGB neighbors' return got around here (and on the other social networking sites). I hadn't realized how popular they were! I kind of want to make them their own fan page. The latest update is pretty tame. For the last couple days, there's been a van in their driveway and some guy doing maintenance outside the house with a very loud machine. I got a good look into the backyard today to see what was going on and discovered...there is ...

"Red" alert

You guys, there's activity at the KGB house next door. I've heard noise all day and thought it was the neighborhood landscapers. Then, I just looked out the window and noticed a van in the driveway and ladders against the house. This is the first movement we've seen from these neighbors since the Home Owners Association declared war months ago. Updates to follow as this situation develops!
