Miscellaneous in Michigan
I'm still hanging out in west Michigan, though I'll be back in Seattle tomorrow night. These last couple of days have been packed-full of more family visits than I would have though was possible.
lolcatz
and I have seen all sorts of parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in a very short amount of time. It's been good fun!
While in the Grand Rapids area, I also did a few stock signings--those stops where authors quickly swing by bookstores to autograph what's on the shelves...

Talk to the mitten
I've kept this under the radar since I'm not doing any business or signings, but
lolcatz
and I actually flew into Michigan yesterday to visit some family. So, yes, I'm writing to you now from the Great Lakes State. There isn't too much to report on my activities that doesn't involve sitting around and digging through old family gossip, most of which is stuff better left off my blog.
Like all trips to Michigan, we've already been to Meijer--the super superstore we so badly miss in Washington. A...

Lame update
I apologize again for going so long without an update--particularly in regards to the Valentine contest. I haven't been in great shape since getting back from the UK. My sleep has been awful, and I've consequently gotten a cold. Or, it might be allergies. Unclear. Regardless, it makes for miserable working conditions. So does this:

Some people may have already seen that pic elsewhere. It's a removable splint for de Quervaine's tenosynovitis, which is an injury to the tendon running inside yo...

Souvenirs for you
It occurs to me that I never post right away after getting back from a trip. Twitter and Facebook usually get updated, but those who only follow me here are kind of left hanging. Sorry about that. Happily, I made it home to my native land on Wednesday afternoon. The trip wasn't exactly uneventful because I fainted on the airplane while walking back from the bathroom. Seriously. I can count the number of times I've fainted in my life on one hand, and it's not something I enjoy. This time it wa...

Seattle calling
Yesterday wrapped up my UK tour duties, which turned out to be many and varied. I started off with a BBC radio interview that was probably one of the most interesting ones I've done. It was recorded for a show that'll be released in March, and there should be an online link for that.
After that, it was time for yet another train ride, this time to the nearby town of Milton Keynes--a town so nearby that my group from Puffin (our full part was sitting in different parts of the train) missed the ...

Wine in a box isn't classy here either
The blog had a day off yesterday because I had a day off, and there wasn't too much to report. Well, at least not much I can report on here. I spent the day with the fabulous Karen Mahoney, and our Tarot and author shop-talk isn't really fit blog material. Considering how exhausted I've been, I didn't really want a hardcore London tourist experience, so we mostly chatted over meals and walked around a little--and visited bookstores, of course. At Foyles, I discovered Blood Promise was #7 in ...

The Big Ben Theory
This is a picture-light post, as will soon be explained. After the adventures in Manchester last night, we actually hopped another train and went to Birmingham so that I could wake up bright and refreshed for a Twilight convention this morning. Yes, a Twilight convention. Or--as it's officially known: Eclipse: Eternal Twilight 3.
As a disclaimer, let me say what I've said a hundred times before: I'm totally cool with Twilight. People always think there's a blood feud or that it can't be mentio...

Vamped
Today has been a long, busy day, expanding my exposure of England. I started off in beautiful London, made more beautiful by its lack of rain. I had two stock signings this morning, which were open to the public. Both were at Waterstones--one of which was located in the infamous Harrods. I can't hear Harrods without thinking of that song from Evita: "No, we wouldn't mind seeing her at Harrods/But behind the jewelry counter, not in front." When doormen let me into the building and told me they...

I'm OK, you're UK
My body's still not so sure about this GMT thing, but I did get 6.5 hours of sleep last night. Considering how exhausted I am as I write this, I expect to get more tonight and slide securely into this timezone for real.
Anyway, today kicked off my first official UK tour day. Fixing my hair turned into quite an adventure. I had to buy hairspray and am glad it doesn't go by another name here, like 'strand hold.' I have one US outlet in my room that handles my laptop and phone charger just fine b...

London Calling
Greetings from England! I flew out from Seattle last night and landed in the homeland of [some of:] my ancestors this morning. The nine(!) hour flight went pretty well, all things considered. The Xanax I take to fly did a good job to keep my anxiety at bay--though, unfortunately, it didn't make me sleep as it often does. I think my brain just couldn't wrap itself around going to bed so early in my natural timezone. I tried to doze a little mid-way and woke up to see the in-flight map showing u...
