Michael Bay will co-write

One question I sometimes get asked, along with favorites like "Are you going to make a movie?" and "Who's on the covers?" (please, please see my FAQ for those), is: "Are you ever going to write Vampire Academy from Dimitri's point of view?" The answer, I'm afraid, is a very solid no. A lot of people mention it because that was originally Stephenie Meyer's intent (to write from Edward's POV, that is, not Dimitri's!) until certain circumstances occurred. It was an idea she liked and one that worke

My spell checker did NOT like this post

First up, thanks to everyone who has been weighing in on Thorn Queen. I really appreciate the feedback and support! Also, a lot of people have been asking about TQ being free on Kindle last week. It was a promotion my publisher, Kensington, was doing. It got TQ a high Kindle sales rank (due to its "attractive price point," as [info:] lolcatz points out) and boosted Storm Born as well. Thanks again, everyone.

Here in Richelle's world, things are HOT...which you probably know if you're on Twitter because n

Oh, hey. Thorn Queen's out.

Yeah, I know! Cool, huh? I'd been under the impression that Thorn Queen (book 2 of the Dark Swan series and the sequel to Storm Born) wasn't out until next week, but nope, here we are! It's official release day...which, for those who've read my posts on soft and hard drop dates, is a little nebulous since this had a soft drop. So, if you're a fan of Eugenie's adventures, grab a copy! I signed University Bookstore's orders recently, so if you ordered those, they're shipping out. TQ comes out

Curiouser and curiouser

I think I've recovered enough from Friday to start blogging again. Wow, what a rollercoaster. It was actually a pretty calm day until other time zones started wanting to know why they weren't seeing the Blood Promise excerpt...which, of course, was because it wasn't 7/25 for me! My website doesn't have the power to be different for each time zone, and then all sorts of wackiness happened as people tried to calculate when the excerpt would go up for their region. When I finally posted it--12:02am

Blood Promise excerpt at last

***As of this writing, 12:05am, the traffic from the BP excerpt appears to have crashed my website. I assume my hosting service will eventually remedy it. Until then...I don't know what to say. Since the picture below is coming from my server, the odds are that if you can't see it, the site is still down. Keep checking!***

So, Vampire Academy sold publishing rights in Serbia, the Netherlands, and Japan this week. With over a dozen other countries on its resume, I realize there's a global followin

You catch more flies with honey and more wasps with...?

So, some people know that I've recently installed--by which I mean [info:] lolcatz installed--a hummingbird feeder in the backyard. I've had a love-hate relationship with hummingbird feeders for much of my life. We got one when I was growing up, and then my ex-husband and I had one briefly as well. No hummingbirds ever came to either. You can imagine our astonishment when, while on a trip to Arizona, my ex and I saw hummingbirds everywhere. I swear, it was like those things were going to land on your ou

KGB Update

Now that I have your attention, let me first say that there's nine new pieces of Vampire Academy jewelry over at Synde's Store, including some of the much-coveted element bracelets. Get 'em while they're hot! And stay tuned for a special promotion from Synde when the Blood Promise chapter goes up this weekend.

Okay. Back to the post topic. People have been asking about my neighbors for a while now, wondering what crazy shenanigans they were up to. For those just tuning in, the short version is th

The latest for Australian fans

First up, let's address a serious question that I was asked recently. With the time change, I'm afraid Australians will not be reading the first chapter of Blood Promise until August 26. There's nothing to be done for it. I live in the U.S.; so does my website. Of course, let's look at this logically. As I write this, it's July 20 in the U.S. Five days until the chapter. In Australia, it's July 21. Five days. It all works out the same! It goes up midnight Pacific time, so you guys will have to c

Seattle authors drink, go to church together, and find secret doors.

In my last post, I promised pics from Caitlin Kittredge's and Lisa Mantchev's respective signings this week. Unfortunately, I have none. I took them, but here's a fact: pictures of authors reading are generally not flattering. Our mouths make weird shapes, and I decided not to post what I have. Suffice to say: both ladies did an awesome job.

Here's what I did get from this week. Before going to Caitlin's, a group of us stopped by St. Mark's Cathedral, a very beautiful old church in Capitol Hill.
