I'm with the banned

My birthday's in less than a month, but today I got an early surprise. Guess what?

The Vampire Academy series has been banned! In Texas!

Okay, to be fair, the VA series has been banned by only one school district in Texas, but still. Wow. Who knew? The Texas ACLU just released their Free People Read Freely 2009 Report, which talks about all the banned book activity in Texas public schools over the last year. Artist friend John Picacio sent the link to me today, in which I learned that I was th...

Stuff and stuff. And more stuff.

No coherent theme today, just a few updates. I realized that my Canadian adventure is coming up soon, so I thought I'd send out another reminder. I'm going to be a panelist at the Surrey International Writers Conference next weekend, and since I'll be in the Vancouver/Surrey, BC area, there are a couple of signings tacked on to the trip. Dates and times are here. If you're one of my neighbors to the north, I hope you'll come see me.

The other news is that I did indeed win through phase 2 of Bi...

New books! Oh my!

Okay, we've got some good stuff here. I can't make Succubus Shadows or Spirit Bound come out any faster, but I do have some things to offer you that might pass the time.

Before I do, I want to remind you about important things. When you order my books, you can always order from the big sites like Amazon, Borders, and B&N, but when you order from University Bookstore in Seattle, you can get them signed by me at no extra cost. You just have to mention it when you order (instructions are here). I...

Get a visual

Today's going to be a visual day. I recently learned, thanks to [info:] deathly_phoenix , that I have a universe! For real. There's a website out there called Richelle's Universe that I didn't know existed. The fact that it's actually called that is so awesome that it wouldn't even need anything else on it...but guess what? They had a fan art contest, and there are some awesome pictures of up there of characters from the Georgina and Vampire Academy series--one I think Adrian fans will really like. C...

Keyed up

First off, I want to thank all those who went and voted over at the favorite paranormal author poll at Bitten By Books. The response was crazy after I posted yesterday, so thank you! It ends tonight, so we'll find out for sure how I did. Again, I appreciate the support. You guys rock the house.

Today I'm going to talk about...dueling pianists. Odd topic, I know. The other night, I went to a party with [info:] lolcatz . It was for employees who have been with Microsoft for ten years. You nay-sayers can ...

Blog overdue

Whoa, I just realized I haven't blogged since Sunday. I mean, the Spirit Bound cover was cool, but cool enough to neglect LJ that long? Unclear.

Anyway, as I try to figure out where my week went, I'll get one piece of housekeeping out of the way. Bitten By Books is doing one of their most ambitious polls yet: Favorite Paranormal Author 2009. There are so many great candidates that they're doing it in rounds, and this week is my round. If you want to go vote for me (or any of the other awesome ...

Cool stuff here

First up, just a reminder: there's still a poll going on where you can vote for my next tour steps. I apologize for saying this over and over, but PLEASE don't list what you voted for in the comments or which cities you wish were on the list. I appreciate the feedback, really, but it does make the blog comments impossible to read. So thank you so much if you can hold off on that. And to answer a question that's been coming up, I'm afraid I don't know how long the poll will run or when the res...

Wednesday round-up

Okay, I didn't blog yesterday, so let's catch up on what's new and exciting in the world. First up, the poll is still going on to vote for my next tour cities. That link is right here. I cannot beg you enough: please, PLEASE don't re-post what you voted for here or post the city you wish was on the poll. I know people are excited and want to share what they voted for, but it fills up the comments like crazy and makes them hard to sift through. The poll will do the counting for us, and if your...

Red-letter week

Well, fast on the heels of the engagement comes some more news, which maybe--just maybe--will be more exciting to some of you than my impending nuptials. I know, I know. Crazy talk, right? Let's see:

I'm adding three more tour dates in November.

And you're picking the locations.

And by 'the locations,' I mean one of these U.S. cities: New Orleans, Raleigh, Providence, Salt Lake City, Miami, New York City, Birmingham, and Minneapolis.

Awesome, huh? My publisher (who organizes this stuff - so thank...

Step right up, win a prize

Today was the last day of the Puyallup Fair, an event often regarded as the second most fun (legal) thing you can do in Western Washington. No thanks to my tour (which started around when the fair came to town), I just barely made it this year. This is the third year [info:] lolcatz and I have gone to it, and it was kind of the site of our first date.

Because let's face it, guys. Nothing says romance like children falling off of sheep:

Yes, it's that time of year: Mutton Bustin', that make-your-small-c...
