Tour Day 18: In which I jump into a time machine
The optimistic report I gave you from New York yesterday got severely altered when my flight got delayed and then sat on the JFK runway for over an hour. (Allowing my Xanax to wear off, fyi). If you'll recall, I was meeting
lolcatz (who was coming from Seattle) in Los Angeles to catch our flight to Australia, so timing was kind of essential. Our original itinerary gave me 90 minutes to make the connection. After the delay? My flight from New York was scheduled to land in L.A. at 10:30pm inste...

Tour Days 16 & 17: More fun than the Jonas Brothers
Well, last night wrapped up my U.S. book tour. I had a great Barnes and Noble signing over in Burlington (outside of Boston). I haven't heard a great many true Boston accents, so it was fun to hear them when people came and talked to me.
Here's a few highlights. As you can see, we had a great showing of art and t-shirts.

The quotes on those last two shirts are from Christian: "If you weren't so psychotic, you'd be fun to hang around" and Mason: "Really, you're lucky you have someone as suave an...

Tour Day 15: Meet Virginia
You guys, I am so tired. What's crazy is that I've been managing decent sleep here in Washington, DC--especially compared to what I was getting when this tour started two weeks ago. Yet, for whatever reason, I've just been so exhausted when I get back to my hotel these last couple nights that it's all I can do to post these before heading to bed. So, let's do our recap.
Today was pretty quiet for the most part. It was raining, so I ordered all my food in from the hotel and simply stayed in my ...

Tour Day 15: Quick Aussie update
If you live in Melbourne, you may have noticed that both of my events there are sold out next week. There's still a chance that you can see me at an unlisted event on Tuesday afternoon, but if you're interested, you need to email vampireacademy@au.penguingroup.com as soon as possible to ask for more information. They need to hear from you before the 11th. Hope that helps!
For the rest of you, it's true: Dimitri has been nominated again over at Bitten By Books for sexiest guy. Eric from True...

Tour Day 14: Raiding the minibar for food instead of liquor is kind of sad
Okay, let's address something important: my hair. I make no secret of the fact that while my hair is naturally red, I increase its redness a lot. Sadly, red dye fades from hair pretty quickly, and I was prepared for it to happen on this trip, particularly since travel makes you want to wash a lot more than usual. Today I noticed that my color was pretty awful, and the red-enhancing conditioner I used this morning did nothing. Distraught over how I could show my face--er, hair--at a signing, I...

Tour Day 13: Oasis
Today has been the oddest day of the tour because...I had nothing to do. Well, that's not entirely true. What I mean to say is that I had none of my usual tour things to do. I had no flights, no panels, no signings. I simply woke up here in my hotel and had the whole day ahead of me. Again, that doesn't mean I got to go sight-seeing around the Smithsonian or Washington Monument. I'm racing against the clock to finish Spirit Bound's first draft, so I spent a good portion of my day inside my ...

Tour Day 12: Through the looking glass
Okay, guys. Let's get real. I can't help but notice that sometimes at my signings, there are readers who seem shy or nervous while talking to me. I feel bad about this and always think, I'm not that scary, am I?
Well, today I had a moment of profound understanding.

Yes, that's right. Before leaving DragonCon, I achieved my last goal today: meeting Joe Flanigan. For those who have been asking, Joe was the star of the TV show Stargate: Atlantis, where he played the witty, kickass military leader ...

Tour Day 11: In which I get unusually close
My third day at DragonCon started out like any other con day, scrambling to find coffee and get to panels after too little sleep. My first one was on immortality and had pals Mark Henry and Jeanne Stein on it, which is always a good time.
After that, I went off-site to the Decatur Book Festival just outside of Atlanta. Decatur's a quaint little town, and the fest is a sprawling, outdoor fair-like event with lots of food and art vendors (in addition to the authors and panels). There, I had the ...

Tour Day 10: Costumes and coconuts
Before I write about anything today, I have to do a retraction of sorts. When Stacia Kane, Mark Henry, Tiffany Trent, and Synde showed up at the signing last night with my pens, I referred to them as my "merchandise carriers" or something equally inappropriate--which was very wrong of me. They're my friends, and it was very kind of them to come bring me my stuff. That being said, I'm also supposed to amend Stacia's tweet implying she was the only one who brought them. They apparently all took...

Tour Day 8: No blues here, just blue grass
Wednesday is the day book sales numbers and lists come out, and many of us bite our nails waiting for it. Since today calculated Blood Promise's first week out, I was especially anxious. The results were incredible. BP put Vampire Academy at #2 on the New York Times Bestseller list, outdoing Shadow Kiss's #4 release last year. Over on the USA Today list, Blood Promise clocked in at #5. These are amazing, amazing numbers, and I am so grateful to all of you out there who have been supporting the b
