In Dreams...

Dreaming is such a strange and magical thing. You experience vivid and almost completely real moments somewhere someplace.

You are moving through a different world and seeing, feeling, experiencing as much of it as the dream allows... Yet there you are, back in the so-called real world, your body hasn't left the bed and your eyes are closed.

In addition to dreaming, sleepwalking further adds to the possibility that what we are seeing inside our minds (perhaps even our souls) are places, dimensions, and parallel lives that have real-world influences and meanings.

After all, everything we use today as human beings started out as a 'figment of imagination' in some inventor, engineer, scientist, or artist's mind. Since complex ideas can be made real, what does that mean for the intricate worlds and moments we experience in dreams? Aren't they, in some way, real themselves?

Instagram Searches...

Instagram, always coming up with interesting new features for its users, but yet to give us a "search post" option that lets us find something we uploaded on our own account.

"What was that post you made a few months ago?"
"Was it about that [keyword]? Let me find it."

[days become weeks, weeks become months]

"Did you find that post yet?"
"Nope, still scrolling through endless eternity. Oh wait, if only they had a search button for this sorta thing."

All I want for Christmas is...

All I want for Christmas is... a portable device that, with one click of a button, will generate selective vibrations or subsonic tones that can separate, lift, and attract every mote of dust in a chosen radius.

Honestly, I just want to clean my apartment without moving a single object. So call me lazy, call me crazy, call me clever, call me whatever you like. Just make the thingamabob and let me know where I can buy it.

Meanwhile, I'll just write a "Strange Speculations" post based on this, upload it on my blog, and not grow guilty glimpsing at all the dust that I have so little time to clean.

Help me, Science, you're my only hope.

Destiny...

Some people can change the world simply by existing in it. Sometimes, no matter how important, historic, or grand a road may be, a new-grown log fallen across it can send some people driving in a new direction. This in turn will create new destinations, fresh fates, and unpredictable decisions for and around them. Such a simple thing can alter the weave of the world's destiny.

Self...

As long as you are dependent on someone, you will have to live your life by their rules. But when you make your own way, no matter how small or lonely it may seem, you will gain the simplest dignity life can offer. After that, you can choose how to build that life and in which direction.

Company...

You can judge a person by the company they keep. But you can judge a person even better by the company they avoid.

A.I. & Human...

I always found it amusing that humans have, for decades, been learning how machines think. and that today, machines including A.I. are starting to learn how humans think.

Does our perspective of machines as mere tools to serve civilizational progress hint that we were thinking like cold-clinical machines when we coded them and not like heartfelt humans? In contrast, will A.I. see us as servants and tools? Or, in a shocking and unforeseen twist, will it think like a heartfelt human being instead?

What will be even more amusing is to witness how future-humans might end up learning how to genuinely feel and think like a human from an A.I. while the A.I. learns how to think and behave like a machine from future-humans.

Wigs 'n' Woes...

So your neighbour catches you unawares without your wig and says, "Your hair looks different. It was fuller yesterday." Don't give it a second thought, just promptly reply, "It'll be back in form soon, trust me." And when they persist and ask, "How?" just reply with, "I have a very reliable volumizer." Then you act like you left something on the stove, rush back into your apartment, and lock the door. Memo to self: wear the wig when you step out even for two seconds.
